Promoting The American System

For homework tonight, create a broadside (the 18th-19th century version of a flyer) promoting The American
System to a potentially skeptical public. Your broadside can employ both words and images, but every flyer
should:
● Explain the component parts of the proposed system thoroughly
● Explain how each component is meant to work with the others to knit together regional economies and
promote national unity
● Employ specific examples where relevant (hint: think about what “internal improvements” might improve
transportation - and why that might be important)

Remember: Your aim is to show how this system will connect and support the economic production (what
goods and materials are produced to sell) and consumption (what goods and materials are purchased) of each
region.
