A group of students, alumni and current instructors from Foundation University Fine Arts Program
were commissioned by the Dumaguete City Tourism Office to craft the Christmas lanterns patterned
after the local and endangered wildlife species found all over the country.
The Presidencia Plaza and the Quezon Park now features colorful fireflies, whale shark, nudibranch,
spotted deer, tarictic, sea turtle and many others as it hosts the works of Jomir Tabudlong, Flomil Rey
Labarento, Julbert Ramos, Michael Jude Millares, Jose Phil Sabuga, Bragg Namol, Florenz Dionisio,
Earl Ivann Caballes, Lorenz Dionisio and Vilmar Dagoy.
Dumaguete City Local Government purposely conceptualized the wildlife-inspired decors in order “to
pay tribute to the environment this Christmas.”
The Fine Arts Department of Foundation University aims not only to exhibit the work of students
enrolled in the program but is geared towards bringing art closer to the community in order to cultivate
the appreciation among individuals outside the peripheries of the academic community.
