PRAYER ON MORAL ISSUE: ISSUE ON EXTRAMARITAL AFFAIRS

INTRODUCTION
Extramarital affairs are relationships outside of marriage where an illicit romantic or sexual
relationship or a romantic friendship or passionate attachment occurs.

An extramarital affair that continues in one form or another for years, even as one of the
partners to that affair passes through marriage, divorce and remarriage, could be considered the
primary relationship and the marriages secondary to it. This may be serial polygamy or other forms of
nonmonogamy.

Commandment that is violated “ Thou shall not commit adultery”

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that
each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in
passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;

OPENING PRAYER

Holy Father,

We come into your presence with thanksgiving remembering that you are still on the throne and that
you hear the prayers of your people. We ask that you would move mightily in this situation. We stand
against the sin of adultery. We lift up marriage and ask that you would come against the forces that are
pulling marriage apart. Mighty Prince of Peace, bring repentance and restoration we pray. Bring comfort
to families and cover them with your protection and mercy. In Jesus’ name, Amen

CLOSING PRAYER

O Lord, Make us understand that a vocation is not only a matter of attraction.

Enable us to see clearly that it is also a matter of finding, in ordinary events, God's will for us and then
accepting it even if it seems to be baffling and contrary to our wishes. Teach those called to the
marriage state by the Lord to reflect deeply on the delicate choice that will influence their destiny. Let
them not be deceived by their feelings; instead, let them look for the solid qualities that keep a home
united in the joy of the Lord.Teach unhappy spouses the power of patience and mildness. Let them not
give way to discouragement but, like you, let them save both the happiness of their home and the soul
of their spouse. we pray this Prayer for Troubled Marriage through your name and in the name of Jesus
Christ,Amen.
