ii) Colour : White crystalline solid .
iii) Solubility : Soluble in water .
❖ DRY TEST :
Experiment Observation Inference
01. Dry heating test Write your observation ............
02. Flame test Write you observation ............

❖ TEST FOR ACIDIC RADICALS :

Experiment Observation Inference
1. Salt + dil. H2SO4 No gas evolved CO32-, S2- , NO2- , SO32- may be
absent.
2. Salt + conc. H2SO4 Colourless, pungent smelling gas
giving dense white fumes when a Cl- may be present .
rod dipped in NH4OH is brought
near the mouth of the test tube
3. Salt solution + conc. HNO3 + A white precipitate is formed
AgNO3 solution which is soluble in ammonium Cl- confirmed
hydroxide solution .

❖ TEST FOR BASIC RADICALS :

Experiment Observation Inference

1. Salt solution + dil. HCl No ppt. formed Group - I absent
2. Salt solution + dil. HCl + H2S No ppt. formed Group - II absent
gas
3. To the salt solution added a
pinch of solid NH4Cl. Boiled the No ppt. formed Group - III absent
solution, cooled it and added
excess of NH4OH solution .
4. Through a part of this solution, No ppt. formed Group IV absent
passed H2S gas .
5. salt solution + NH4Cl + NH4OH White ppt. formed Group V present
+ (NH4)2CO3 ( Ca2+ , Ba2+ , Sr2+ may be present )
❖ CONFIMATORY TEST FOR BASIC RADICALS :
Write only confirmatory test for the particular basic radical present .

❖ RESULT :
1. Acid radicals :
2. Basic radical :
