RATIONALE FOR MY PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

As we go on learning life’s lessons we are confronted with various challenges that

may strengthen us or bring us down. We are bound to alter/discover the elucidation
towards overcoming challenges. Change may post as a challenge when subjected to it
without understanding.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
(Nelson Mandela) There is no sure way or formula in shaping the future of the young
ones. My Personal Development Plan is an attempt to make adjustments as we traverse
on the road towards the 21st Century teaching and learning. Professional Interventions
are in response to the required competencies which will help enhanced my teaching skills
responding to the challenges of the 21st Century education. There are ways to achieve
improvement of practice such as; attending trainings and seminars, sharing which is the
transfer of knowledge and witnessing meaningful changes. This Professional
Development Plan is flexible where the activities can be changed depending upon the
situation and availability of resources. Potential barriers and solutions are presented in
preparation for challenges that may occur during the actual implementation of the PDP.

The subject I am currently teaching is Empowerment Technologies in the

Professional Tracks, which leads me to study and use the internet as well as online
learning platform in accomplishing performance task and contextualize learning. It is
exciting depending upon the availability of facilities, however, the subject is irrelevant if
there is no connectivity which may post a great challenge to the teacher. We are
promoting computer literacy which is first in my required competency because I believe
that this is the computer age which will mean that the most important skill to be learned
is manage, use and explore the computer. I am also proposing the online collaborative
learning because I am using that style in my very own class and I realized that it’s
fascinating and doable.
