THE EFFECT OF HEALTH EDUCATION TOWARD KNOWLEDGE

AND MOTIVATION OF THIRD TRIMESTER PREGNANT


WOMAN ABOUT EXCLUSIVE BREAST FEEDING
AT THE PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER

ABSTRACT

The exclusive breast feeding is less than optimal because of babies suffer
from malnutrition and malnutrition. Exclusive breastfeeding coverage in
Indonesia is still below the targeted figure (80%) While the coverage of exclusive
breastfeeding at the public health center Olak Kemang is (39,62%). The research
aimed at determining the effect of health education toward knowledge and
motivation about exclusive breast feeding.
This is a quantitative research, it was conducted at the public health center
Olak Kemang Jambi city on July 22nd – July 25th 2017. It used pre experiment
One Group pretest-posttest design by using Purposive Sampling technique, with
the number 20 respondents. Data collection instrument was taken through
questionnaires, and was analyzed as univariate and bivariate by using T-test
dependent.
The findings indicated that among 20 respondents, there was significant
effect between health education about breast feeding toward knowledge of third
semester pregnant woman at the public health center Olak Kemang Jambi city
2017 with p-value=0.000<0.05 and there is the significant effect between health
education about breast feeding toward motivation of third trimester pregnant
woman at the public health center Olak Kemang Jambi city year 2017 with p-
value 0.000<0.05.
Provision of health education about exclusive breast feeding to third
trimester pregnant woman Needs to be conducted continuously in the class of
pregnant women and when pregnant women to visit antenatal care Through
information media such as leaflets and posters at the public health center.
