1. INTRODUCTION
PVR Pacific Mall is located at Tagore garden, Subhash Nagar area in West Delhi. It is
well connected by public and private transport. The mall has many national and
international brands and PVR cinema. The nearby metro station is Subhash Nagar
metro station, which is just 0.5km of distance from the mall.
Location: Kumar Pacific Mall lies in the zone G-14 of Delhi Master Plan 2021.
1.2 HISTORY
Subhash Nagar is basically a refuge colony with the people migrated from West Punjab,
Sindh and North West frontier province but now people from Uttarakhand, Rajasthan,
West Bengal, East Punjab and South India are also living in this place. The Mall was
inaugurated in the year 2005. Developed by Pacific India Group.
1.3 USERS
People of all age groups were found using the mall for their shopping and leisure
purpose. But the majority of users belong to the 19-24 age groups, followed by 25-35.
Major user groups that can be defined on the basis of their function:
• Retailers- The people who own the shops in the mall.
• Consumers- The people who come to shop or for leisure activities in the mall.
• Vendors -owners of the flea market shops and small food vendors.
• Office Staff- Mall managing staff.

3. ACTIVITY STUDY
Pacific Mall is a very active place especially in the evening times. The place attracts many
visitors because of the various national and multinational retail outlets. With added
accessibility through metro (Subhash Nagar), buses and other para-transport, the place
receives approximately 7000 of footfall every day. Weekends are busier than Weekdays.
4. DESIGN FEATURES

Vegetation:
More than 35% of the plaza is covered with plants and lawn. The major plant varieties
used in the plaza is as follows :
At Mall Enterance : chamaerops humilis, golden duranta, ficus microcarpa
At Driveways : plumeria alba, syngonium variegated, monkey grass,golden duranta,
tagetes, grass cover and curtain creeper on boundary wall
At Plaza : chamaerops humilis, ficus microcarpa, royal plam,
Shrubs : tagetes, golden duranta, ligustrum sinense
Ground cover : grass and lantana

Paving Patterns:
Enterance plaza : Cobble stone for flooring
Driveway : patterns of cobble stone and kota stone
Plaza : patterns of granite for flooring and leather finish granite for wall cladding and
copping

5. VISUAL ASSESSMENT
Pacific Mall is a four storied structure surrounded by plazas and driveways. The vertical
to horizontal ratio makes it look grand along with the plaza. Certain visual elements
observed on the site are as follows:

Pacific Mall is managed and owned by Pacific India group. The Plaza and driveways are
equipped with essential street furniture such as- high masts, top post lights and dustbins.
There is need to add more seating spaces to facilitate customer experience.

7. SYNTHESIS
Pacific Mall is running successfully since 2005.The SWOT Analysis of the site as per
the research carried out by the authors is as follows:
Strength:
• Easily accessible from other parts of the Delhi by all modes of transport.
• Ideal location for Trade and Commerce with many tourist attractions nearby.
• The Plazas are pedestrianised.
• Spacious enough to accommodate large crowd both on weekdays and
weekends.
• Provisions for occasional events and flea markets in plaza area
Opportunities:
• Institutional buildings within 2km radius of the mall which can attract more footfall
of young age groups.
• Increased footfall due to Subhash Nagar metro station
Weakness:
• Less vegetated
• Lack of signages
• very congested location
Threat:
• site is located in an extremely overcrowded and congested area.
• No proper diversion of traffic at the entrance.
• Less space for shaded seating
