Weekend League record showing only one loss in 120 games he is
outrageously good at the moment.
That player is F2Tekkz and commenting on his performance he said

Against all odds, Joksan Redona representing Epsilon eSports
wins the PlayStation Continental Cup 2018 in Paris.
A semi-final survey entered by nearly 1,800 people had Redona as
the least likely to win on the final day of the tournament. Over 50%
had MoAuba as the potential winner with 20% opting for TimoX.
However, on the final day and with no easy opposition we saw
Redona dispatch MoAuba in the semi-final and go on to win the final
against Tim ‘TheStrxngeR’ Katnawatos who represents FC Basel.

It’s clear to see that the main man Özil rates this player highly as he
joins a stacked squad with some of the worlds biggest talents such
as M10Usten and Squirrel. They also have a Brazilian Presende who
was in the top 16 players in the world last year.
We don’t know much about the new arrival yet but we know that he was
the Winner of The Studs FIFA championship. This shows that he clearly
has a big potential and to be on the books of Özil and the agency eSports
Reputation it’s clear to see he is a top talent and must be doing something
right we are looking forward to seeing how he develops this season.

back anyone?
These past two weekends MegaBit has taken it to another level
to the point where people are questioning if he is human or not.
He is on an incredible 120 game unbeaten streak across both
consoles after playing 60 games per weekend. The level of focus
and concentration required to do this is unobtainable for most
pros, how he overcomes games where nothing seems to be
working and finds a way out every single time without fail is
truly unique.
It is apparent from MegaBit’s interviews that he will always respect
the opposition but on the other hand is extremely confident and really
does believe in himself to beat anyone in the World when he plays his
A-game and why wouldn’t you? If you are literally unbeatable in FUT
Champions and already qualified for the first FUT Champions Cup he
is having the best possible start.
He took to Twitter and said “30-0 also on PlayStation and Xbox!!
This makes the perfect FIFA weekend a perfect finish for the FUT
Champions Cup, 2x 30-0 and also my spectator record on Twitch
pulverised it does not get any better!”
Then the following week stated “BACK TO BACK 60-0! Also this
weekend no man could beat me, only by I was unfortunately
stopped once ( @EASPORTSFIFA defeat by Disconnect) I am
super satisfied how I am currently playing-so it can be
done! #FUTChampions”.
Gotzery goes
to Epsilon
European powerhouses Epsilon Esports have announced their new
signing who will compete for them and represent Manchester City at
the Gfinity Elite Series. Yannick “Gotzery” de Groot is the new signing,
a German FIFA player managed by one of the biggest agencies in the
game, Stark eSports who have players on their books such as Mo
Auba, Megabit and Eisvogel.
Gotzery had a decent year last year finishing top 8 at FUT Champs Cup
season 2. He will be looking to build on these performances and do his
best for Man City in the elite series.
The move was made possible by Stark eSports who took to Twitter
and said “Gotzery joins @Epsilon_eSports! We are very happy to
announce that our talent Yannick “@GotzeryYT” de Groot joins
Epsilon eSports & represents @ManCity at the Gfinity Elite Series.”
Gotzery also took to Twitter and said “Glad that I can finally announce
I‘ll be playing for @Epsilon_eSports from now on!
It’s also a big pleasure to represent @ManCity in the
@Gfinity Elite Series starting this Friday!

talks his love of football
and the future of
the club
Hashtag, where did it all start?
I’ve been making YouTube videos for ten years now and football
videos for about eight. FIFA was the first thing that gave me my first
traction on YouTube and football has always been my first love. My
love of games stemmed from that. I’ve always loved football games.
I have played other games, but mainly it has been FIFA, Football
Manager and games like that.
I actually made a documentary series about seven years ago on a
non-league club called East Thurrock, no one was watching it back
then, but it actually showed my love of football. I loved making FIFA
content and also wanted to make real football content.
A couple of years ago, along with my brother Seb and girlfriend Alex,
I wanted to do something off the back of the first Wembley cup, but
we couldn’t do the Wembley cup every week because it requires a lot
of money and getting the YouTubers together so often is difficult.
So we decided to do something with more of a grass roots approach.
We took the lads I have been playing football with for many years and
combined with some of my brothers friends and started to film our
football games. We started Hashtag United, whose name was a nod
to the social media world many of us were working in.
At the time I was getting involved in esports and I had started
commentating on FIFA events, like at Gfinity, which produced a
Legends series. I could see how big it was and the potential for FIFA
esports and anticipated how much growth potential there was and I
really wanted to be part of it. I made the decision that I wanted to be
there from the start and so we launched Hashtag United the football
team and Hashtag United esports team.
Tell us about the Wembley Cup?
This started off as a kind of YouTube version of Soccer Aid for
YouTubers. The first year we did it we didn’t have a crowd and it
evolved into having a live crowd for the second and third years. It has
evolved dramatically to the point where we had 34,000 people in the
stadium last year and raised over £65,000 for Sport Relief.
We have added different elements each year, Hashtag United
football team played in it last year and this year we have
another one on 25th November which we have already sold
thousands of tickets for.
In June this year, Hashtag United was
selected to compete in the tenth tier of
English football, how does that feel?
It has been an amazing journey for us to get into non-league, when
we started Hashtag United we discussed and dreamed about how
far we could take the club. We grew a team and a fan base and we
saw the potential with our ability but knew we would only be able to

play for so long ourselves. What would happen once we hang up our
boots, will the team evolve past us which it has now.
As it stands now we are top of our league and have won ten games
in a row. We could not ask for more.
It is amazing to have my own football team in the traditional F.A
pyramid system.
The aim is to create a sustainable football club and do the best
that we can as a team. We would love to get promoted and keep
on growing, climb the divisions but we certainly do not have any
requirement to be in a certain division.
Tell us about the Hashtag United Academy
mini-series and was this a success? And
any plans to do this again?
This was a huge success. The winner, Scott Pollock, has been signed
by Northampton Town and is now in the game FIFA. I made a video
about this for my YouTube channel.
He won our mini-series, played for us for a year and a half and got
our Wembley Cup ‘Man of the Match’ in a game against players like
Steven Gerrard, William Gallas, Robbie Savage, Robbie Fowler—
unbelievable players on the pitch.
Scott Pollock had trials for Crystal Palace before signing for
Northampton. We also found several other great players, more than
ten players came through the series and played for Hashtag. The
mini-series was a great success and we plan to organise another at
some stage.
When did you set up the esports team? How
did you select your first players?
The esports team was launched in conjunction with a YouTube series
called ‘The Spencer FC Game Academy’: our quest to find our first
esports player. This was won by Harry Hesketh. Two and a half years
ago there were more than 12,000 applicants, we got them down to the
Gfinity Series HQ, created eight episodes and Harry won it and he got a
contract with the Hashtag United. He was our first esports professional.
No content like that had really been made for FIFA esports at the
time and people were questioning why. There was no pro FIFA
scene. Within a few weeks the first Weekend League started for FIFA
Ultimate Team (FUT) Champs and Harry qualified number one in the
world. Fast forward two years and Harry has qualified for nearly every
major event since and proved a few people wrong silencing some
critics. He is right up there with the best in the game.
The next two players we signed were Boras Legend and Tass
(now FaZe Tass). I knew them both from the scene where they
had been playing Legends events and I had been commentating.
Tass won his first FUT Regional Champions Cup and our first
trophy in Paris in 2017.
Then we later went on to sign the likes of Agge, Hashtag Ryan and
most recently Honey Badger.
Tell us about the journey to becoming one of
the most successful teams around?
For us personally, we tried to pick the players that represent us best.
We are a content driven world, we need people to be confident, to
behave properly and represent us in the right way.
There are a lot of great players out there but not necessarily ones
that we would consider to be a Hashtag player. We have to be
selective to make sure the Hashtag name is looked after and so too
are our fans.
Currently, we are the most successful team out there in FIFA esports.
We had the most players representing us at the FIFA eWorld Cup and
in the run up to the event last august, we were very successful in both
qualifiers and regional tournaments.
It is difficult this year, what with a much more challenging format.
However, we want to make sure that we give our players the best
chances of doing well. We decided to prioritise the boys abilities to
play FIFA in the right conditions. Last year, we set them up with a HQ
and were one of the first FIFA teams to do so.
This season, we have a brand new HQ and we continue to try to give
them the best resources properly and we continue to take it seriously.
The former organisation of Honey Badger
took to Twitter and thanked you for the way
you conducted the approach. Are other
esports teams as honourable?
As with any new and unregulated industries, some teams /
companies do things the right way and some don’t.
I certainly want to try and set an example as I am quite involved
in the industry to do things the right way. As in this instance
you are talking about team FUTWIZ who handled it brilliantly so
kudos to them. At the end of the day it depends how long you
want to be involved in the industry, if you want to be around for a
long time or not.
To have success in the industry you need to treat everyone as you would
want to be treated. You meet everyone twice, once on your terms once

on their terms. This time it was a team FUTWIZ player we were looking
to sign.
Tell us about the Gfinity Draft and what can
we expect from the Elite Series?
On FIFA, we drafted Shawrey on Xbox and Ethan (Ethan Higgins
@HashtagEthxnH) on PlayStation, both really nice lads and
doing good stuff.
The draft concept is new and really different. As well as the players draft,
there is the auction so no two teams will look the same. The format is also
new for the Gfinity Elite Series, which means 2v2 is subject to yet another
change. It’s all set up for an exciting series in a brand new format.
Do you still play and how would you fare on
the pro scene?
I have been playing Weekend League so far this season and am
currently on the border of elite getting 23 wins out of 30 last weekend.
I used to be decent, I once beat the former World Champion Alfonso
Ramos back in 2013 at West Ham, but that is my claim to fame.
I am probably better than most amateurs but the pro scene is all about
consistency so although I could nick a win here or there against these
guys overall they are so consistent, they are on a different level.
You have done some great work for charity,
how important is this for you?
This is very important to me. I am actually starting a new series
which I will be recording, I am going to watch or play 30 matches
in 30 days on the build up to the Wembley Cup. I am going to some
really cool games, gonna play some pick-up games with viewers, it’s
going to be really cool and hopefully will raise awareness and some
good money for men’s health.
Would it be a dream to line up a fixture for
West Ham to play Hashtag?
If we ever meet in the league it will be a really sad day for West Ham,
the quickest we could get to the Premier League would be nine years
but that would take a lot more money!
However, it is not that unbelievable that it could not happen, the team
we are ground sharing with, Haringey Borough, are only a couple of
leagues above us has been drawn against AFC Wimbledon in the FA
Cup and this will be televised on BBC 2.
If Hashtag keep improving and we get to maybe the first round of the
FA Cup we could get a decent league team and maybe get a prem
team if we got through.
To one day play a team like West Ham would be a dream, maybe a friendly. EWF
He’s one of the best players on the FIFA
scene and despite his depature from Unilad,
he is looking to do great things this season.
How long have you been playing FIFA?
I have been playing FIFA as for long as I can remember. I always used
to watch my dad play video games from when I was little so my love
for gaming started very early.
What is it about Pro Clubs that you enjoy?
Pro Clubs was where I began playing FIFA, at the time when I was
younger, I loved creating and having my own player so Pro Clubs
was the place to be. I think just playing with multiple people is what
makes me enjoy pro clubs so much, 1v1s can get boring at times but
when you’re with someone it makes it 10x better.
Could EA do more for Pro Clubs?

When did you know you were good enough
to turn pro?
I always thought I was very good at fifa from around FIFA 13, but I
didn’t really believe I could ever become a pro. After I saw Bacha win
the FIWC Final in 2016, that kind of motivated me into trying it as I
knew Bacha from Pro Clubs. So, in FIFA 17 when they introduced the
new mode FUT Champions, the route to becoming a pro was much
clearer and my journey began there.
How did you get signed as pro?
I think EA have just got to show Pro Clubs some love. It’s
been about 3-4 FIFA’s now where they haven’t added anything
new, simple things as; customizing boots, new hairstyles,
accessories such as headbands etc... Simple things like that
will make the game mode a lot better.
How big could Pro Clubs get?
For me, Pro Clubs could be a huge thing in esports but that’s just my
opinion. I would love to play a 11v11 at a LAN event, I think it would
be so exciting to watch and participate in.

I guess my finish at the Ultimate Team Championship got me signed What are your goals for this year?

My goal for every year is to win a tournament, but I guess we’ll have

It’s still the early stages of FIFA 19, everyone is still learning and
adapting to the new game but its okay so far, but there are still a lot
of things that needs to be changed.

What was the last tournament you

participatedin and how did it go?

The last tournament I participated in was the Club eWorld Cup, which
was in Paris, where I was teaming up with Gorilla. We went out in the
groups but as a personal performance it was some of the best FIFA I
played all year.

Tell us a bit more about pro clubs, what team

did you represent?

In Pro Clubs, I play in two leagues, the VFL where I am currently at

Arsenal and VPG where I represent a team call Seazon.

How did your last season in pro clubs go?

season was that no team could use the same
players in their Ultimate Team. Before the

had R9 in their team (which they did) no one
else could have.

What’s your view on the
2 v 2 format at this year’s
Gfinity Elite Series? 

Brian: It’s a good thing. It will be more fun

because you are winning with a teammate and
you are losing with a teammate and yet to enjoy
a victory with someone I’m looking forward
to do it. It’s not easy to practice, but I’m quite
confident to play 2 v 2 with my teammate. 

What did you make of the auction? 

Mike ‘Gregan’ Ellis - Team Manager: At first

it was quite confusing because I didn’t really
know what the strategy was because we were
going into an auction that was going to decide
the whole season. I was quite impressed
with the players in the team. We got Cristiano
Ronaldo really early on.  

Brian: I was quite surprised that we got him for

150 million coins. 

Who was your top picks?

Brain: We got Stoichkov, Crespo and Cannavaro

as well. Overall a really good team, but maybe
I’m a bit scared about Cannavaro because he is
fast and strong, but maybe a bit small. 

Mike: When you consider last season CR7

was the highest scorer because it was so
hard to defend against him and now some
people’s defence is going to be worse, so
I feel like having that power is going to be
much more important this season than the
last one. I think it’s worth a lot more than
people realise having that outstanding player
on the team. 

Is there any play that you Vitality Brian

missed out on that you would
have quite like for the squad? 

Brian: I would say Neymar. He went for quite a

lot so we didn’t get him. 

How does your squad rate up

against the other teams? Who would you say are Mike: I reckon Roma/Fnatic are going to be quite
your main rivals in the good because they’re all living in a house together
I think overall it seems balanced but we have Gfinity Elite Series?  so they will be doing 2 v 2 in the house and they
CR7 and I think he is one of the main attributes are very close now, other than that everyone

What’s your view on the
2 v 2 format at this year’s
Gfinity Elite Series?  who will play defence?
It came as a bit of a shock to the players
because this is obviously something
completely new to them, something
completely different, they’ve never played 2
v 2 in any kind of competitive tournament,
they’re used to just relying on themselves. So
this is something that’s giving them a fresh
approach to the whole FIFA sports idea. I
think it’s going to be really exciting because
it just adds a different element to FIFA, which
has been missing. The whole communication
element, normally on stage there’s not much
interaction, there’s not much personality,
now you might get a player jumping up,
giving a hi-five, giving each other a hug, or
maybe trying to throw each other off stage
if someone makes a mistake. You get more
interaction; it’s a bit more fun for the viewers,
so I’m quite excited.  occasions where people are drafted in that

What did you make of
the auction? 
Our Focus was icons. So there are players
in the game the Legends that have been
brought back that are sometimes overlooked
because players maybe don’t even know
them, like Eusébio. So we focused on icons
and we did manage to get Eusébio that was
our star pick. We’ve got a good squad, that’s
what the players tell me. We missed out on
Cristiano Ronaldo, but then everyone would
sit here and say that they missed out on him,
he is by far the best player in the game but
the guys who did end up getting him Vitality
paid ridiculous amounts for him and that
kind of ruined the rest of their squad, so
actually we’re kind of glad we didn’t get him
for the price he went for. 
How does your squad rate up
against the other teams?
I’m biased, but I think we got the best team, I
look across the board and in my opinion we
have the strongest. We got the most icons. I
think we got like 6 icon players in the starting
11, so you know; we’ve got, for me, the most
solid team.
Who would you say are
your main rivals in the
Gfinity Elite Series? 
So far in FIFA we’ve not really built a strong
rivalry with anyone. I would say the guys
coming back, Reason Gaming, had previously
UK based brands and that is definitely a unique
selling point as a brand. We are UK based and
we focus on UK Talent. Some of the teams are
European based so we don’t need to see them
as rivals, but anyone who claims to hail from
those guys, we see as rivals. 
As for the Gfinity Elite Series, so Hashtag are in
our group and they are definitely the guys that
we are looking to beat. If we can beat them
then we should be ok.

What’s your view on the
2 v 2 format at this year’s
Gfinity elite series?

Hashtag Harry: Yeah it’s good. I have always

thought 2 v 2 has a big place in FIFA esports.
2 v 2 allows each person to bounce off each
other a little bit more and you get that reaction
that you would never get in 1 v 1. It’s a lot more
engaging as a viewer and obviously just more
fun to be a part of. With regards to defending
and attacking I prefer to attack I think everyone
just wants to score goals you know I think
that’s just natural in football, but I’ve not
actually played any 2 V 2 yet so I’m just getting
Hashtag Harry
to know all the ins and outs of the 2 V 2 game.

Hashtag Wes: Yeah it’s very exciting, once

again, like Harry said from a personality
perspective it’s going to be great fun. A lot
of the Hastag lads are actually playing in the
football team together so there is already a
great chemistry there.

Who were your top picks?

Hashtag Harry: Have to say Gullit. He’s the best

player in the game. It was a good job he wasn’t
bought out first because we didn’t know the
benchmark. Cristiano Ronaldo was up first and
someone put in a bid of 140 million, so then
we knew the sort of benchmark and what we
were going to have to pay for the top players.
Literally we bought three players and had
spent over half of our budget and one of those
players was a left back.

How does your squad rate up

against the other teams?

Hashtag Harry: If we don’t win it then we can’t

blame it on the team. That’s the way I see it. Hashtag Wes

Hashtag Wes:. There was lots of strategy

involved in the auction. At one point we were
putting players up and not bidding for them in
order to take the other teams budgets down.

Is there any players that you

missed out on that you would
have like for the squad?
Hashtag Harry: We got the players that we
really wanted in Gullit and Pele.
Who are your main rivals in
the Gfinity Elite Series?
Hashtag Harry: Well you’ve got Man City and
Roma Fnatic. I would say the football teams
that have esports teams attached to them.
Roma Fnatic will be a good game. We’ve got
them in the last game of the group stages.
They live in a house together so they’ve got
a good advantage.

What’s your view on the
2 v 2 format at this year’s
Gfinity elite series?
Venny: Personally I actually like the idea. I
think it gives us a different element of FIFA
to think about. It has been the 1 v 1 system
for so long, having a 2 v 2 system gives you
somebody to play with. It gives the fans a lot
more interaction. With 1 v 1 there’s a lot less
celebrations, but now you have a teammate
that you can engage in a celebration with.

Also, different tactics come into the game, before
you just had your own play style, but now you got
somebody else’s play style to worry about.
Have you already worked out
who will play offence and who
will play defence?
Robert ‘Pughy’ Pugh: Nothing is set just yet.
We are still kind of adjusting to it; you kind of
have to get your groove. I feel that once you
are up there on stage, I think that will affect
the mindset a lot. It’s gonna take a little bit of
experimenting too an extent to figure out the
exact combo.
Venny: For sure, we were playing a bit yesterday
and I noticed the way I defend is a bit different.
Some players like to be quite aggressive in
defence where I like to take my time wait
for the perfect opportunity to get the ball, so
we’re trying to get a good balance, when to go
and when not to and same with attack, some
players are very fast, but I’m quite slow, take my
time, so it’s just trying to find the right balance.
What did you make of the auction?
Pughy: I really liked it, even though it took a
long time. It took way longer than expected.
We had a good game plan and we kind of
wound up with a very good team.
Who was your top picks?
Venny: I would say George Best; he’s like this
superstar in our team really. We also got Figo,
Nedvěd, Gerrard, Seedorf and Campbell. We’ve
also got Kluivert playing up top for us. So we’ve
got quite a lot of icons.
How does your squad rate
against the other teams?
Venny: I think they are all quite balanced.
Pughy: Some teams have superstars, but weak
support, so if their superstars don’t pop it in,
their defence could crumble.
Are there any players that
you missed out on?
We missed out on, Cruyff, Envy out bid
us. They bid 125 million, which when
actually compared to all the other big
names was a really good price.
Who would you see as your
main rivals in this Gfinity elite
series?
Pughy: Reason have one of our players from
last season so there is a bit of rivalry there. We
want to beat them, but we also want him to do
well as well.

What’s your view on the
2 v 2 format at this year’s
Gfinity elite series? 

Zimme: I think it’s good actually. It brings

communication. It’s very different from 1 v 1.
In order to actually play well one has to defend
and one has to attack and everyone has to
be the goalkeeper, as well, so it’s all about
communication really. 

You can play on both

PlayStation and Xbox, which
one will you be competing on
in the Gfinity elite series? 

Zimme: I will be playing on PS4 only, I think, if

I have to play on the Xbox then that’s fine, but CoJo
for now just PS4.  

CoJo: It will depend on availability, as well,

for example if the Xbox Guy has qualified for
an event that’s the same weekend as Gfinity,
or something, then he might come in as a
substitute to play on the Xbox. 

Which player did you spend

the most on at the auction? 

CoJo: Socrates was the player that we spent

the most on. Our frontline is a good mix of the
kind of players that the guys have all used.
That’s one big thing that a lot of players didn’t
think about necessarily. There are some really
good players, but if you haven’t used them then
you’re not going to have the understanding
of the capabilities of the player, so we picked
players like Salah and Hazard.

Are there any players that

you missed out on?

Cojo: Yes Mbappé. We actually submitted

a bid that was basically a dollar more than
the one that won, but we were two seconds
late on the timer, so yeah we’re missing him
and changed the entire way our team would
have looked, because then we would have
Zimme
gone for Neymar and other players because
of chemistry purposes, but it didn’t really
work out. We had a backup plan, so when
we didn’t get Mbappé, we went for Salah
and Hazard, Premier League players we are
used to using..

Method’s Robert ‘Pughy’ Pugh talks about being the manager of Method, what he looks for
when scouting players and who he would like to poach
What’s your job as team manager?
My job as team manager is essentially making sure everything’s
running smoothly and players are happy. This means making sure all
content is shared on social media, organising events/who goes to
what and anything the players need. As Gfinity manager I’m involed in
doing the draft, picking dates, making sure players know what’s going
on, being at the live events and so you can imagine quite a lot.
How does the Draft work?
The draft system is pretty straight forward and worked well, all 10
managers were logged into OnlineDraft where all the players are
listed with their information. Depending on the order each manager
picks a player, if you’re lucky you’ll get the one you want and if not
you have 3 minutes to decide. After the first pick the order is reversed
and the second draft for Xbox started.
What do you look for when signing a player?
For this season of Gfinity we had a few things we were looking for,
Method’s mainly a UK based team and we were hoping to get more
British players, with the right attitude plus knowing that our current
players are happy with the picks is important for team spirit.
As a manger do you choose which players
play during the elite series?
I guess in one sense I could technically change which players we put
up, for the most part though it’ll be agreed our signed pros are up
first unless they’re unable to play.
What other competitions does the team take
part in other than the Gfinity series?
All the pro’s we have compete in their respective games, on FIFA the
pro season has started back up which is exciting as the off period
can be slow. The current Rocket League team did well in the
Rocket League Rival Series, which is the challenger version of pro
series and then the SFV guys travelled to a lot of events. I think
more tournaments and events are always a benefit so would love
to see more of these types of events although I think replicating
Gfinity’s system would be incredible hard. I feel like Gfinity being
located in the UK creates a great hub that makes it easier for all the
international teams to group up and play, while that’d be far harder to
pull of in the US.
Which club is your biggest rival?
For now all rivalries are just those who beat us last season, which is
Vitality in Rocket League, UniLad in FIFA and last season we didn’t
make it out of groups in Street Fighter so all the teams there.
If you could poach a player who would it be?
I could probably spend a lot of time considering which player
would be the best to poach and why, if we’re strictly speaking
about players who have competed in Gfinity I’d pick Gorilla as
he’s a great player and seems to have real passion you won’t
get in everyone.
How good are you at FIFA, can you give your
team a run for their money?
Ah this is a shaming question, I sadly haven’t played FIFA in many
years. I used to play it all the time with my friends and was okay
(being the best one out of your mates doesn’t mean much). I’m
hyper competitive and can pick up games quickly so while I’d still
get destroyed by my players, I’d make it frustrating for them to play
against if I had some good practice time.
What’s your proudest moment in FIFA
so far?
I’ve been with Method for 6 months with a big part of that being
the off season so right now I’d say my proudest moment was when
Venny and Riptorek qualified for FeCWC in Paris by topping their
group as they were pretty much brand new to the team. EWF

I feel 27 is too low for verification...Considering
you only have to get it once the whole year
and it’s only 4 extra wins from Elite 3. A bang
average player who gets Elite 3 could have a
lucky weekend and then be competing in big
tournaments all year taking up spaces in them
and making qualifiers longer. There is already
loads of players in these qualifiers so I can’t
imagine what it’s gonna be like in a couple
months.
As you can see the majority, if not all the top
players are currently verified and have hit 28’s
or 29’s maybe even 30 so I think raising the bar
to 28 is a viable option

players who have got T100, get verified

How long has London Esports been around?
Daniel Smith: London Esports has been around for a number of
years, but are mainly known for other games such as Dota, but as
far as FIFA we are the first players to be signed by them.
How long have you both been playing FIFA?
Ife Aromona: I started with FIFA 11 and ever since then I’ve just
been playing it constantly. I just felt this passion about FIFA and I’ve
always been good at it. I mean at the beginning I wasn’t great, but
as I practised I improved massively.
Smith: I’ve been playing FUT since FIFA 12, but it wasn’t till around
FIFA 17 that I really stepped it up and actually started playing
competitively, playing pros and winning against them and just
trying my best at FUT Champs. To be honest I was losing a lot of
games, but playing pros always helps and it’s just about practice.
What are your aims for the season?
Aromona: I’d like to win a tournament. There’s a tournament coming
up soon, maybe even reach the semi-final and hopefully qualify for
the FUT Champions LAN events.
Smith: Yeah I’m looking to go FUT Champions verified and as soon
as that happens I will try and make it to a LAN event and go from
there. I’m hoping by next year that I will be at a LAN event.
Who are the best players out there at the moment?
Smith: At the moment from what I’ve seen Tekkz looks really good.
I mean he showed what he could do last year, personally I don’t
think he was the best last year, but he did what he did at Barcelona
and now he is taking it to another level only losing one game in
Weekend League.
Another player that looks really good and is going under the radar is
Aerox buzzer he looks on fire right now.
Aromona: I’ve got to agree with that statement, I’ve been watching
Tekkz’ streams and he’s actually unbelievable. Like how he plays
is unbelievable the skills he does and the way he dribbles and stuff
like that is unbelievable.
Smith: His style is very composed, he has possession and pace, but
he is very skilful. He puts in a lot of things that a lot of pros wouldn’t
expect you to do which is quite a similar way to how I play.
Is 27 too easy on Weekend League
qualification and is there a best time to play?
Aromona: No. I wouldn’t say it was too easy because last year when
you won your first 10 games, or you go 9 and 1 you’re happy, or
you go 8 and 2 you’re happy, you go 7 and 3 your still happy, but

your first 10 games in this FIFA you go 9 and 1 you’re not as
happy as you would be last year because you know you can
only lose 2 games to get into the verification, so I feel like
it’s a whole lot harder to get verified or to hit 27 this year
then it was last year.
Smith: When you get to the sort of 25-26 everyone is matching
each other, you’re always getting matched against a lot of pro
players. I’ve seen some pros that have hardly matched any, but the
majority are playing pros which I think is a good thing, but when
it’s coming to who gets verified, or someone getting verified, and
someone playing a pro and someone else is playing a gold 3 player
it’s not exactly fair.
Late Sunday or early Monday morning is a good time to play to
avoid pros. We call them ‘Monday-morning-merchants’ but then a
lot of pros also do play at that time just to finish their games so you
can match pros at that time.
Some pros play all their games on a Friday just so they can
enjoy their weekend like Tekkz. He will play all his games on a
Friday, but you know it doesn’t really make a difference when
you play your games.
Me personally I generally play until I lose. If I don’t lose for the first
10 games, I’ll stop at 10. If you’ve taken a loss the best thing to do
is stop just have a 10-15 minute break go have a drink watch a bit
of TV.
Aromona: Also if you feel like your last win was a very tight game
and you can feel yourself getting tilted at the next game do not play
because I did it in the first weekend and lost two games in a row it
was so annoying.
If you could change one thing about FIFA 19
what would it be?
Aromona: I’d have to say there’s so many. I’d probably say
sometimes the touch is a bit weird. There are a lot of things to
change, but you can adapt to those changes. I like FIFA 19. I don’t
mind it, but I just need to adjust to it. Once I can adjust to it I’ll
be fine.
Smith: The thing is FIFA 19 is completely different to any other FIFA
we’ve played and they’ve tried to increase the skill gap, but at the
same time with the AI defending and with the corner goals you can
literally sit back and let AI defend. Anyone can beat anyone literally
anyone can beat anyone.
You can pass it around the whole game and counter-attack and
score a corner goal, that’s what is going to happen and I think
they need to find something that’s going to increase the skill gap
genuinely rather than keep having AI defending so OP, but I think
that this FIFA has the potential to be one of the best we’ve played,
but there are a few things that need to change. EWF

VFL ESPANYOL
So how did you come to be running the team?
We have always had an interest in Spain and after our endeavours
in Italian football we decided to make the change. We feel that the
the quick flowing passing play that is shown in real life is mirrored
in VFL’s Spanish leagues and we wanted a new challenge.
Tell us about your VFL career history to date?
If I was to tell you everything about my history then this interview
would be far too long.
I started off on FIFA 17, with my friend JestingTerror playing for
Swindon Town FC, which did not go as planned. Moving on swiftly
we arrived at Barnet playing under Liam Lopez x. We enjoyed our
time here and unfortunately lost the Capital One Cup Final against
Bournemouth that season.
We then moved to Italy playing for Hellas Verona under I Leadus
21 I, This wasn’t a great season for us and management changed
hands during it. JestingTerror took over the management and I
became his Co-Manager, this was our first season in management
and turned out to be quite successful.
We signed Snakeeye1994 and II TWISTED X II along with reuniting

with a fellow player from Barnet, DuncanHD (la). Pairing this with
Runny who bagged 21 league goals we found ourselves in the
playoffs, unlikely as it seemed. We narrowly lost out in the Final
against VFL Sassoulo, a lot of time-wasting (still salty).
This left us eager to get us promoted in the next season, again just
falling sort again after reaching the playoffs for the second time
now. In the third season we signed I Wardy 7 I , who’d eventually
become the clubs renowned ‘tap-in merchant’, we bolstered the
defence with MorganDeacy and this seemed to be a top class
addition as 3 from 4 defenders got TOTS, including myself.
Once again made it to the playoffs and as you could probably have
guessed we bottled it once again. Now into the fourth season and the
new FIFA 18, we still had no silverware to show for it. Unfortunately
we had to sell MorganDeacy and with the friendlies glitch that seemed
to last centuries we failed to make the playoffs for the first time. After
spending four seasons at Hellas it was time for a new challenge so we
did a loyalty switch to Barnsley FC in league one.
Moving to Barnsley FC we brought the core bunch of lads with us,
Snake, Twisted, Eggy, Wardy. This was a difficult season for us
and we actually managed to get ourselves relegated.

but for the most part the team stayed unchanged and with that
followed two mediocre seasons in League Two and that brings us
to where we are today
Which of the VFL leagues is RCD Espanyol competing in?
This season we will be competing in La Liga. The hope for
this season is a strong league campaign with a good run
in the cup
Is it a highly competitive league?
I don’t think its ‘highly’ competitive per se but definitely everyone
goes out with the win as the main objective but it is also a lot of fun
at the same time.
VFL over VPG why is that?
I don’t think there is much of a difference, when I got into the
game VFL had its game on the weekend and that just always
suited me better.
How do you select players when it comes to trials?
We like to give everyone we can trials as sometimes you can find

the diamond in the rough, we find them anywhere really, the trialling
page (standard), twitter,(somewhere out there), even Xbox groups
(good luck finding people who know what VFL is!!).
What makes a player stand out?
Someone who stands out would have to be capable of playing
their position with a strong knowledge of the game mechanics. We
also like people who we are able to get along with and have some
laughs with, as we believe strongly in a solid team game with a
good bond on and off the pitch too.
What formation do you prefer and why?
Personally I am liking 4-2-3-1(1) so far in FIFA 19. I feel it gives the
team a good mix of defensiveness with the two CDM’s while still
giving us the width of the two LAM and RAM’s, which suits our play
style with big target man/tap-in merchant Wardy(Wardinho)
Can you get a spot in Europe?
Well we are not looking that far into the future, we take every day
as it comes and try to tackle that, we are definitely looking to get
promoted but I don’t think many of us are thinking about Europe at

League One football team Scunthorpe United

have entered the world of Pro Clubs, Here
they share their views.

How did the formation of the esports team
come about?
Many of us have played together for a while under different team
names and when Scunthorpe United FC expressed an interest in
entering an esports team in VPG, we were chosen to represent them.
How close will the links with the real
footballing side will be?
They too are really excited in seeing how their esports team can develop.
Who is managing the team?
Danny Pierce is the Manager and Jamie Cooper is the Co-Manager.
We both have experience in managing Pro Clubs teams in VPG and
feel we can do a great job representing Scunthorpe United FC.
How have you selected players for the team?

We are in contact with a representative of Scunthorpe United FC
and we contact each other a few times a week. They have kindly
offered to help with certain things (social media coverage, team
advice, giveaways) as and when they are needed which is support
we’re extremely grateful for.
We have held a few trials over recent weekends and
picked the best players that we have seen play. We have
also chosen some players who are well known in the VPG
community and have a lot of experience to make sure we
have a solid spine to the team.

we are extremely happy to represent Scunthorpe and try to
become one of the best teams in VPG.
Will you be looking to have a big squad?
We are looking to have a consistent starting 11 and around 7 squad
players, who will play a more rotational role in our team. Getting
the balance right is important - we want to build good chemistry
in the squad with regular players, without the same players feeling
pressured to play all the time.
Tell us about some of the squad?
Some of the squad are players we have played with over the past
few seasons; they’re a great bunch with great personalities. The
players we’ve just brought in are gelling nicely with the rest of the
team, and we are excited to see them excel.
What league have you been entered in?
We have been entered into League 1 North, two divisions
behind the Premier League. We think it’s great to start in
League 1, mainly due to Scunthorpe United also competing in
League 1 in the English divisions.
Would you like to see some of the real football
teams rivals setting up esports teams?
We would love to see more teams getting involved and bringing
rivalries from the real world into the esports world.
Will the backing of the football club give you
an unfair advantage over other teams?
Not at all, we feel that just because we have the name it doesn’t
mean we will get the best players available. VPG has some very
strong and dominant teams who are not partnered with a club. But
we are extremely happy to represent Scunthorpe and try to become
one of the best teams in VPG.
Can you get to the VPG Premier League?
We feel that we can get to the Premier League within a few
seasons, we are just going to take every season as it comes and
see where we are at the end of every season, this way we can re-
evaluate the team’s potential as we go. EWF.

team Villagers FC about FIFA 19 Pro Clubs.
As a team you were launched in 2009,
share with us a little about your history?
We started as a group of friends playing a bit of FIFA besides
Killzone 2. I used to be in a clan and after joining a FIFA Pro Club
as a player, I decided to step up and be a manager.
The first few years we only had Dutch players and only played
Seasons. But since 2015 we became competitive and competed
in FVPA, OGC, FCC, VFL and VPG. With VFL Real Betis we finished
2nd in S31. In the European Premier League S8 we finished 2nd
as well.
As Dutch United 09 we were the champions of FVPA UK League
Cup and Community Shield 2015, and OGC Division 1 and 2 in 2017.
Now as Villagers FC, we won the VPG Europa Cup S9 in 2018.
What league are you currently competing in?
VFL eSports and VPG Championship South. VFLe was previously
VFL Competitive. I spoke a lot to Jack Maddox (now PS4 Head
Admin of VFL) about VFLe and how it could be interesting for
clubs to join.
In my opinion, the regular VFL in weekends isn’t interesting for
esports organizations and real life clubs to join.
VFLe offers clubs to use a name of their choice. They organize
both tournaments and leagues. It’s interesting to see what they
will bring in the future.
You have had some interesting developments
recently, tell us about the merger with Dutch
United 09?
This brings us back to 2015 again. We played in the FVPA with
them and always had a good bond together. We liked playing
against each other and there was a healthy rivalry between us. I
liked the way they ran their social media and they became very
popular in a short period of time.
They became even bigger when they merged into Villagers FC as
part of Sinai Village. After quite a while, Bette Jalle decided to
leave Sinai Village. I had some conversations with organizations
as well. Both Dutch as international organizations. For example
Flash Point eSports, ECV eSports, Team Gullit and more. All
amazing organizations who were open to Pro Clubs, but not in the
near future.
Sinai were interested from the start and we didn’t need much time
to merge Dutch United 09 into Villagers FC
So how big is the squad right not and are
you looking for more additions?
At the moment we are trialling again. We joined the VPG a bit late,
so most clubs are completed. But we are always looking to become
better. We were 2nd last season in the VPG eSports Prem. But I
had to step down because of the lack of time due to my wife being
pregnant and an escalated disagreement with the VPG owner.
Luckily, everything is taken care of and we are looking forward
playing both VFLe and VPG once again.
How do you recruit players and what do
you look for in trials?
Mainly by using Twitter and mentioning VFL/VPG. When they
retweet, I receive many DM’s. And of course, I ask my players if
they know people who want to trial for us.
How does the team practise and what
drills do you do?
We play Seasons or arrange some friendlies. I try to actively coach
in game.
Whats the aim for this season?
We started rebuilding Villagers FC obviously, but hope to be
promoted into the VPG eSports Prem again.
I’m also looking forward to the development of VFL eSports.
That’s really something very interesting for many clubs.
What are the biggest problems with
running a team on the Pro Club scene?
Loyalty. I think everybody in the Pro Clubs scene agrees.
Within your league what are some of the
frustrations you face?
Admins do their best obviously. It’s not a paid function, so I have
much respect for them. For me, it’s the rules. They should be
clear for everyone. Like reschedules, every manager knows the
playing days and times when joining a league. If you can’t make
it, don’t join.
The waiting is also horrible. 15-20 minutes of delay is too long. I
feel like 5-10 minutes would be long enough. But that it up to the
owners to decide.
Another thing, we all hate pay-to-win in games. I don’t think paying
should lead to certain advantages for clubs.
How do you aim to develop the team?
By playing together a lot and staying positive and respectful
towards each other. When people have fun while playing, they will
play better. That is my motto.
Can Pro clubs become commercial? Can you grow your fan base?
Yes, it can. When I take Epsilon eSports as the example.
Everybody wants to beat them, it is the team to beat. We all know
they are the best nowadays and most of the Pro Clubs community
have massive respect for them. And they deserve it as they put in
so much effort.
And yes, we can grow our fan base. Villagers FC/Sinai has a really
good name in the Pro Clubs community as well. I receive many
DM’s from people who played for Villagers FC before or want to
join. The cool designs I get from Sinai really help.
What can the various leagues like VPG and
VFL do to develop the game further?
It’s dificult. VFL and VPG do what they can. They have a huge
fanbase on twitter and try to contact the people at EA. But EA in
the end are the ones who need to develop the game. And I don’t
feel like they are listening to their community at all. Nothing
changed in FIFA 19, not even the layout.
What would you like to see from FIFA?
Being able to create set pieces. New hairstyles, beards, tattoos.
Being able to create own kits and upload your own logo.
There was a feature years ago called GameFace. Which works
good in UFC. How cool would it be if you could play with your own
face on your pro?
Do not put CB in the wall when a free kick is taken.
Add the Arena to Pro Clubs so you can practice with your team.
Still being able to see player stats for your club after they leave to
play somewhere else.
And I can go on like this forever... If EA would listen to their
paying community for once, we could make it the best game
