Eaten alive!

A monster that keeps your ears warm.

Need to Have:
5mm straight needles
5mm Double Point Needles
100g Gray Double Knitting Wool
Less than 50gs of Red Double Knitting Wool
Less than 50gs of Cream Double Knitting Wool
Small amount of Black Double Knitting Wool
Tapestry Needle

Need to Know:
st – stitch
dpn – double point needle
rnd – round
k – knit
p – purl
sl – slip stitch
p2tog – purl 2 sts together
k2 tog – knit 2 sts together
yf – yarn forward
yb- yarn back
Need to Do:
(Note: I prefer to work rib on straight needles. If this doesn't suit you, you can cast on to the dpn,
30sts on each needle, and work the rib in the round)

Using 5mm straight needles cast on 90 sts

1st row * K3, P2, rep from * to end


2nd row * K2, P3, rep from * to end

Rep these to rows 34 more times

Change to DPN
Knit 30sts on to first DPN
Knit next 30sts on to second DPN
Knit final 30sts on to third DPN

Join and work in rnds from here

Knit 10 rnds

from here you'll be working back and forth across two needles
Next row – slip 1st st, knit across two needles TURN

slip 1st st purl across 2 needles TURN

Continue in stocking stitch, slipping first st, back and forth across these two needles for 16 more
rows

at this point you'll be adding 30sts and working in the round again
Next rnd – sl 1st st, knit across two needles, cast on 30sts. Slip these on to 3rd DPN join

Rnd 12 – this next round looks daunting, but relax and you'll end up with a pair of monster eyes

Rnd 17 - * k5, k2tog, rep from * to end
Rnd 18 - knit
Rnd 19 - * k4, k2tog, rep from * to end
Rnd 20 - knit
Rnd 21 - *k3, k2tog, rep from * to end
Rnd 22 – knit
Rnd 23 - * k2, k2tog, rep from * to end
Rnd 24 - * k1, k2tog, rep from * to end
Rnd 25 - * k2tog, rep from * to end
Rnd 26 - * k2tog, k1, rep from * to end
Last rnd – k2tog three times. Break off wool and stitch through last 3sts, weave in end.
Mouth

with right side facing, using red pick up one st from the side of mouth opening, at right hand side of
DPN.
Knit across DPN
pick up two sts at left hand side turn
purl, pick up 2sts turn
knit, pick up 2sts turn
purl, pick up one st turn

knit
p2tog twice, p to last 4 sts, p2tog twice

this next row is worked as you would a picot hem


k2tog, work next 30sts as you would for a picot hem pick up, picking up purl bumps from first line
of red, k2tog

Break off red, leave sts on DPN, we'll be coming back to add the teeth later.

Right side facing on left side of bottom lip start to pick up sts using red.
Start in the same st as last pick up on bottom lip row.

Pick up 7sts
On second DPN pick up 30sts along top lip
On 3rd DPN pick up 7sts down last side, ending in same st as last bottom lip pick up.

Turn

purl across 3 needles turn


cast off 7sts
purl across 2nd needle turn
knit 30sts turn
purl turn
knit turn
purl turn
work next 30sts as you would for a picot hem pick up, picking up purl bumps from first line of red,
cast off 7sts down side of mouth.

You've now got two sets of live stitches. These are where we're going to add the teeth.

Bottom Row of Teeth

with right side facing, using cream,

Tooth row 1 - knit 6sts turn


tooth row 2 – purl 6sts turn
tooth row 3 – knit 5sts turn
tooth row 4 – purl 5sts turn
tooth row 5 – knit 4sts turn
tooth row 6 – purl 4sts turn
tooth row 7 – knit 3sts turn
tooth row 8 – purl 3sts turn
tooth row 9 – knit 2sts turn
tooth row 10 - purl 2sts turn
tooth row 11 – cast of 6sts, this will mean knitting 1 stitch on the lip. This counts as one of the sts
for the next tooth

Repeat these eleven rows for each tooth on the bottom lip. After last tooth break wool and thread
through last st, weave in loose end.

Finishing Off.
Sew in all loose ends. Sew edges of rib together. Add eyes and you're ready to be Eaten Alive!
