CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

According to the study of western Michigan University a large amount of student time is

spent sitting in a school classroom.This place is where they learn the various skills deemed

necessary and proper for them to achieve success in the global city.This classroom is where they

will gain an understanding of their place in the world and the gifts that they have to offer it.It is

where the students develop what they want their future to look like, as well as knowledge of the

skills needed to reach that goal.With the classroom being such an important place in the growth

of a child it is important to understand the ways in which to affect this environment in order to

recieve maximum effectiveness instruction.If school really do play a large role in teaching the

next generation how to be successful members of society then every precaution should be taken

to make sure that the learning environment is one that helps students thrive.Nowadays, some

Based on RA No.9155 otherwise known as Governance of Basic education Act of 2001

section 7 of chapter 1 that states that consistent with the national education policies,plans and

standards, the school head shall have authority, accountability and responsibility for creating an

environment within the school that is conducive to teaching of learning.

Comfortable Environment is an environment that students can feel comfortable with and

motivates them to do their best work.When a students feels that an educator has a vested interest

them as a person first a learner second, that student will make an investment in themselves,too.
When a student feels,they belong, the work become more significant, and student begins to have

fun.the feeling of significant,belonging, and fun will galvanize a student to push forward when

the learning becomes hard.This is what enables student to produce a higher level,they are not

accepting failure and they are appreciating their environment, themselves with in the

environment, and reacting to it.

Statement of the Problem

The study focused on the Effects of having Comfortable Environment on Students

Capabilities Towards Learning of selected Grade 12 HUMSS 01 and GAS 01B Students in

PHINMA CAGAYAN DE ORO COLLEGE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL of academic school year

2018-2019.

Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions:

Research Hypothesis:

1. There are certain struggles/difficulties of students with regards to typical way of learning.
2. There are different kinds of effects of having comfortable environment to students learning.

3. The relationship of having comfortable environment on student's capabilities towards learning

is that comfortable environment is one of the factors that makes student capable to learn

effectively.

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to provide and create necessary information that will serve as the

basis of creating an environment that assess the needs of every student that will enable them to

learn effectively within the environment they are in. A confortable place where a student can

easily adapt and generate things, where they will be motivated and inspired to listen well during
class discussions peacefully.This will also serves as an awareness to every individual specially to

learners on how important to have much comfort without those disturbance factors that will

affect their concentration in school.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The study was focused on the effect of having Comfortable Environment on students

capabilities towards learning among Grade 12 HUMSS 01 and GAS 01B Students in PHINMA

CAGAYAN DE ORO COLLEGE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. During 2nd semester of academic

school year 2018-2019. The respondents of the study were aged 17-18 years old with
approximately 100 students. The study was conducted at Cagayan de Oro College Phinma Hall

buildimg at the 4th floor room PH 404 and PH 415.

The topics covered were the approach of students regarding what is comfortable

environment and their needs in order to attain comfortable environment.

Rationale of the Study

The results of this study are beneficial to the school because it will contribute informatics

that will help the whole school it will contribute information's that will help the while school

administrations to hand over the defecient need to enhance and develop the best comfortable

environment that students acquire in order to aimed the best capabilities they want in learning.

Moreover, the results of the study will be also beneficial to the following:

Students - the study of having comfortable helps students attain the environment that will fit

their typical way of learning in order to survive and achieve the goals they wanted.

Diversity- the state of having students who are different cultures or religion in a particular place.

Effectiveness- the degree to which something particular solution is successful and productive.

Environment- the setting where students settle.

Galvanize- to cause excitement and to make students active.

Learning- the student studying for more information and keep their knowledge improve.

Longitudinal- the activity in which done by observing or examining a group of students.

Perspective- having a particular attitude toward something.

Physical Environment- the condition in which surrounds student that will influence and affect

them..

Struggling- the condition in which student feels difficulties in learning.

Thrive- the state in which a student progress toward a particular goal.

Stifles- the condition which hinders the students to do something.
