This week we are going to talk about baptism. Our first
text is Mark 16:16 (NT 50).
POINTS TO EMPHASIZE:
1. If we believe, then it is necessary to be baptized,
because the two are connected with salvation. 2. If we believe not and are not baptizes, we shall be lost.
MODULATION TO NEXT TEXT:
What importance did JESUS place on baptism? Let us
look at Mark 1:9-11 (NT 32). POINT TO EMPHASIZE:
1. Mark describes the baptism of JESUS.
a. John baptized HIM in the Jordan River. b. JESUS’ Father gave HIS blessing and approval.
MODULATION TO NEXT TEXT:
1 Peter 2:21 (NT 203) tells us why CHRIST was
baptized. POINT TO EMPHASIZE:
1. CHRIST lived HIS life on this earth as an example,
that we should follow in HIS steps.
MODULATION TO NEXT TEXT:
Before a person is baptized, what is necessary? Matthew
28:19, 20 (NT 31) tells us. POINTS TO EMPHASIZE:
1. Before a person is baptized, he should be taught
to observe al things – the principles of GOD’s Word. This excludes infant baptism. 2. The baptismal formula shows that he person is to be baptized in the name of the FATHER, SON, and HOLY GHOST.
MODULATION TO NEXT TEXT:
What mode, or type, of baptism did the early church
practice? Acts 8:36-39 (NT 113). POINTS TO EMPHASIZE:
1. It is necessary to believe before being baptized.
2. Philip and the eunuch went down into the water. 3. The eunuch was baptized, and both came up out of the water. 4. This was not a sprinkling but a complete immersion.
MODULATION TO NEXT TEXT:
What does baptism mean? What does it symbolize?
Look at Romans 6:3, 4 (NT 139). POINTS TO EMPHASIZE:
1. We are buried with CHRIST in baptism.
2. When we rise, we rise to walk in newness of life.

What if a person has already been baptized? Then what?
Let us look at Acts 19:1-5 (NT 124). POINTS TO EMPHASIZE:
1. Here is an illustration of rebaptism.
2. A person should be rebaptized when a “significantly new truth” is discovered or followed. a. This is either a completely new truth, or b. A revival of truth once held but not followed.
MODULATION TO NEXT TEXT:
What will those saved be willing to do? Our last text is
Revelation 22:14 (NT 226). POINT TO EMPHASIZE:
1. Those who are saved follow CHRIST’s commands
– all of them.
APPEAL:
CHRIST’s appeal to be baptized is just as important as HIS
other commands. The only question is, Will we heed it?
PRAYER:
1. Pray that we may see the importance of following
CHRIST all the way. 2. Pray that GOD will bless this family as they make their decision for CHRIST and HIS truth. 3. Remember the family’s needs.
