Effect of Classroom Scarcity To Selected ANHS Junior High School Students
Classrooms are where majority of learning processes and activities happen. A place
supposedly should be conducive to development of student’s cognitive abilities, mental as well
as social skills, however in majority of school in the Philippines this isn’t the case. Lack of
classrooms and learning facilities had long been a problem and yet had been often overlooked.
As a result, it is a natural occurrence that in overcrowded schools, a large number of students are
stationed inside a small classroom therefore limiting the quality and the quantity of interaction
between teachers and students affecting learning efficiency. In worst cases, some classrooms are
even divided into two classes creating an unhealthy noisy environment which has an overall
negative impact to student’s learning and academic aspect.
Some evidences suggest that overcrowding has an adverse impact on learning. However,
studies between the relationship of lack of classroom and its effect on student learning had been
limited.
