Cage Making Clips
We stock a range of Cage Making clips to be used with various different gauges of
wire.
J Clips are a lightweight, flexible clip that wraps around the wires and
overlaps. Purpose made for joining wire mesh panels (gauge 12 to 14). The
clips start to become a little loose on 16 and upwards. They can be used on
10 gauge if the gap between fixing points is reduced.

Small Gauge Clips (HD5) are available as galvanised clips or in stainless

steel. Suitable for joining wires with a combined diameter of between 4 to
6mm.

Large Gauge Clips (HD7) are fully galvanised clips of the same design as
the small gauge clips, suitable for joining wires with a combined diameter of
up to 10mm. Great for making heavier gauge cages and fox traps. Creates
a ‘tube’ of minimum diameter of 8mm.

Self-Contained Traps
This is one of the latest additions to the Spring Trap Approval Order for England and is
designed and manufactured in Britain.

The modern design includes several

innovative features making the trap simple,
safe and effective to use:-

Self contained in it’s own mesh cubby with

integral baffles to guide the squirrel to the
strike position for the optimum humane kill.

The powerful killing spring is engaged

AFTER you have set the trap, allowing you to
position and adjust the trigger in complete
safety.

A pendula trigger means that the trap can be

mounted horizontally or vertically, either way
up. No reliance in gravity to trigger a treadle plate.

Ideal for use in lofts and on trees.

Approved for use in England, only for grey squirrel.

Ouell Mouse Trap

The Ouell Mouse Trap was designed and is manufactured in Canada.

It is an unusual but effective design with several

significant differences from the average break back trap.

It has a two stage setting action, making it easier to set

but still packing a humane punch. The bait is set at the
back of the trap not on the trigger. This, combined with
the raised edges, reduces the chances of foul catches

Goodnature Repeating Traps
* A24 - for rats, stoats (and mice) *
* A18 Squirrel- for grey squirrels *

The Goodnature range of traps are a very significant

step forward in small mammal trapping – they are self
resetting, repeating traps which can fire multiple times
without any intervention. They have an integral long-
life lure which can be replaced quickly and easily.

Once triggered the killed pest is released to fall from

the trap, which immediately resets itself while the CO2
canister lasts.

Developed and tested in harsh outdoor environments

Goodnature traps are just as happy in your backyard or
attic as it is in the woods and forests meaning everyone
can do effective pest control.

The A24 trap for rats and stoats has been available for over a year and is expected
to be approved for mice too. We are happy to confirm
that the A18 Squirrel trap will be available in the UK
around November 2018. The A18 will be approved for
the Grey Squirrel in the next release of the Spring
trap Approval Order for England* and stocks are
expected to be ready to ship at that point. At this
stage we cannot confirm an exact date.

Approved Spring Traps
BodyGrip Traps
Named in the Spring Trap Approval Order, these very effective traps
are approved for use on various types of vermin. As with all Spring
Traps these must be used in a tunnel, in order to prevent harm to
any non-target animals. However, for these traps
the the tunnel usually supports the trap as well.
Each size is approved for different species of
vermin.

Approved Spring Traps
WCS Collarum
Designed to capture canines, including the red
fox, by throwing a cable loop over their head
and around their neck. It is not a snare.

The end of the capture loop is anchored in the

ground and the canine is held like a dog on a
chain. It is unique in a number of ways.

It is canine-specific because of the trigger

mechanism, which requires a pull action rather
than the push/depress mechanism usually
employed by traps. This virtually eliminates
catching animals other than canines.

The English approved version features a Relaxalock cable and adjustable stop to
ensure a ‘friendly’ capture and comply with UK legislation. The WCS Collarum has been
added to the list of approved spring traps for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern
Ireland.

WCS Tube Trap

Also great for householders and first time traps this
trap is approved for use on grey squirrel, stoat*,
mink, weasel and rat. Constructed from a
380mm long, 21-gauge steel tube of 114mm
diameter, powered by a powerful double
torsion spring. All parts are precision cut
by laser, so there are no sharp edges to
contend with. Pale green plated finish to give
resistance to rusting. The UK approved version
has a considerably more powerful spring than
it’s American counterpart and is additionally fitted with two ‘killing bars’ inside the
tube.
Approved for use in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Price £67.00 Postage Band D

WCS Tube Trap End Caps

Purpose made, these end caps add to the versatility of the
trap. Used complete on one end they can create a baited
‘blind’ set. Can also be used to restrict entry to the trap
and reduce the chances or catching non-target species.
Just cut a hole of the size you need in the end cap and
fit it over the entrance(s).

Fineren Squirrel Box
Fineren BodyGrip Box for Squirrels
This specially designed bodygrip box was developed by Dave
Fineren to support his work controlling grey squirrels in
Cornwall. A full time trapper employed by the Cornwall Red
Squirrel Project, Dave was looking for a simple, effective and
safe way to use the BMI 116 Magnum traps which are a very
effective and humane killing trap for squirrels. Trapping mostly
in woodlands Dave was particularly looking for a trap housing
solution which would, as much as possible, prevent accidental
catches of birds and other non-target species.

The Fineren Squirrel Box fulfills the two essential

requirements for use with bodygrip traps; they support the
trap to hold it in the correct position and also exclude any non target animals from the
trapping area. Access to the trap is through a double, offset
baffle which means that a squirrel has to get right inside the
trap before triggers the trap. Most birds don’t like going down
into holes and usually won’t go further than the top chamber if
they enter at all.

The box screws closed

making it safe from casual
interference and can be
mounted to a tree, fence,
pole or other surface
– either horizontally or
vertically.

Assembled from 12mm

marine grade plywood, with
all joints glued and pinned,
these boxes have been dipped in water sealant and
can be used straight away.

Fineren BodyGrip Safety Clip

These clips are larger and stronger than conventional
lead clips and have been sourced specially for this
purpose. Unlike most designs of safety clips these
spring clips hold the spring of the trap not the jaw.
They won’t fall off, won’t slip and crucially are big
enough to allow some slack in the spring. You
can set the trap and have all the tension taken
on the trigger but still be confident that if it
should fire, it won’t close on your fingers.

MINKPOLICE Remote Alarm
The MINKPOLICE Remote Alarm
A reliable way to monitor your traps and protect your rural assets, even in remote
locations. Imagine being able to receive a text to tell you that a stable or workshop
door has been opened, or a gate has been passed through.

Battery powered, fully waterproof and utilising

the mobile phone network, the MINKPOLICE
alarm module is completely free
standing. It an be used virtually
anywhere, even in areas of weak
network coverage, and needs no
mains powered base station.

How does it work ?

At the heart of the MINKPOLICE monitoring
device is a simple bit of technology which
behaves a bit like a mobile phone – sending
and receiving data messages via the mobile
phone network. Sealed in its special housing the
MINKPOLICE unit is fully waterproof to 1 meter depth
and being battery powered, (with a long battery life) it is completely free standing. It
an be used virtually anywhere, even in areas of weak network coverage, and needs no
mains powered base station to relay messages.

What is so important for trappers is that the MINKPOLICE software has been
designed to behave like a physical check. MINKPOLICE will not only report when it
has been triggered but will also report up to twice a day that ‘everything is OK’. This
gives confirmation that the trap has not fired but also, crucially, that the unit is still
functioning.

The simple trigger mechanism can be adapted

to almost any situation and is not limited to
any make or model of trap. All that is required
to trigger the alert is to pull the magnetic key
piece away from the alarm unit. A message
will them be immediately sent to multiple
email addresses and by text to one or more
mobile phones. All your MINPOLICE units can
be monitored together through an online web
portal which is also where alert notification is
configured.

MINKPOLICE was developed in Denmark and is already widely used in Europe and
parts of the UK.

Vintage Traps
Being interested in traps & trap
making we have a tendency to collect
information on old traps and trapping
techniques, as well as a few unusual
traps themselves. In recent years
we have often been contacted by
people who are also interested in
vintage traps – usually just looking for
information, sometimes wanting to buy
a particular trap and occasionally with collections to sell. We have built up
such a lot of pictures, diagrams and stories that we were struggling to find a
way to share them.

www.vintagetraps.co.uk is our Virtual Museum and Shop,

specially created to properly showcase and sell vintage traps. The
whole website is full of pictures and information on every
different type of trap that we have come across and we’re
adding to it all the time.
Sometimes we may only have a picture and only the very
basic details, but more often we’ll have a good set of images
and be able to say quite a lot about it. There are even a
good few listed for sale.
