Lesson idea implementation:
Students will watch the short video on brain pop and take the quiz to make sure they understand all the key ideas from the brain pop video. Students will work in pairs and decide on a topic where they can gather information about a sample of a population (fifty students in the school). For example: What is your favorite subject? Math, Science, English, Reading, or History. Students will individually write a paragraph each about their findings. Students will take the data that they gathered and put it in a bar graph. Students will color each bar a different color so they can clearly see the difference between each subcategory. This will give students a visual representation of the data found. Reflective Practice: A way I can extend this assignment is to have students take the same topic but have a different population. For example: their population can be the people on their baseball team instead of students at their school. Students will need time outside of class to do this.
