EVIDENCE AND ARGUMENTS

• I am now going to give you a series of statements based on

Treasure Island - Chapters 1 and 2. For each one, your group will
need to copy the statement and indicate if it is an ARGUMENT or
EVIDENCE and why. We will go over these as a class. You may do
this on the evidence/argument assignment we started last week.

• 1. Jim’s father is the owner of the Admiral Benbow Inn.

• 2. The Captain is a very unpleasant person.

• 3. Black Dog is more evil than the Captain.

• 4. Dr. Livesey is a judge as well as a doctor.

• 6. The Captain has a terrible singing voice.

• 7. Billy Bones is a strange and scary name.

• 1. The Captain is terrified of Old Flint.

• 2. The black spot is a death note used by the pirates.

• 3. Flint had a lot of trust in the Captain.

• 4. Pew is a blind man who knows the Black Dog and Billy Bones.

• 5. Pew is a violent, wicked person.

• 6. Pew put the black spot in the Captain’s left hand.

• For Adan: Pew gets killed when horses trample on him.
