Tab Top Collection
Our wonderful son, Layton, attended school in Litchfield from Pre-
school through the 12" grade. Layton graduated in 2017 and then
moved to Normal, IL to attend college. October 25, 2017, Layton
was diagnosed with Leukemia. Layton started treatment in
Springfield, IL immediately and then went to St. Louis Children’s
Hospital in March of 2018 for a Bone Marrow Transplant. Layton
never gave up and fought each day with a positive attitude.
Layton passed away due to complications from the transplant on
October 12, 2018. While in St. Louis, the Ronald McDonald
House provided our family with an apartment a few blocks from
the hospital. We used this apartment for out of town family, just to
get cleaned up each day, and to make Layton some of his favorite
meals. The Ronald McDonald House provides rooms and
apartments to families at little to no cost. We would like to give
back to the Ronald McDonald House.
In Layton’s memory, we are holding a soda tab top drive.
Annually, these little tabs help generate $25,000 which will help
other families of critically ill children. We ask that each classroom
collects soda tabs from now until the-end of April. We will then
collect all of the tabs from each classroom, and whichever
classroom (Pre-school through 12" grade) collects the most tabs
will receive a pizza party from Layton’s Legacy! We will then take
all of the collected soda tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in
St. Louis on May 4". Thank you so much for your participation!
