This document summarizes the analysis of the existing ticket booking system at Ventura Cinemas in Ibadan, Nigeria. The existing system uses a partially automated and manual process. Tickets are printed from software but must be stamped before issuing. Customers view movie schedules on a dashboard and queue to purchase tickets. Problems with this system include requiring customers to visit the cinema to book tickets or view schedules, queues forming during popular movies, high staffing costs, and limited record keeping abilities. To address these issues, the document suggests developing a web-based ticket booking system that allows online scheduling, booking of tickets from anywhere at any time, reduces staff and costs, and improves record keeping through a database.

Ticket booking in Ventura Cinemas is done partly manual and automated. The tickets formats are design using computer software but need to be stamped manually before it will be issued to the customer. When customers entered into the cinema, there is a dashboard where they can check the movie schedules. Doing this, they can determine their desired movie and will have to move to the ticket section where they will have to queue if need be to book the ticket for the movie they intended to watch. The staff in charge of the movie schedule dashboard will provide the details on the dashboard which only the customers that come to the cinema have the opportunity to see. The proper record of the ticket sold will be kept properly for reference purpose. 3.3 ANALYSIS OF FINDINGS Under-listed below are the analysis from the existing traditional system of ticket booking at Ventura cinemas sango road Ibadan. 3.4 PROBLEMS OF THE EXISTING SYSTEM
During the analysis of the existing system of Ventura cinema ticket booking system, in the course of our Project Research, we observed some problems that were inherent in the existing system and they are listed below as follows: User need to go to the cinema before they can book movie tickets. The movie advert that was provided on the dashboard in the cinema house cannot be seen by customers that do not come to the cinema. Customers at times queue for booking ticket when there is an exciting move on the schedule which will be stressful on the part of the customers and the cinema staffs. The system is not cost effective. It requires a lot of staffs to implement the system. 3.5 SUGGESTED SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM IDENTIFIED Because of the problems inherent in the existing system of Ventura cinema’s ticket booking system, the need for web based cinema ticket booking becomes imperative. It will help in the following ways: Movie can be schedule online easily and customers can easily check the schedules before coming to the cinemas. There will be reduction in the numbers of needed staffs, which in turn will lower the cost of booking service, since information will be stored in a database with reduced data Redundancy. There will be no need for the staffs to calculate the ticket sold compared with the available seat since all this will be calculated online without exceeding the seat limit. Records of the ticket sold can be easily retrieved. Customers can book ticket twenty four hour a day and seven days a week without any restriction since it will be done online which is available every time.
