1 SCOPE
The intent of this specification is to define the minimum requirements for explosion
proof control stations / push button stations to be located near the motors on the
offshore platforms.
2.1 The following codes and standards shall form a part of this specification:
2.2 Any other recognized international code or standard may be used in lieu of
above with prior approval of the Company.
3 SITE CONDITIONS
All materials shall be selected and finished to resist/withstand the site conditions
specified in General Design Criteria enclosed in the Bid Package.
4 SCOPE OF SUPPLY
4.1 Explosion proof control stations / push button stations of various types.
4.2 Cable lugs & explosion proof double compression type nickel chromium
plated brass cable glands.
5 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
5.1 The control stations / push button stations shall be explosion proof and
weather-proof suitable for operation in class-1, Division-2, Group-D or Zone
1, Group II A/II B, and temperature Class T-3 (2000C). Their enclosures
shall be explosion-proof to NEMA-7 and weather-proof to NEMA- 4 (IP-56)
or equivalent.
5.2 They shall be made up of cast metal aluminum alloy / high impact strength
glass polyester material housing complete with requisite terminals and
explosion-proof cable termination accessories suitable for FRLS PVC cable.
If aluminum is used, the same shall be copper-free. The glass polyester
material, if used, shall not get damaged due to ultra-violet rays over its life
span. Protective coating shall be given as per "General Specification for
Protective Coating" (Spec. No.2005).
5.3 Contact for push buttons shall be rated for 6 Amps. at 240VAC., AC-11
duty and 4.0 Amps at 11OV D.C., DC-11 duty.
5.4 Wherever start-stop push buttons are used, the start push button shall be
momentary close type while the ‘Stop’ push button shall be stay put type
and lockable in pressed condition. The colours of the push buttons shall be
as follows :
5.5 Auto - Manual / local - Remote Selector switches shall be knob type having
stay-put type contacts of rating same as that of push buttons. Auto - Manual /
Local - Remote switch and start - stop pushbuttons, wherever required, shall
be housed in a common enclosure.
5.6 The control stations shall have four lugs for mounting on the pre-fabricated
available supports. The lugs shall be off-set so that the rear surface of the
unit stays at least 5 mm away from the surfaces. On lugs, two holes shall be
round and two oblong to facilitate correct positioning of the control station.
5.7 Desired number of terminals plus10% spare shall be provided for connection
of external cable leads of copper conductor. Necessary cable termination
accessories shall be supplied with each control station. The cable entry shall
be from the bottom. These entries shall be properly plugged to protect the
equipment during transit.
5.11 Ammeters shall invariably be incorporated in the control station for motors
irrespective of their KW ratings and sizes. Ammeter scale shall be suitable to
read both rated current and starting current.
5.12 A red mark shall be provided at the full load current of the motor, the values
of which will be furnished along with the Purchase Specification to the
successful vendor.
5.13 The control stations shall be tested and certified as defined in Electrical
Design Criteria enclosed in the Bid Package. Each equipment shall have
certification mark on its nameplate.
5.14 All control stations shall be provided with canopy of suitable material and
proper size for protections against rain, fog etc.
5.15 All hardware such as nuts, bolts, washers etc. shall be cadmium plated.
6.1 Testing and inspection of Control Station / Push Button station shall include,
but not necessarily be limited to the following:
6.1.1 A quantitative check shall be made to ensure that all items in specified
quantity are present according to the order and the packing list.
6.2 Company reserves the right to witness the final testing and inspection.
Advance intimation of at least 20 days shall be given to enable the Company
to depute its representative to witness the test.
7 SPARES
7.1 Vendor shall recommend and provide spare parts needed for start-up. In
addition, vendor shall also furnish a separate price list of recommended
spares for two (2) years of normal operation and maintenance.
7.2 Recommended spares shall take into account related factors for system
reliability, effect of downtime upon production, safety, cost of parts and
availability of equipment service facilities.
7.3 All spares furnished by vendor shall be wrapped and packaged so that they
could be preserved in original as new condition under the normal conditions
of storage prevailing in India and shall be properly tagged and coded to
facilitate future identification. They shall be packaged separately, clearly
marked as "Spare Parts", and shipped along with the control / push button
station. Packing lists shall be furnished so that the parts can be handled
without uncrating, if required.
8 WARRANTY
Vendor shall have final and total responsibility for the design and performance of
all the Control Stations / Push Button Stations supplied under this specification.
Vendor shall warrant them for their performance in accordance with this
specification and "General Specification- Definition". (Spec No. 1050)
Vendor shall furnish data in accordance with General Specification "Vendor Data
Requirement". (Spec No.1060).
10 CONFLICT
In the event of conflict between this specification & other documents listed
herein, the following order of priority shall govern:
11 CERTIFICATION
All Control Stations / Push Button Stations offered or those of similar design and
construction features manufactured by the same vendor:
The control station / push button stations along with their accessories shall be
shipped to site packed in wooden crates. They shall be wrapped with polythene
sheets, before being placed in the crates to prevent damage to finish. Crates shall
have skid bottom for handling.
