DR.FIXIT RAINCOAT
Acrylic Elastomeric Exterior Waterproof
Coating

For
External walls
Dr. Fixit Raincoat – Elastomeric Acrylic Coating for external
walls Foreword:

In modern construction, external walls are built with masonry, often to fill up the
spaces in the RCC frame. This kind of construction lends itself to seepage of rain
lash into interior portions of building. Cracks are developed in plaster due to
shrinkage nature of cement. The rain lashing causes seepage problem through
the fine cracks, cold joints an honeycombs in concrete.
The seepage causes several problems such as peeling off paint, continuous
dampness that leads to growth of algae, fungi, mold etc. This poses serious health
problems to the occupants. The intrusion of water into structure leads to
corrosion of steel reinforcement bars that causes structural damages.
Due to all these reasons it is necessary that an exterior coating must be robust
and thick enough to face the brunt of heavy rain lash. It must be durable with
elastic properties to seal and bridge the minor cracks, have anti algae and fungal
properties and be colour fast with good aesthetic appeal for decorative purpose.
By taking into consideration all these needs Dr. Fixit has now extended it's range
of products by introducing Dr. Fixit Raincoat in its repertoire.

Introduction of Dr. Fixit Raincoat

Dr. Fixit Raincoat is an exterior acrylic elastomeric coating that offers

waterproofing and aesthetics in a single pack. It prevents seepage and dampness
from the exteriors of the building that spoil the expensive interiors. It has an
ability to bridge and seal the minor cracks. It needs no dilution and hence delivers
the consistent desired film thickness constantly. It is supplied with special
penetrative and efflorescence resistant primer. Raincoat has thickness of 110-120
microns, about twice that of exterior paints. It is available in colours of choice
that can be obtained from three bases -white, mid tone and dark – that are
tintable to produce any desired shade. It has an excellent sheen and smoothness
unparalleled to any paint.
Areas of Application

 All types of exterior masonry surfaces, concrete, cement sand renderings,

etc.
 Applicable on asbestos sheets.
 As an anti carbonation coating for concrete structures

Features & Benefits

 Waterproofing - Higher film thickness provides crack bridging ability,

waterproofing properties & resistance to cracking.
 Flexibility - Flexible and covers hairline cracks(up to 0.5 mm) effectively,
thus prevents ingress of water.
 Toughness - Tough film withstands wind driven rain.
 Elastomeric - High elasticity easily withstands stress caused by thermal
expansion & contraction
 Ready to use – No dilution is required
 Microbial resistance – Resistance to fungus and algae hence maintains the
aesthetic value.
 UV resistant – Resistance to UV hence coating has longer life.
 Low dirt pick up – Very low dirt pick up & can be cleaned easily hence
maintains the aesthetics.
 Breathability - Permeable to water vapour.
 Ease of application – User friendly, easily applicable by brush, roller or
spray.
 Non toxic - It is Eco friendly.
Method of Application DR.FIXIT RAINCOAT –
SURFACE PREPARATION
 All new cement-sand renderings /concrete surfaces should be allowed to
age 6 to 8 weeks before surface coating.
 Surface for treatment must be thoroughly cleaned of all laitance, loose
material, oil, grease, etc. by mechanical means such as wire brushing .
 Finally vacuum cleaning of all loose solids and liquids can be done, if
required.
 All surface cracks should be filled up with Dr. Fixit Crack-X paste upto 0-
5mm width & Dr. Fixit Crack X shrinkfree upto 0-10mm width on the walls.
Cracks more than 10 mm and all separation gaps should be filled up with
Dr. Fixit Pidicrete URP modified mortar or as specified.

PRIMING
 Prime the surface with Dr. Fixit Primeseal (Efflorescence resistant
penetrating primer ) diluted with potable water by volume in 2:1 ratio (2
parts primer and 1 part water) and allow it to dry for 2 to 3 hours
Coverage - 10-12 m2 / ltr / coat

APPLICATION
 Use Dr. Fixit Raincoat directly from the container. Stir contents well before
use.
 Apply two neat coats of Dr. Fixit Raincoat without dilution by brush or roller
at a time interval of 5-6 hours.
 For enhanced protection, apply additional coat of Dr. Fixit Raincoat on rain
lashing walls, chajjas and parapet walls.
 Allow the coated surface to air cure fully for 7 days.
Coverage
 3.0 to 3.5 m2 per litre for 2 coats

Precautions & Limitations

 Do not dilute Dr. Fixit Raincoat.
 Recommended to be primed with Dr. Fixit Primeseal only.
 Do not apply when ambient temperature is below 10®C or above 45®C.
