Content
This magazine has been launched with the purpose that people who are genuinely interested in
marketing can share their thoughts on some interesting aspects of the field. It will help us to get
and share better insights in the field of marketing.

Magazine would be kept highly professional and of highest possible standards. Only Professors
of four IIMs, reputed marketing professionals and students of the four IIMs would be
contributing to this magazine.

In keeping with this spirit, this marketing magazine will not print any already printed material.
Only original articles would be allowed in this magazine. The articles sent to the magazine
should not have been posted at any other forum.

Abstract/Summary
Every article sent for consideration should be accompanied by an abstract of 80-100 words.
Abstract should be written such that it captures the main theme being conveyed.

Referencing
 Quotations are the exact words of an author, copied verbatim from the source. Quotations
must be cited.
 Paraphrasing means rephrasing or translating the words of an author in your own words.
Paraphrased material must be followed with in-text documentation and cited.
 Summarizing involves putting the main idea(s) of one or several writers into your own
words, including only the main point(s). Once again, it is necessary to attribute summarized
ideas to the original source.

All articles must acknowledge each and every document used while building the report in the
‘Endnote’ style. This will include all the quotations, paraphrases/concepts, data and diagrams
used in the report.

Format for putting references from books, website etc are given below. It is strong advised to
use the citation option of MS Word 2007. Filling up all the fields in Manage Sources option
would always result in proper reference format.

Author

Articles must be accompanied by a brief write-up/detail of all the authors arranged in the order of
hierarchy (where it is a combined faculty or industry and a student write up) followed by alphabetical
order. Thus if the article is an outcome of work done by a faculty and student, the write-up on faculty
must appear before the details of the students. All the write-ups must be in third-person narrative mode
and must be restricted to 50 words per author. It is recommended to include the e-mail addresses of the
authors along with the write-up.

Format:
Prof. Chandler Bing is a visiting faculty in the Marketing area at the Indian Institute of
Management Bangalore. He holds a Ph.D. in consumer behavior from University of California,
Berkley and a Bachelors degree in Economics from Yale.

Aamir Khan is a 1st year PGP student at IIM Bangalore. He holds a Bachelors degree in
Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and can be reached at
aamirk09@iimb.ernet.in.

The article should be sent as an e-mail attachment to mash@iimb.ernet.in with the subject line
“Marketing Magazine | Student Articles” and contact details of each of the authors.

Common editorial team from all four IIMs would evaluate each and every article. Due to the
limit on number of articles which can be printed, the editorial team reserves the right to accept
or refuse an article for publication, and they are under no obligation to assign reasons for
their decision. An article once selected for publication will be circulated as a part of the
marketing magazine and will reach various stakeholders.
