1- CBI directors and some senior officers were charged with bribery cases. So as a last resort they
turned towards Supreme Court to seek justice. As verdict Supreme Court announced that CVC
(central vigilance committee) should submit the report and the director is going to perform only
those duties that are essential for the CBI to function and will not take any major decisions. The
CVC is also prohibited from investigating the case.
2- Multidimensional Global Poverty Index – according to the report of Howard institute the India’s
global poverty reduced but it is still more than the global average. The average MPI
(multidimensional global poverty index) value is 0.12 but India’s value is 0.1559. Within India
(South Asia) the MPI of cities like Delhi and Kerala is considerably low but on the other hand, the
MPI of cities like UP and MP is considerably high.

1. There is tension between RBI and Center. Reasons of tension include that center is after RBI’s
money for its own benefits and RBI is not doing anything regarding liquidity squeeze. This type
of tension is good and the solution is that RBI and center should resolve this like grown-ups
behind closed doors.
2. Saudi prince Mohammad Bin Salman has initiated military based attacks on Yemen. Because
Yemen Prime Minister requested him for doing that. Because there are multiple riots going on in
Yemen. Because of the murder of some journalist in Istanbul. This caused humanitarian crises
and cholera outbreak and famine which caused the death of around 14 million people. If Saudi is
suspecting geopolitical threats from Iran then it should settle it with Tehran instead of attacking
Yemen.

1. Sardar Patel’s 182m long statue was unveiled by PM on his birthday. He played an important
role in India’s development as a country. He is responsible for the integration of princely states
into independent India. He launched operation POLO for the integration of Hyderabad into
independent India. He got the title of Sardar because he fought against the imposition of taxes
 in Khera and Bardoli. He got the title of ironman because he is responsible for the framework of
the prestigious civil services.

1. Culture of impunity – in 1987 due to some communal riots, the brother of a high ranked army
official was murdered then what he did. He brought an army truck in the village of Hashimpura.
Then he abducted 45 men of Muslim community and tried killing them. Luckily 5 people
survived and filed the charge sheet in 1996. The only way to control communal violence is to
end this culture of impunity because just because of that only the police and lynch mobs get
away with murder.
2. Brazil’s new president is like trump which is a far right leader. He isn’t allowing people to come
and work in his country.

Five Bengali people have been killed by the Assam people. Some rivalry is going on between these two
groups as about 4 million are not able to make it the NRC, national register and citizens. Supreme Court
ordered to take necessary actions to settle this situation. Now after that in Tripura NRC update is also
going to happen and there is high chance that something like this will happen there as well. Bangladesh
is East Pakistan. The main problem is people from East Pakistan (Bangladesh) are coming to Assam and
Assam people are not happy about it because the record of these people is not there and they are
sharing their land and government provided subsidies.

Asia Bibi case – she has been accused of blasphemy (passing illegitimate statements against Prophet
Mohammad, according to Pakistani law she has been charged with blasphemy and was awarded death
penalty. The governor of Punjab and minority minister spoke in favor of her and they had been
assassinated as well. She then appealed in high court that eventually withheld the judgement of the trial
court. Finally she appealed in Supreme Court who announced the verdict in favor of her and took back
the charges and let her go. But the governments out her in the list of people who cannot leave the
county as a lot of Christian organizations are willing to provide the asylum to her as they had already
provided the asylum to her two daughters and her husband.

1. Pollution in Delhi is been rising and it can be regarded as new tobacco. The reason includes
burning of agriculture residues in cities like Punjab and Haryana along with the obvious reasons.
According to the UN reports, only 8% of the air in South Asia is breathable and the mortality rate
in Delhi has also increased more than 60% in past 10 years. Possible solutions include converting
agriculture wastes into biodiesels and increasing the parking rate etc.
