Summary of essential ● First study presented by University of Groningen: teachers with
information: higher levels of stress at the beginning of the year led to less
affectivity in the classroom throughout the year than those with
lower levels.
● Second study presented by the University of Virginia:
classrooms with teachers who were stressed at the beginning of the
year and participated in “the Good Behavior Game” didn’t have
much effect from the teacher stress in the classroom; classrooms
with teachers that didn’t participate and were stressed at the
beginning of the year had significantly worse behavior management.
● Third study presented by the University of Texas: introduces
the teachers’ perception and depending how they perceive demands
vs. resources will affect their stress levels in the class. Higher
demands with less resources in classrooms led to higher teacher
stress while classrooms with either equal resources and demands or
more resources with lower demands led to lower stress levels for
teachers.

Summary of essential ● “...everyone is busy. Despite that, a lot of people still want
information: to meditate. The problem is, there is never enough
time. And there are other obstacles. Meditation is also
hard because we aren’t used to sitting still.”
● “So for a lot of people, when they ask themselves, “How
long should I meditate?” They are really asking a different
question. It’s more like,“How little can I do and still get the
benefits?””
● you don’t get to decide how quickly you see the results. In
fact, you often don’t even get to know that you are having
any results at all
● We come from different cultures, and we have different
histories and personalities. So you never know how it’s
going work. You may get results right away, but it might
take days, weeks, or even months of regular practice.
● But in the process, the practice was working on me. Slowly
but surely, I was building a foundation. I was probably too
ambitious to see it at the time, but now at age 40, I can see
that every hour and minute counted. And it still does.
● If you are just starting out, I recommend you meditate for
anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes every day. You can start
with even less. Maybe try it for 1 minute in the morning.
And when you can sit still and relax for that long, move to 2
minutes. And then you keep increasing your time as you get
comfortable with the practice.
● The most important thing is to just start. The next most
important thing is to be consistent.
● Because we are all different, there isn’t a right amount of
time to meditate. But it’s also like learning any new skill or
practicing an instrument. The more time you invest in
practice, the more results you’re going to see
● So when it comes to the question of how much time you
should put in to get results? I don’t think you can go wrong.
Just pick a number you can manage, be consistent, and get
busy letting go.

● “We’re busy people, after all. With everything already on our plates, how

● “The first step is redefining what “journaling” is”
● “But really, journaling just means setting aside a little quiet, undistracted
time to sit down and think about your life. It can be just by writing down a
record of what you did that day; by venting about one thing that you can’t
get off your mind; by noting something that inspired you. Some days it may
be pages and pages, and some it may only be a few words. Just as long as
you’re actually taking a moment to stop and think about how things are
