4.0 Literature Review
❖ Temperature variations in a hot car
• Cars become mini earth that traps heat within the car interiors
like greenhouse effect (Jan, 2012).
• Could reach a staggering 70ºC difference between temperature
of outer ambient air and car interior (Dadour, et al., 2010)

❖ Potential harm of a hot car

• 18 children died trapped in a hot car in 2018 (NoHeatStroke.org,
2018)
• Alkylbenzenes and alkane like dodecane were found in air
extracted from car exposed under sun for an hour (Jeroen, et al.,
2007)
• Cars should be properly ventilated to remove volatile compounds
like chlorine, lead, formaldehydes (Ecology Center, 2012)

Business permissible temperature is about 3100 RPM.

Consideration The prototype car interior is downsized to be 0.512 m3 and

is about 5.5 times smaller than the actual car interior
volume.

The actual cost to develop to develop the prototype

requires about RM498.20 but we manage to reduce the cost
by retrieving reusable items.

To consider the total cost to build the system in a real car, its
difference in price from the prototype would not be big. The
only expensive part is to manufacture a separate tunnel for
hot air to be sucked out.

11.0 Conclusion
The Air Ventilation System (AVS) saves
Based on all the findings our group has time for car users because they do not
done, we found that most people feel have to wait for the interior of car
uncomfortable to use their car after it temperature to decrease after car had
had been exposed to hot sunlight. been parked for a long period of time
under sunlight.

Due to the hot sunlight, the temperature

in car interior increases and this leads to The AVS also can save life when a child
release of harmful gas. (275 harmful has been forgotten in a car, accidentally
gases) locks themselves in a car or trunk.
