1. Course Introduction and Objectives

This course introduces students to the fascinating world of production planning and control and its importance in the
development and growth of society. The understanding of various production planning concepts is very critical to a
MBA graduate.
2. Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the students should be able to

LO1: understand the importance of production planning and control


LO2: understand the concepts of work measurement
LO3: Understand the various steps of product design.
LO4: Understand the various steps of product planning
LO5: Understand the concept of scheduling, loading and line balancing

3. Course Pedagogy
The course will use the mixed technique of interactive lectures, guided case studies, regular assignments, industrial
visits and project work. Teaching in this course is aimed to engage the students in strengthening their conceptual
foundation, hands on practice and applying the knowledge gained to different day to day real world applications.

4. Course Contents and Duration


The class would meet 4 lectures weekly for a period of 12 weeks approx.

5. Course Assessment

Assessment Scheme

Students would be assessed continuously during the course through the activities and deliverables mentioned in the
table below. Course assessment is based on multiple student’s activities/ Mini project deliverables (records/ evidence
of his/her performing and learning). They could be in the form of practical performed, Group wise project progress
evaluated through PowerPoint Presentations, Project completed, mid term and End-term examinations. The details
of the components of assessment are detailed next.

Description of Course Assessment Components

The course is of 100 marks and will have the following assessment components. Final Grades will be based on the
relative performance of a student in the class.
