Warm up Before he arrived home he had bought a present for his wife. T  Ss
3’ Why did he buy a present? T asks Ss to give possible
situations.
Homework Find authentic examples of Past Perfect Simple on the Ss  T
check internet.

Revising Past Perfect Simple – form, meaning, contexts.
Grammar The T presents the first PPT (see below PPT 01) with Ss  T
Presentation sentences containing Past Perfect Continuous. T elicits
15’ concept questions to check the understanding of the tense
used.

The second PPT (see below PPT 02) is presented to Ss.
They are shown the form and the uses of Past Perfect
Continuous.
The T asks Ss to discuss the differences between Past Perfect
Simple and Past Perfect Continuous.
The T asks Ss to discuss the differences between Past Perfect
Continuous and Present Perfect Continuous.
The slides of the presentation no 2 are given below.

Practice Continuous.
15’ The worksheet also has an exercise to help Ss understand the
differences between Past Perfect and the Past Perfect
Continuous. The worksheet is given below.
Grammar The T gives Ss the following sentences.
Production Felix the cat had been sleeping all morning. He’d been

Then the T asks Ss to continue the story using Past Perfect
Continuous.
Homework Make up a story with another character you prefer, using T  Ss
