Skateboarding is an activity many people enjoy.

If you skateboard in Salem,


follow these rules of the road and tips for your safety and the safety of others.

Skateboarding locations
There are many areas to skateboard in the City. You may skateboard on:

 Streets with a speed limit of 25 miles per hour or less.


 Streets with marked bike lanes as long as you skateboard in the bike lane.
 Sidewalks, shared-use paths, pedestrian bridges, and in crosswalks unless
otherwise prohibited.
 Paths within City parks, unless specifically prohibited by park rules.

You are not allowed to skateboard on:

 Public grounds, such as the Civic Center, public parking structures, and
Center 50+.
 Sidewalks within the downtown area.
 Streets with a speed limit greater than 25 miles per hour and without
marked bike lanes.
 Private property without the permission of the property owner.
 Any public or private property with signs that prohibit skateboard use.
