Students will be able to round whole numbers to the nearest ten and hundred using a number
line as a tool.
Students will be able to round whole numbers to the nearest thousand and ten thousand by
using the rounding cluster strategy.
Materials:
teacher books _
teacher materials Flash card for the (rounding cluster) strategy + Flash cards for numbers + Number
line.

Some students have knowledge about place value but they don’t know how to round
numbers.
Solutions:
The teacher will set for her classroom rules to avoid the misbehaving issue.
The teacher will scaffold the task and move step by step to let students gain the concept.
Lesson Schedule
Targeted teacher language:
The teacher explaining the main concept and her instructions.
Student’s interactions through answering the activating and using Math language.
First, the teacher will review the rounding steps with the students in the board. Then, she will
pick some students come to the board and write the steps.
After that, the teacher will do some examples in the board about how the round the numbers
to the nearest (ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand). Then, the teacher
will write some examples in the board and do it step by step to students gain the concept.
Then, the teacher will write some numbers in the board and students should round them by
using the small white board and each number the will round it differently according to the
nearest (ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand).
Then, Students will open their books and answer the questions in page 23. Then, the teacher
will give students a paper the shaped as ice cream and some scoops and inside the ice cream
is number and students should round that number to the nearest (ten, hundred, thousand,
ten thousand, hundred thousand) and write it in the scoop.
Finally, learners will open their books and answer page 24 individually and then the teacher
will review the answers in the board.
