This Specification covers the design of reinforced concrete foundations, steel

platform
This scope of this Project requires the need for detailed engineering, procurement,
construction, installation, testing and pre-commissioning, and commissioning of the
Gas Pipelines utilising the Continuous Horizontal Directional Drilling installation
method (CHDD).
The objective of this design calculation is to:
Design suitable skid to receive and transfer point loads manifold system via
supports to the foundation , choosing proper steel sections and considering the
engineering properties of the sub- soil from geotechnical report.
Ensure that the steel member sections and foundation sizes including
reinforcement steel provided are adequate for Ultimate Limit State and
Serviceability Limit State requirements.
The structural analysis of the foundation and steel platform were performed in line
with factors, loads and parameters defined in the relevant sections of British
Standard 5950:2000 and the Civil / Structural Design Basis 322503.DAST.33011 and
Geotechnical report 3204.17.DASG.33007

Following the loadings obtained from pipe stress analysis, the platform beams and
columns on which support the piping loads was designed by STAADPRO Vi8 ss5 and the
reactions obtained where transferred to the footings via the pedestals, on this
basis the foundation analysis, adequate sizing and appropriate reinforcement steel
were chosen for the foundation base. Also, all reinforced concrete members were
checked for adequacy in bending, shear resistance and stability. Information and
data used for the foundation and

platform design was obtained from the Remote Manifold Location Plan
3204.17.DTDL.15111.
The limit state design approach was used to perform the design. Adequate
reinforcement, steel and concrete member sizes were provided based on the maximum
forces and moments obtained.
Several assumptions were made while performing the design, they include assumption
that:
