A MESSAGE FOR OUR CHILDREN

FIRST READING: Isaiah 43:1-7

Near the end of Israel’s exile in Babylon, God promises to bring them
home. They need no longer be afraid, because the one who formed, created,
and called them by name now redeems them from all their enemies. God
declares them precious and honored, and God loves them.
1
But now thus says the LORD,
he who created you, O Jacob,
1
he who formed you, O Israel: Ascribe to the | LORD, you gods,
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; ascribe to the LORD glo- | ry and strength.
I have called you by name, you are mine. 2
Ascribe to the LORD the glory | due God’s name;
2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; worship the LORD in the beau- | ty of holiness.
3
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; the God of | glory thunders;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, the LORD is upon the | mighty waters.
4
and the flame shall not consume you. The voice of the LORD is a pow- | erful voice;
3
For I am the LORD your God, the voice of the LORD is a | voice of splendor. R
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
5
I give Egypt as your ransom, The voice of the LORD breaks the | cedar trees;
Ethiopia and Seba in exchange for you. the LORD breaks the ce- | dars of Lebanon;
4 6
Because you are precious in my sight, the LORD makes Lebanon skip | like a calf,
and honored, and I love you, and Mount Hermon like a | young wild ox.

5 8
Do not fear, for I am with you; The voice of the LORD| shakes the wilderness;
I will bring your offspring from the east, the LORD shakes the wilder- | ness of Kadesh. R
and from the west I will gather you;
6
I will say to the north, “Give them up,” 9
The voice of the LORD makes the oak trees writhe and strips the | forests
and to the south, “Do not withhold; bare. And in the temple of the LORD all are | crying, “Glory!”
10

INVITATION TO COMMUNION

Christ gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to
make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
(Titus 2:14) Come, behold and receive the Word made flesh.

Lutherans believe, teach and confess that we receive the true Body and
Blood of Christ in Holy Communion. If you desire to pick up the cross and
live in Christ, we hope you will receive with us. Even if you do not feel
prepared to receive the sacrament today we hope you will join us at the
table. Simply hold your hands over your heart and the pastor will give you
a blessing. Pastor will be glad to discuss Holy Communion and Holy
Baptism with you!
LAMB OF GOD

we have feasted on your grace. May your Word take flesh in us, that we
