Bruce Slorach spent
his childhood exploring
the wild places of
Western Victoria where
he developed a love for
Australia’s exotic flora and
fauna. After graduating
from the Victorian
College of the Arts with
a Bachelor in Fine Art,
Slorach has enjoyed an
extensive and rewarding
thirty-year career
spanning the arts, design,
graphics and textile
design, including running
the celebrated textile
and home furnishing
brand, Utopia Goods
with business partner
Sophie Tatlow. Bruce
Slorach’s illustrations
and textiles have been
exhibited nationally and
internationally including
in a group show at the
Victoria & Albert Museum
(London) and are held in
the permanent collection
of the Powerhouse
Museum (MAAS, Sydney)
and the National Gallery of

Portrait Prize is an
annual event intended
to promote the very
best in contemporary
photographic portraiture
by both professional
and aspiring Australian
photographers.
Photography is the
dominant portrait medium
of our time. The National
Photographic Portrait Prize
is an important aspect of
the Gallery’s exhibition
program, reflecting
the distinctive vision of
Australia’s aspiring and
professional portrait
photographers and the
unique nature of their
subjects.
The National Portrait
Gallery offered a prize
of $30,000 for the most
outstanding photographic
portrait and this exhibition
is a selection from entries.
This exhibition tour is
supported by the National
Collecting Institutions
Touring and Outreach
Program, an Australian
Government program
aiming to improve access
to the national collections
for all Australians.

Established in 1961, Hamilton Gallery’s renowned
collection features a decorative arts focus (well
over half of its collection) of both Australian
and International objects from the 17th century
through to the present.
Asian art and Australian paintings and prints are
strongly represented but the Gallery is perhaps
most well known for its rare collection of gouache
and watercolour pictures by Paul Sandby (1731-
1809) depicting the English landscape.
The significance of the decorative arts collection
and 18th century watercolours makes Hamilton
Gallery a leading public art collection, Australia
wide.
Guided tours of the permanent collection
and temporary exhibitions are available via
appointment.

HAMILTON PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE

Hamilton Performing Arts Centre is an ideal
venue for performing arts, conferences, seminars,
functions, meetings, expos and weddings in the
Greater Hamilton region.
It is easy to see why - the venue is located in
the centre of town with ample free parking
nearby. Our fully equipped auditorium has tiered
seating for 500 patrons and also has audio visual
equipment with a large drop down screen and
professional surround sound.
The Function Room is an elegant timber floored
area suitable for expos, dinners, weddings and
conference events and is suitable for up to 250
people. The room is serviced by a well equipped
commercial kitchen and there is an easy to operate
audio visual system with large drop down screen
and surround sound. It also is a great area to use
as a display space, breakout area and for meals in
conjunction with the auditorium.
For smaller meetings and training seminars, the Ted
Kenna VC Room is the best choice. It accommodates
about 35 people in boardroom style or up to 100 for
short lecture style meetings.
We can arrange catering to suit your
needs for all events, whether large or small.
