Richard Nixon was a good President.

Of all the contemporary American Presidents, he is

among one of the most controversial, despised, and possibly the most misunderstood. Nixon
campaigned in 1968 with an eye to broaching the political divide in the United States and
embracing new ideas to garner the support to be elected. This continued into Nixon’s Presidency
with his mixed policies on the War in Vietnam, essentially harvesting ideas from all political
walks of life on the subject. Richard Nixon as a dealmaker is most compelling, because it
represents both the powerful, and pragmatic side of his administration. Finally, the creation of
the E.P.A is an almost absurd example of Richard Nixon operating on a pluralistic basis by
endorsing a policy despite its clearly different political associations. Thus, Richard Nixon was a
good President.
