Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

1. Characters
 Amy Dunne (a rich blond girl, her personality is relaxed, laid-back, easy-going,
clever and sometimes manipulative).
 Nick Dunne (Amy’s husband, he is a charming and charismatic man with pretty
dark hair).
 Margo Dunne (she is Nick’s twin sister. Her personality is strong-willed and tough).
 Detective Rhonda Boney (she is assigned the Amy Dunne case)

4. Point of View
First person. Nick is the tale’s primary storyteller. But not only through Nick’s narration
of his experience, but we get Amy’s side of the story as well.

6. Plot
 Exposition
Amy and Nick spent seven years together.
 Conflict
Nick comes home, and finds that his wife is missing.
 Rising Action
Police find that a lot of blood was mopped up in the kitchen and they begin to think
that Nick is guilty. They find Amy’s journal in which she talks about their life
together. She talks about when he hit her and how she is scared of him. Next, they
find that Nick has a mistress named Andie. She is one of Nick’s student in college.
All of this together leads everyone to blame him.
 Climax
Nick is led to the shed in Margo’s yard. He opens it and finds all of the items that
were on their credit card bill. He never bought any of it. Reading Amy’s final note,
Nick realizes that she has been framing him.
 Falling Action
Amy comes home, she tells the story of how she was kidnapped by Desi, her stalker,
and was rapped and damaged. She killed him to escape. Everyone believed her.
 Resolution
Nick and Amy end up living together.
