FACT SHEET: 9.8hp Parsun Outboard Motor
Fact Fact Sheet – 9.8hp .8hp Parsun Outboard Motor Motor Extended feature descriptions: 1. 9.8hp 2 cylinder outboard. 2. Forward / Neutral / Reverse gearshift. 3. Water cooling outlet. This lets the customer know the outboard is pumping water to avoid the outboard overheating. 4. Marine grade aluminium castings. Stainless steel bolts & PPG (USA) painting systems. 5. Weighs 26kg 6. Aluminium propeller. 7. Manual pull start. 8. Choke for initial start-up. 9. Fuel connection 10. Twist grip throttle. This is the most important feature. It gives the outboard a complete one handed control over the throttle and steering. 11. Stop button and overboard cut out. This stop button has a lanyard which you attach to start the motor. The lanyard is then placed around your wrist or connected to your clothing or lifejacket in case you fall from the boat. If you fall from the boat the lanyard will pull from the outboard stopping operation. Manually pushing down on the button will stop the motor as well. This comes in handy when stopping and starting frequently so you don’t need to keep connecting the lanyard. 12. Engine mounting clamps. Two threaded thumb screws used to secure the outboard to the boat.
Operating the outboard:
1. Secure the outboard to the boat using the outboard mounting clamps. Special note: After running the outboard for one minute, these clamps need to be re-tightened. 2. Attach the safety lanyard to stop button / overboard cut out. Attach the lanyard to your person. 3. Pull choke out fully. Special note: If the choke isn’t pulled out fully it will make the outboard hard to start. 4. Turn the throttle to full power. Special note: Throttle needs to be on full when cold or the engine will be hard to start. 5. Check the outboard is in Neutral gear before attempting to start. 6. Grab the manual starter handle. Slightly pull on the handle until you feel the start mechanism engage. 7. Once starter is engaged, give the starter rope a firm fast pull. Special note: Hold the outboard throttle with one hand to adjust outboard RPM once the outboard starts. If the outboard doesn’t start, repeat steps 7 through to 9 up to five times. 8. Let the outboard warm up for one minute, making sure the outboard is pumping water through outlet. Stop the outboard and re-tighten the outboard mounting clamps. 9. The outboard is ready to be used. Restart without using any choke (unless necessary). 10. At the end of each day’s use – flush the outboard using fresh water and flusher. Run for five minutes, clean the outside of the outboard with soapy fresh water to remove salt. 11. Scheduled maintenance servicing - first service is at 10hrs / 3 months (whichever is first), minor service is at 50hrs / 6 months (whichever is first) and major service is at 100hrs / 12 months (whichever comes first).
