Fundamentals of Refrigeration

A Self-Directed Learning Course

What You Will Learn
You will develop an understanding of the processes of refrigeration and how refr
igeration systems operate, as well as the types of refrigeration systems. After
completing the course, you should know:
The components and types of refrigeration systems;
How thermodynamics is applied to refrigeration;
Single and two-stage refrigeration cycles;
Heat transfer and its application to evaporators and condensers;
Gas compression and types of compressors;
Refrigerant flow in pipes, valves and pumps;
The operation and application of expansion valves;
Pressure vessels and refrigerant management;
Selection of refrigerants;
Refrigeration system control;
Product cooling and freezing loads; and
Liquid cooling and space cooling loads.
