Dear Parents,

Hello, my name is Ms. Corpuz and I am very excited to be student teaching in your
child’s sixth-grade class with Mr. Ramos and Ms. Tibayan! This is my last semester of study at the
University of Hawaii – West Oahu, and working with Mr. Ramos and Ms. Tibayan is one of the last
steps I will take towards becoming an elementary teacher. I will be graduating in May with a
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Your child will be a huge part in my success, and I
am so thrilled to have the wonderful opportunity to work with them.
I thought you might like to know a little bit about me. I was born and raised in Aiea,
Hawaii. I graduated from Aiea High School in 2013. My personal interests include traveling,
shopping, spending time with family, and being outdoors. Some of my hobbies that I enjoy are
baking and crafting. Throughout my time at UH West Oahu, I have had a wide variety of
experiences that have helped me to prepare for my final semester. I have worked with
kindergarten, second, and fifth grade students in different schools, along with experiences at an
after-school tutoring program and several service learning opportunities. In addition to these
placements, I have also volunteered for day camps for school aged children over the summer
and winter, and teach Sunday school for children 3–4 year olds.
This semester will be different from my role last semester, as I will be completing my
student teaching semester. This means that I will be in the classroom daily, Monday through
Friday, from 7:30 am - 2:30 pm, from January to the ending of April. While I am in the classroom, I
will be teaching lessons, working with students individually and in small groups, and learning all
that I can from Mr. Ramos, Ms. Tibayan and your child. I understand that the students use
instructional resources like IXL for math and language arts. My goal this semester is to also
provide students with more challenging, yet achievable activities and lessons that will
encourage an active and more hands-on approach to build their fact fluency and language
arts skills. Students are also encouraged to practice their math fluency of facts and ELA skills at
home daily.
I am very excited to be here at Lehua Elementary School. It has been such a joy getting
to know your child. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns.
I am looking forward to meeting you and working with your child this school year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Corpuz
