SUMMARY

Effect of Giving Fruit Flies (Drosophila melanogaster) and Green Grasshopper

(Antractomorpha crenulata) on the Productivity of Rangrang Ants. (Kasno, under the
guidance of Rustama Saepudin and Warnoto, 2018).

Crane ants (Oecophylla smaragdina) are ants that have high economic value, because
they are kroto producers. Kroto is an egg, pupa, and larvae of ants (Oecophylla smaragdina).
Kroto is usually used as bird feed, fishing bait, and for chicken feed because it can accelerate
fur growth and meat production. With this research, it is expected that the community can get
information about the potential of the Kroto cultivation business in the city of Bengkulu and
become a reference for policy makers of the development of kroto cultivation in Bengkulu
City.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to determine the effect of feeding Green Grasshopper

(Antractomorpha crenulata) and Fruit Flies (Drosophila melanogaster) on the productivity of
kroto Semut Rangrang. The method of research that I used was the experimental method with
the experimental design used was Complete Random Design (CRD). This research was
conducted from May 17 to August 29, 2018 which is located in Beringin Alley 4 in Camping
Rayhan.

Based on the results of the study using 50%: 50% feed (the main food in the form of
grasshoppers and fruit flies) has an average yield of 28.8 grams, while the yield using 100%
feed (main feed in the form of fruit flies) only has an average of 23, 9 grams and for the
average feed yield using 100% (main food in the form of grasshoppers), which is 28.2 grams.
From these averages can be learned that varying feeding will have a better productivity
impact if compared to just one type of feed to increase kroto productivity.

Keywords: Varied feeding.
