and leadership that recognize young women
who lift up our society and serve as positive
role models. St. Vincent’s Foundation has long
been an advocate for women of all ages and
their important role in the fabric of our society
as civic, volunteer, family and business leaders.

Criteria for
The Mary Awards
The Mary Awards honor the courage and
willingness of young women (seniors in high
school) who are serving God through their
faith community and serving their neighbor.
The finalists will be recognized and honored by
the Jacksonville community and St. Vincent’s
Foundation at a dinner and awards event.
Every valid nominee will be listed in the
evening’s program.
Twelve (12) finalists will be selected, three (3)
in each of the following categories: academics,
athletics, leadership and volunteerism/
philanthropy. The criteria for nominating a
candidate will be:
1. Service to God and their faith community
2. Creativity and achievement in one of the four
defined fields: academics, athletics, leadership
and volunteerism/philanthropy
3. Selflessness and service to their neighbor
A committee representing the diversity of our
region will select the finalists in each category.
A call for nominations will open from January 1,
2019 until the February 7, 2019 deadline.
The twelve finalists will be interviewed
and their references will be checked by the
committee. Applications require the online
submission of both a letter of nomination (from
an adult family member, friend, teacher, mentor
or counselor) and a letter of endorsement
(from a religious leader of her faith).

The Award Ceremony
and Dinner
The awards dinner will be held on Tuesday,
April 30th at 6:30 pm at the Jacksonville
Marriott. Each recipient will receive a $1,000
cash gift from St. Vincent’s Foundation. If, for
any reason, the recipient cannot accept the
gift, it may be directed to a charity or faith

St. Vincent’s Foundation welcomes
applications from high school senior Emcee for the Event
women whose permanent address is
Mary Baer, WJXT Channel 4 news anchor
in Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau or
Baker counties.
• A call for nominations will be open from
January 1, 2019 until February 7, 2019.
• Applications require the online
submission of both a letter of nomination

leader of her faith). The applicant is
responsible for ensuring that her
nomination, endorsement and all other
components of her application are
submitted online.
• Finalists will be notified the week of
February 11, 2019 and will be required
to attend an interview at the offices of
St. Vincent’s Foundation located at
St. Vincent’s Medical Center Riverside
Medical Center on February 23, 2019.
