India is one of the world's fastest growing economies and its demand for energy is ever increasing. The security of India's energy supply is the
foremost challenge. Besides energy security, there is also need to develop and harness environmentally-friendly clean energy
resources in line with the global trend. Energy security for India pertains to the availability and security of all fuel sources. The
fast paced growth of Indian economy, the third largest in terms of GDP based on purchasing power parity, has resulted
in a surging demand for energy which is projected to grow at the rate of three percent over next three decades.
India is currently challenged due to inadequate availability of feedstock and building blocks in
comparison to the competing countries blessed with oil and gas resources. India imports much of its
feedstock, which poses a huge imbalance in ability to sustain growth, given the limitation of
resources in a growing economy. There is a need to aggressively pursue alternate sources like
coal, pet coke and bio-mass. India, with its large deposit of coal can pursue a similar strategy,
where proven technologies for coal based synfuels and chemicals are already commercially
available.
To bring a focus to the potential of gasification in India, Mission Energy Foundation (a not-for-profit organisation)
has successful delivered series of annual conferences started as “COAL GAS” beginning in 2008. Every year, the
conferences have attracted 275+ participants across the globe with outcome of various discussion related to science,
technology and policy of gasification of coal, biomass and other carbonaceous feedstock's, as well as applications to power generation,
production of liquid fuels, and related topics.
Scope of the international conference is to estimate the global market for gasification by the end of 2020. This conference will also provide a detailed qualitative and quantitative
analysis of the global gasification market, a comprehensive review of major drivers, restraints, opportunities, winning imperatives, and key issues in the gasification market. This
symposium will provide a platform to promote the benefits of gasification, its application, the environmental and economic appeal and new applications for this traditional technology
against current challenges.

Gasification Technologies & Research Council of India (GTRC) an initiative of Mission Energy Foundation, a
national organisation promoting a better understanding of role gasification can play in providing power, chemical and
refining industries with economically competitive and environmentally conscious technology option to produce electricity, fuel
and chemicals & providing a forum for exchange of information and expertise in the field of gasification technology at national &
international level.
The council's mission is to foster the increased utilization gasification technology, through the promotion of the environmental, economic
and technical advantages, to benefit members and the community as a whole. To encourage, promote and facilitate education, research
and other activities for gasification technology. We would work for the council to be recognized as an effective industry organisation, nationally
and internationally, in representing the interests of its members in the further development of the technology. visit http://gtrc-india.org
