ELECTRICITY!!

By : Cindy, Isa & Nicco

INTRODUCTION !!!

Can you imagine world without energy. No one would

have any heat or light, because they are forms of
energy. Nothing would move because motion
represents energy. Electricity is a form of energy
that flows in currents instead of waves. Electricity
is an important form of energy.
So r of E t it

There are lots of sources to start electricity.

There are five main sources. There is fossil fuels,
it contains coal, oil, and natural gases. There is
also biomass and nuclear energy as main sources
of electricity that power things and help them
move.
Electricity is a form
of energy. Electricity can HOW TO MAKE ELECTRICITY
be made in many different
ways. It is all through your
homes like in your
refrigerator and your TV.
When you have a charger
in the outlet it uses
electricity to charge your
devices. Generators are
how electricity is made.
Generators are found in
power plants. Also there
are other sources of
electricity, including .
batteries..
Lightning, a

Electric Currents!!!
form of
electric
currents

An example of electric energy is an electric current. An electric current is the

movement or flow of electric particles. A current is caused by the flow of free electrons
from one thing to the next. Currents are determined by the number of electrons passing
through the cross section of a conductor in a second. Electric currents are measured in
amperes. An example of an electric current is that electricity comes to us through power
lines which are conductors they carry the electricity from power plants to our homes.
Another example of an electric current is lightning which doesn’t last very long the
electric current that powers our lamps and stoves last longer.

Did you know ?

Did you know that some conductors are made of gold?
Static Electricity
Static electricity is a type of electricity that
doesn’t move in currents, a example of static
electricity is lightning. Static electricity happens when
opposite electrons of different ends rub together really
fast, when that happens it creates a electric charge.
When you get a electric charge more than 20,000 -
25,000 volts pulse through your finger if you have
high voltage. Did you know that 1,350 MJ
(millijoules) can kill a human? Static electricity is
attracted to hair and dust (like when you rub a
balloon against your head really fast and lift it up,
the electrons from your hair are pull onto the balloon. Lightning is a form of static
Thats why your hair rises up, its trying to get some of electricity
the electrons it had lost.)
A girl that just went
Types of electricity !!! down a slide and her
hair is staticy

There are two main types of electricity static electricity and current electricity. Static
electricity is made when two objects rub together and create friction. The other type of
electricity is current electricity which is made by the flow of electric charge through a
conductor. An example of static electricity is when you go down a slide and your hair stands
up. Current electricity is the constant flow of electrons.

Did you know?

Did you know that current is the speed at which electric charge moves
through its conductor?
Conclusion
Electricity is such an important form of energy, it is really
important in our world, without it, life would be much harder.
Imagine, not able to turn on the TV whenever you wanted, or no
light when you flip a switch. Everything that you turn on is electric
and often we take it for granted. Would you make windmill out of
scraps to conduct electricity? (the boy who harnessed the wind
(you should read it.))
GLOSSARY

1. Biomass : matter used as fuel

2. Particles : a tiny portion of matter
3. Conductor : an object that allows electricity to flow from one place to the next
4. Amperes : a way to measure currents
5. Opposite electrons : electrons from two different poles
6. Electric charge : static electricity’s reaction when rubbed
7. Generators : a machine that makes mechanical energy electrical energy
8. Friction : an object that moves over another
