MATERIALS TESTING REQUIREMENTS

(List is not all-inclusive, illustrative of types of testing needs)

Qualifications

The Construction Inspector (Materials) provided by the consultant to fill Materials Tester
positions shall have a minimum of three (3) years of experience performing the work being
requested by WSDOT. In addition to this experience, the individuals proposed by the
consultant must be Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (WAQTC) and
American Concrete Institute (ACI) qualified to perform the following tests. Also all materials
testing will be in accordance with the WSDOT Construction Manual (M44-01).

The consultant shall also provide documentation that the individuals proposed for this work
are capable of operating the following equipment:

• Brovold Gyratory Compactor

• Barnstead Thermoline Ignition Furnace
• A manual or mechanical Sand Equivalency Shaker
• Troxler 3430 and/or 3450 Nuclear Moisture/Density Gauge – The individual
operating this gauge must possess a valid thermo luminescent dosimeter (nuke
badge). Monitoring of radiation of the consultant’s nuke badge is the responsibility of
the consultant.
