NEN Education Associate

What is NEN?
Founded in 2002 by the Wadhwani Foundation, the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) is
a not-for-profit initiative with the goal of helping launch thousands of new entrepreneurs, who in
turn will create hundreds of thousands of much-needed valuable jobs for India. NEN does this by
working to inspire, educate and support new and future entrepreneurs in India. NEN’s ultimate
goal is

NEN works with India’s top academic institutions to help them build capacity to run world-class
and high impact entrepreneurship programs on their campuses. These campus-based
entrepreneurship programs are both innovative and comprehensive helping create a pipeline of
future entrepreneurs with the relevant knowledge, skills and networks to start companies in the
near future. Additionally, NEN selectively works with institutes to help create sustainable
programs to directly launch startups and help them grow.

Additionally, NEN also works to bring together diverse government, corporate, institutional
resources for startups and growth entrepreneurs and help increase their access to these
resources.

NEN Founders
NEN has been catalyzed and funded by the Wadhwani Foundation, a foundation funded and
chaired by Romesh Wadhwani, a successful serial IT entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley who is
now building Symphony Technology Group (his fourth company). Romesh is a graduate of IIT-
Bombay and received his PhD from Carnegie Mellon.

The co-founding academic institutions of NEN include: IIT-Bombay, IIM-Ahmedabad, BITS Pilani,
S P Jain Management Institute, IBAB Bangalore and Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

Current Status
NEN seeks a full-time Development Associate to support fund raising at the organization

Context
NEN has emerged as a leader in entrepreneurship education in India. It has critical mass in its
institutional base and is realizing impact from building capacity in entrepreneurship education
effectively to educate potential future entrepreneurs and to help support new entrepreneurs.

NEN Education works to build capacity of the NEN Partner Institutes through training of faculty
mentors and student E Leaders who run entrepreneurship clubs on campuses.

NEN Education team works with faculty members from some of the top institutes around the
world including Stanford, Babson, London Business School, University of California, IIM A,
SPJMR, IIM B and others to help NEN Faculty mentors access the best practices and thinking in
entrepreneurship. This includes development and delivery of a range of world class faculty
development programs to help faculty both develop future entrepreneurs and support new
entrepreneurs.

The Associate – Education will be responsible for managing the operations of
the various faculty and student leader workshops and events including the
invitations, managing production of materials, logistics of organizing, feedback,
analysis and reporting

Specific responsibilities include the following:

- Database management of the member institutes and workshop participants


- Close tracking of batch wise participation
- Analyzing various data and generating reports on a regular basis
Role - Managing the invitation process for all workshops and events: email and hard
copy invites
- Production of Course material and arranging materials according to different
workshops
- Coordinating with various vendors for material production
- Handling the logistics of workshops efficiently and ensuring smooth delivery of
the workshop
- Creating summarized feedback reports of all workshops
- Interacting with different stakeholders involved in the workshops – like faculty,
student, heads of top tier institutes and others

- Excellent Technical skills: MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word) and E-


mail software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Extraverted and high-energy
- Detail-oriented, and able to multi-task
