BREGVESS

SHAWL
By Alla Molchanova

PLEASE first READ THE WHOLE INSTRUCTION before starting to knit 

MATERIALS:
1) I used the Unique Shetland by J C Rennie (216 m (236 yards) / 50 grams) – 3
skeins for the big shawl and 2 skeins for shawlette. Other options: any
fingering yarn preferably of solid color or tweed.
2) Needles: circular 3.5 mm. Gauge is not critical and You can experiment with
different yarns and needles (but not smaller than 3.5 mm).
3) Crochet hook of your preferred size.
“Bregvess” is a triangular shawl, which starts from the center of the neck.
The shawl has edge stitches at either side and the central stitch. Edge stitches
should be knitted on both right (face) and wrong sides. Оn every right side row 4
stitches are increased: by making yarn over after the edge stitches, before and
after the central stitch and before the edge stitches.
The shawl is symmetrical before and after the central stitch. Despite that the
pattern contains charts for both right and left sides of shawl. Note! Central stitch
is marked only on right side charts. Central stitch should be knitted on RS and
purled on WS.
Big shawl and shawlette are knitted similarly until the number of stitches
between the edge stitches and the central stitch will become 101 sts. After that,
the instructions for shawlette and big shawl will be given separately.

All charts are including only RS rows. WS rows are knitted as follow: knit 3
sts, purl till last 3 sts, knit 3 sts.

5 sts, then knit the st from hook together with the next st from right needle, then
again single chain of 4 or 5 st, then knit the st from hook together with the next st
from right needle. Continue in this manner until all sts will be casted-off. Knitting
2 stitches together should always line with pattern, closing the leaf tips. If
You want larger loops You can vary the number stitches in single chain as
You want.
