In the perspective of Bangladesh,Effects of the climate change, ways to face it.

Climate is the average weather in a place over many years. It’s measured by

assessing the pattern of variation in temperature, humidity, winds etc.Weather
changes in just a few hours or in a day but, climate takes to change a
decade, hundred or thousand or even millions of year of a region.
Bangladesh is located in sub-tropical monsoon region and it’s climate is
consisted of high temperature, heavy rainfall, even often excessive
humidity.Generally three seasons are found:a hot, humid summer from March
to June,having the maximum temperature from 32°C to 38°C; a cool,rainy
season from June to October;a cool, dry winter from October to March, having
the maximum average temperature is 10°C.
Climate change in Bangladesh is a burning question at present.Bangladesh is
one of the most vulnerable nations to the impact of climate change, according
to the National Geography.Bangladesh is addressed in the tropic of cancer and
receives the fairly direct radiation over the year and having the relatively high
temperature.Bangladesh is situated in the GBM river line, comprising with
Ganges,Brahmaputra and Meghna, watered by total 57 trans boundary river
flowing to it:54 from neighbouring country India and 3 from Mayanmar, has no
control of water flows and volume, drains to the Bay of Bengal.High spread
poverty,dense population,limited adaptive capacity,ineffective local
governance have made the region one of the worst affected regions in the
world. It’s the estimation that, here will be 1,000 people in each square
kilometer but, with increasing population by 2million people each
year. So,according to the German watch,Purchasing Power Parity is $1.25 per
person in a day. These increasing population lacks the resources to tackle to the
natural disasters as the government is failing to help them.According to the
German Watch’s Climate risk index,in 2007;Bangladesh is the 6th hardest hit
country by the calamities among 180 nations during the period from 1996 to
1
2015.It is projected that,by 2020,people almost 500 million to 750 million will
be affected by water stress caused by climate change around the world. As
Bangladesh is a low lying coastal region,it will definitely face the natural
disasters like the cyclones of 2007 to 2009 and the southern part of the
country can be submerged by the increasing sea level’s water dangerously due
to the melting of polar ice of Himalaya. In Bangladesh, yields from agricultural
crops, which are dependent on rainfed has been declined to 70% and has been
calculated that,it’ll be reduced to 50% by the year 2020 for the climatic
change. For a densly populated country like Bangladesh, this will bring the
negative effect on food security and in another environmental issue with
increasing population and the hunger.
Negative effects of climate change is so crucial that, every country wants to
control the effects fully. But,controlling the effects of climate change fully is not
possibleSo,some steps can be taken in oreder to control it.Following
this,Bangladesh needs to take long term adaption for rescuing from these
crisis. That’s why Bangladesh has already invested 10 million taka equal to
$1,50,000 to build cylone shelters and to create early storm warning
system.Bangladesh has also invested $50 million to the country’s agriculture
and health budget for reducing the drastic climatic change.Bangladesh needs
also to control the increasing population to prevent the food crisis and
deforestation in order to manage the dwelling places for the
people.Bangladesh needs also to increase the tree plantation and taking care of
the existing forests so that, they may protect us from drastic storms or
cyclones. As for example, world’s largest mangrove forest Sundarban protected
us mostly from being destroyed when it is the time of cyclones or
disasters. Moreover and finally,Bangladesh government must have to take
proper rules and regulations to control the damages from climatic
change.Otherwise by 2040,Bangladesh will be totally inappropriate for the
inhabitants.
