LESSON PLAN

Grade 7 Mathematics
Prepared by: Lota Baleta
December 5, 2018
Gr. 7 Sections Gray, Blue, Peach, Yellow and Silver

I. Objective: Solve linear inequalities in one variable algebraically.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Solving Linear Inequalities Algebraically
B. Reference: LM p.172-174, TG 210-213
C. Materials: manila paper, blackboard

III. Procedure

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Daily routine

2. Review

A. Solve for x.

x+2=4 3x – 2 = 4 5x - 1 = - 6

x–3=7 x + 2 = -1

B. What is the difference between < and ≤ and between > and ≥? Give examples.

B. Developmental Activities

1. Activity
Answer Exercise B on LM page 176.
Fill in the blanks by identifying the property of inequality used in each of the ff:

1
The teacher will show another way to solve the problems.

Example 1:
From the given replacement set, find the solution set of the following inequalities

3x – 5 7 {–2, 0, 1, 3, 5, 9}
Solution:

3x > 7 + 5
3x > 12
3 3

x>4

Answer: {5, 9}

Example 2: 5x + 7 > 13 + 11x

2. Analysis

How do you find the solution set of linear inequalities?

What part of the solution did you find difficult?
In using the Multiplication Property of Inequality, what happens to the sense of
the inequality if you multiply or divide both sides of the equation with a
negative number?

3. Application

Students will work in pairs. Answer Activity on Page 177.

From the given replacement set, find the solution set of the following inequalities.

2
4. Abstraction

To solve linear inequalities in one variable, isolate the variable that you are
solving by applying the properties of inequality.

IV. Assessment
A. Solve the following linear inequalities and find the solutions set of the
following inequalities (2pts each)

1. x + 3 < 7 {-2, -1, 1, 4, 7, 6}

2. 2x – 5 ≥ 1 {-3, -2, 0, 6, 8, 10, 13}

B. Solve the following inequalities.

3. 5x + 3 < 13
4. 3x – 2 ≥ 14
5. 6x + 7 > 3 + 8x

V. Assignment

Solve the following. Submit in a ¼ sheet of paper.

1. 7x – 3 < 18
2. 5x + 4 ≤ 19
3. 4x + 28 > 7 + x
4. 2x – 9 > 3 ( x – 2)
