THESIS SYNOPSIS
| 01 INTRODUCTION
Being deaf is a condition where a person has little to no hearing . Hearing loss may occur in one or
both ears. In children, hearing problems can affect the ability to learn spoken language and in adults it
can create difficulties with social interaction and at work.
32 million children across the world live with disabling hearing loss
40% is attributable to genetic causes
31% to infections such as measles, mumps, rubella and meningitis
17% to complications at birth, including prematurity, low birth weight and neonatal jaundice.
| 02 REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Many deaf people have struggled to find their place in a hearing world. Because hearing loss is not a
physical characteristic that sets them apart, deaf people cannot easily be discerned from the hearing
majority. Deaf people can choose to assimilate and try to blend in with the hearing society, or they
can choose to identify themselves with the Deaf culture. Many people are unaware of the differences
that exist between the hearing and Deaf cultures, but they exist nonetheless.
Deaf school provides the people with an opportunity to overcome the challenges that the face to the
spaces they are exposed to. It will provide them with an architecture that has a language and helps
them to connect well with the peers and space.
