Saturn’s Transiting Aspects
Saturn in Capricorn and the Signs of the Zodiac (Horoscopes)

Saturn enters the sign of Capricorn on December 19th, 2017.

Saturn will occupy the sign of Capricorn from December 19, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and
then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020.

Dec 19, 2017 11:49 PM EST Saturn enters Capricorn

Mar 21, 2020 11:58 PM EDT Saturn enters Aquarius
Jul 1, 2020 7:37 PM EDT Saturn Rx enters Capricorn
Dec 17, 2020 12:04 AM EST Saturn enters Aquarius

Saturn takes about 28-29 years to come full circle, and thus spends on average close to
2-1/2 years in a sign.

Saturn Transits: General

Saturn transits and cycles can be considered cycles of achievement and maturity. When
Saturn forms a hard aspect to a personal point in our chart, we might feel that everything is
slowed down–we encounter delays, frustrations, and pressures. But these times also challenge
us to face reality, thereby opening ourselves up to increased wisdom and the freedom that
comes with living in truth.

Significant decisions are often made during Saturn’s hard transits to our personal planets.
These transits slow life down (or at least, that is how we perceive it) and force us to live our
lives in the present. Although Saturn transits can make life feel like a drudgery (these are
often times when our lives seem to move at a snail’s pace and advancements are hard to see),
they also give us the opportunity to gain inner strength, to become more responsible for what
we do and say, and to cut out waste or excesses in our lives. Basically, what happens is a form
of paring or slimming down in the area of life affected by Saturn. We are getting rid of things
in our lives that are not working for us in the real world, and focusing on improving and
strengthening the things that do serve a useful purpose.

Saturn transits can also be considered times of conservation in whatever area of life that
Saturn is affecting. We generally build up our reserves and conserve our energy during these
periods. Delays and little but irksome problems might be experienced. Things break down,
our needs often go unmet by others, we often feel misunderstood and even left out, we tend to
find others harsh and unsympathetic (although this is often a perception thing – we, in fact,
may be lacking a sense of humor), and we often feel burdened or put upon.

Saturn transits teach us to take responsibility for ourselves. At the outset of a Saturn transit,
we might feel like the world is a cold place. If we are mature, we will at some point come to
the realization that we cannot always pass blame for the problems in our lives. We need to
reach within and pull out our own inner strength — to rely on ourselves.

Depression can be a byproduct of heavy Saturn transits. However, if we focus our energies
into meaningful endeavors without pushing too hard for recognition or support from others,
we can fight the inclination towards a gloom-and-doom attitude. Saturn reminds us of reality
and the need for greater self-discipline. Re-organizing the area of life represented by the
house or personal point that Saturn is “hitting” can lead to great rewards. Remember that
Saturn transits do not completely flatten us, by all means. Instead, they slow us down, force us
to live in the here and now, keep us from taking unnecessary risks, and help us to build and
structure our lives in ways that will benefit us later.

It is interesting to consider the transits and themes that ran through our lives before our Saturn
transits. If we were riding high during a high-speed Uranus transit just before Saturn “hit”,
this period can mark a significant time in our lives when we “pay” for the risks we may have
taken during that Uranus phase. If we’ve been experiencing heavy Neptune transits, then this
can be a particularly disillusioning time. If Saturn transits come shortly after a Jupiter-themed
period in our lives, we may feel particularly hard hit as well. Perhaps the Jupiter period has
led us to overspend or ignore our basics, and then Saturn moves in to “correct” that situation
and to force us to face our personal realities. Life is not, in fact, all fun and games. We have to
work and save–and that is what Saturn teaches us. Thus, it is helpful to consider the context of
our recent and past experiences when considering how Saturn transits might affect us.

We should also look to the position of transiting Saturn by house, the zodiac signs involved,
and the condition of the personal planet/point itself. If the personal planet/point happens to be
our chart ruler (that is, it rules our Ascendant), we may experience particularly powerful
events and circumstances, for example. If our natal Sun and Moon are in hard aspect to each
other, then Saturn transits will be impacting both personal points at the same time. If
transiting Saturn is making a hard aspect with a stellium of planets, then we will be
experiencing a more complex set of circumstances and attitudes that might have a greater
impact than if the personal point alone was affected.

Saturn teaches us about the value of moderation and caution. Perhaps the best way to
“handle” hard Saturn transits to personal planets and points is to avoid fighting these lessons.
Accept that, at this time in your life, things may move at a slower speed (even a snail’s pace).
Saturn wants us to work hard, put our energies into practical, useful, and meaningful projects,
and to live in the here and now. This period in your life is a time for building a solid
foundation. Understand that moderation at this point in your life is necessary for your spiritual
growth and your physical body as well. Avoid blaming others for where you are at now–doing
this will only lead to feelings of melancholy and anger. Know that this period in your life,
while temporary, is a time for learning about your personal limits as well as your inner
strength. Carry these lessons as you move beyond this phase, because how you handle your
life now will make all the difference the next time (7 years later) Saturn makes a hard aspect
to the same planet or point in your chart.

Saturn’s Transit Through Capricorn: General Influences – Practice makes

perfect

While Saturn transited Libra from late 2009 until October 2012, our one-to-one committed
relationships came up for inspection. We took a more serious, critical look at these
relationships, and imbalances were more difficult to tolerate. With Saturn in Scorpio from
October 2012 to December 2014 and then June to September 2015, we dug more deeply into
the dynamics of our relationships. Saturn in Sagittarius from 2015 to 2017 urged us to take
control of our excesses, to question our faith, and to better understand our belief systems.

With Saturn in Capricorn, one of the signs it rules, Saturn is dignified and functioning well.
Saturn feels right at home in Capricorn. This is a time for turning a critical eye to those of our
career choices that don’t accurately reflect our authentic selves.

Capricorn is a sign that wants respect and Saturn does, too. Saturn in Capricorn will work
hard to earn it. We’ll also be seeing more respect for people who have put in the effort, as
well as for elders who deserve it. Conservation is a big theme now. Taking the easy road is
not favored during this transit. Rewards come from putting in the effort. We might also be
striving for more authority in a particular area of our lives now. Where Saturn transits in our
charts, we may be best off cutting our losses and rebuilding if things are not faring well.
Saturn demands simplicity, definition, realism, and truth wherever it touches our charts.
Saturn also tests, not for the fun of it but for our own sakes. Saturn will reveal weak areas that
need strengthening.

Saturn takes its time, and this is a good thing. With Saturn, we can only get to a healthy,
balanced place if we take our time doing so, thoroughly.

With Saturn, a desire to gain control is present, and some of us might attempt to control the
people in our lives, but this is a difficult and frustrating path to take. Eventually and ideally,
we understand that it is only ourselves who we can control.

Saturn in its own sign doesn’t look to other influences for approval. It’s the final dispositor
and thus has the last word. The goal now is to create or restore order. We’ll see the beginnings
of long-term well-built structures. Saturn transiting Capricorn is a time for making things that
last, and for looking past immediate pleasure, concerns, and desires towards future success
and stability. Saturn and Capricorn hate waste and want to reduce frivolity.

Fear of scarcity, having nothing, or losing everything can be powerful motivators under this
influence. It’s a somewhat isolating energy as well.

There can be a firming up in government, with our attitude towards the aging, status or
classes, order, organization, and finances. There are no shortcuts with this position! Patience
and effort are valued, but also efficiency.

Capricorn is an uphill battle that actually, eventually succeeds. Perseverance is rewarded. The
rewards are usually delayed, and that’s the point. The results are long-lasting. With Saturn in
Capricorn, we have a sense that we should work hard for what we want if we want it to last,
grow, and strengthen.

Capricorn themes include aging, experience, ambition, skeleton, bones, skin, buildings,
government, engineering, traditions, structures, rules, defense, fatherhood, boundaries,
preparation, planning. Reforms and efforts to strengthen, build, or rebuild structures in these
areas are likely. We turn a critical eye towards these things with Saturn in Capricorn. Some
questions emerging during this transit, for example, may be whether or not fathers are taking
enough responsibility, whether or not we’re doing the right things for our posture and bones,
whether or not we’ve prepared or planned ahead for old age, and so forth.

Capricorn favors quality over quantity, simplicity over chaos. Ambition is more
straightforward during this period. We want to achieve our goals and we’re willing to put a lot
of effort into doing so. Saturn in Capricorn is a particularly hard-working, solitary energy and
we may need to watch that we don’t overlook some of our needs for comfort, family, and
nurture during this cycle.

We’ve had Pluto transiting Capricorn since 2008 and Pluto will continue moving through the
sign until 2024. Saturn will meet with Pluto exactly in 2020 and then move into Aquarius
before Pluto finishes its transit of Capricorn. Whereas Pluto seeks increased power and
control through our undertakings, career, and reputation or status, Saturn seeks perfection,
increased performance, and proof that we’re worth something. Saturn attempts to clean up
some of the excesses or obsessions of Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto tears down, Saturn builds, and
in this sense, it’s a powerful combination.

Although Saturn rules Capricorn, Saturn and Capricorn are not the same energy. Life doesn’t
necessarily become more Capricorn. In fact, the more negative expressions of the sign of
Capricorn, such as excessive materialism, pessimism, and rigidity, are things that won’t work
for us now. These become glaring under Saturn’s stern eye. In some manner, we are bound to
see that there is a price to pay for these behaviors, or it will become extremely clear that we
have lost too much time, energy, and happiness on these things. Even so, Saturn invokes a
craving for the positive qualities of whatever sign it inhabits or planet it touches. We’re now
striving towards more order, integrity, discipline, patience, and perseverance.

Saturn demands definitions, structures, and commitments. But for many of us, as soon as
something is defined, structured, or committed, we might feel caged, trapped, or limited.
Saturn in Capricorn can teach us that there are freedom and liberation in abiding by certain
rules, and in some level of self-denial. This is a time for making clear choices and decisions,
for weeding out what isn’t working for us, and for letting go of lost causes, particularly
related to our life path choices, careers, and long-term goals.

Saturn aims to cut out excessive or overdone expectations. Under good conditions and ideally,
Saturn gives us a dose of realism without pessimism, essentially keeping us in line without
dampening our spirits (too much).

On a body level and for better health during this transit, it will be important to pay extra
attention to the bones including teeth as well as skin (our internal and external body
structures), and more specifically to the knees. Saturn in Capricorn is associated with
contraction and rigidity, stressing the importance of yoga and stretching exercises.

Saturn teaches that freedom is not about escaping our responsibilities nor is it about breaking
all the rules. Saturn shows us that we grow through our failures as much as, or perhaps more
than, our successes. This is a time for letting go of self-defeating attitudes that have been
holding us back, recognizing exactly where we have been overdoing our expectations, and
finding new, perhaps more authentic ways to nurture our ambitions. We are seeing where
we’ve been overconfident, sloppy, entitled, and excessive, and how these things have
ultimately contributed to stagnation, frustration, or letdown.

This transit is about sincerity and authenticity. It’s a good time to enlist the help of mentors,
elders, or authorities on matters. With Saturn, “quality over quantity” applies. We might want
to use this cycle to focus on and develop one special project in the areas of our charts where
Saturn is transiting in order to help add purposefulness and depth to our lives. Dedication to
one or two meaningful pursuits or undertakings can be significantly more satisfying than
spreading ourselves around. In order to really benefit and learn from this period, we need to
accept that some options may be limited in order to enjoy a simpler, more fulfilling life.

Saturn in Capricorn in business: Specializations work best now. This is the time for putting
more effort into doing something well. High-quality items are likely to be most popular,
although we’re also quite concerned with economics at this time. People will want to get the
most for their money, more economical. Advice now would be to take few shortcuts. Live
your truth – be who you are, be honest, be straightforward. However, draw boundaries – keep
personal and professional life mostly separate. Be ethical.

Fashions may be more conservative, classy, utilitarian or simply elegant.

Saturn in Capricorn in relationships: Being on time, reliable, and showing respect are all
valued in partners during this transit. Relationships may be a little more business-like or more
traditional and defined. Long-term viability and value are taken into consideration more than
usual while Saturn transits Capricorn.

In 2018: Saturn transits/spans the following degrees of Capricorn in 2018: 1 Capricorn 24 to

11 Capricorn 16

In 2018, Saturn is retrograde from April 17th (at 9 Capricorn 08) to September 6th (at 2
Capricorn 32).

During its transit of Capricorn, Saturn forms the following outer planet transits:

Saturn semi-square Jupiter on December 22nd, 2017, at 0 Capricorn 17 (Jupiter at 15

Scorpio 17) (first) AND March 14, 2018, at 8 Capricorn 11 (Jupiter at 23 Scorpio 11) AND
September 3, 2018, at 2 Capricorn 33 (Jupiter at 17 Scorpio 33) (final)

Saturn trine Uranus (almost) on August 27, 2018 [both planets are retrograde and never
meet exactly, but they come very close, both at 2-3 degrees]

Saturn sextile Neptune on January 31, 2019, at 14 Capricorn 55 (first) AND on June 18,
2019, at 18 Capricorn 44, AND November 8th, 2019, at 16 Capricorn 01 (last), with Neptune
in Pisces.

Saturn opposition True North Node on April 30, 2019, at 20 Capricorn 31 (first) AND on
July 4, 2019, at 17 Capricorn 37, AND on September 28th, 2019, at 13 Capricorn 59 (last)
with True North Node of the Moon in Cancer.
Saturn conjunct Pluto on January 12, 2020, at 22 Capricorn 37 (first/last).

[Saturn also forms a quintile to Neptune July 20-September 20, 2018, and a quintile to Chiron
from March 23, 2019, to September 25, 2020]

In August 2018, Saturn almost trines Uranus. I see aspects such as these (ones that come close
to perfection but don’t form exactly) as promises of opportunity or teases – not the same as
when the aspect actually perfects. We should see some agreement between our newly
developing attitude towards our talents and resources and our professional or life path efforts
and goals, however.

Saturn’s sextile to Neptune is with us for most of 2019. Saturn’s discipline can help bring
structure or meaning to our dreams and ideals. At the same time, Neptune’s acceptance and
devotion can help bring new meaning to our work, traditions, and customs. It’s easier to find
meaning in our lives with this influence. We can feel as if our spiritual and material goals
harmonize or at least don’t get in each other’s way. Circumstances and our own attitudes
facilitate following through on our dreams or turning our visions and ideals into reality.
Combining imagination and effort is successful now. There can be a sense that our dreams are
realizable, and we can build stronger faith and acceptance. With this aspect, we feel that our
dreams/ideals and reality can work together and are not working at cross-purposes.

Saturn in Capricorn and the Signs of the Zodiac: Horoscopes

Saturn is in Capricorn from December 2017 to March 2020, and then from July 2020 to
December 2020.

In a general sense, this is how Saturn’s transit through Capricorn affects the different
Sun signs (or, more appropriately, Ascendant signs):

Saturn’s transit of Capricorn for the signs, in brief:

For Aries: You may feel driven to prove or achieve something solid. Your performance
becomes public or everyone’s business somehow.

For Taurus: You’re challenged to look at life and your future more realistically and
practically. There can be important accomplishments in publishing or education.

For Gemini: You’re challenged to tidy up those things you share with others (money,
resources, power) as well as matters of dependence and intimacy. This is a time to tackle fears
of losing control.

For Cancer: Tests and strengthening of partnerships, one-on-one relationships. Realities are
faced. Commitments are made or tested.

For Leo: You’re challenged to straighten out your daily affairs, work, routines, health, habits,
and self-care programs.

For Virgo: Creative expression, entertainment, romance, children, and hobbies are areas of
belt-tightening, realism, tests, commitments, and increased discipline.

For Libra: Home, family, personal, and nurturing or sustenance matters are areas that require
increased discipline, realism, tradition, and structure.

For Scorpio: Increased daily responsibilities or commitments. Serious study or training and
detail work, possibly decreased interactions with others, tests of ideas and studies.
For Sagittarius: A time for a more responsible and realistic approach to money and
possessions. Belt-tightening is in order and very useful. Time to declutter, reduce waste, and
make good use of your resources.

For Capricorn: A time of increased personal responsibilities, attention to detail, and efforts to
maintain and improve health and personal affairs. You are challenged to become more
efficient regarding energy levels and time management.

For Aquarius: A time of spiritual renovation, clean-up, and better attention to mental health.
You are challenged to take care of unfinished business, regroup, process, and heal. It’s
important to rid yourself of regrets or perceived failures and disappointments as a Saturn-Sun
cycle enters its last leg before coming full circle.

For Pisces: Time to clean up your social life and happiness goals. Time to either make dreams
a reality or scrap. It’s a good time to see these things more clearly, although sometimes
sternly.

Saturn’s transit of Capricorn for the signs, in detail:

Aries

Saturn rules your professional and public image or reputation sector in your
solar chart and is now transiting it.

During this cycle, your career requires critical decisions and choices. Major projects may
come to fruition, and this can be a time for reaping their rewards, although for some, there can
be a disappointment now as well if you haven’t achieved what you wanted to accomplish.
You are certainly more accountable for what you have and haven’t done at this time.

You may acquire a higher position now, and you are likely to feel the weight of increased
responsibilities that come with it. There can be issues to handle with a parent or parent figure,
or a boss/authority figure in your life.

While this period can be a tad difficult at times, particularly when Saturn forms a square to
your Sun or Ascendant, there are some dazzling spots, making it a rewarding period overall,
particularly if you focus more on long-term benefits and less on short-term frustrations.
Saturn is in a sign that it rules, Capricorn, during this period, and performs very well here as a
result. The last time Saturn moved through Capricorn was from 1988-1990. Many of you will
enjoy a career peak of sorts — this is a time of achievement, accomplishment, harvest,
recognition, and the taking on of new responsibilities. If you’ve cut corners, however, this can
be a time of dealing with those consequences and making things right.
Ironically enough, there is freedom in knowing some of our limitations, and Saturn’s transit
through the tenth house teaches you exactly what this means. By the time Saturn leaves the
house, you will have learned where you stand in the world, and how you have previously
limited your achievements. This self-evaluation then offers you the freedom to appraise where
you truly want to go in life, above and beyond your obligations or the expectations imposed
upon you.

Now is your chance to build a secure foundation in your professional and/or most public life.
Your standing in society now comes under Saturn’s scrutiny. What it is exactly that you have
been building now comes up for inspection. Some of you might be receiving recognition and
career “rewards” at this time, while others might be feeling the weight of poor decisions made
to date.

Saturn’s transit of the tenth house is an eye-opening one–a time when you are working hard,
taking on your fair share of duties and responsibilities, and either reaping some of the rewards
of your hard work or facing the consequences of poor or weak choices. You become strongly
aware of what you have and haven’t accomplished to date. You are now treated to a realistic
look at what you’ve built and what you’ve achieved. You no longer view your place in the
world, career, reputation, and standing in society with rose-colored glasses. You might
initially feel exposed, publicly scrutinized, or under fire in your career. This discomfort comes
only as a result of a sudden rush of reality, and if the discomfort is great, it is only due to the
fact that you have been holding onto false images of yourself. Your work or accomplishments
are now more visible.

Just as a mid-life crisis is experienced differently by different people, Saturn’s transit of the
tenth house holds different meanings for different people.

As Saturn progresses through the house, you begin to feel more secure in your ambitions.

At some point during Saturn’s movement through Capricorn, Saturn will be transiting square
your Sun (or Ascendant). During this time, you may experience some form of disillusionment
with regards to an important person in your life, with an authority figure, or with your
personal plans and objectives. You may feel “left out”, blocked from advancing in your
chosen life path, and lacking in energy and confidence. Ego boosts don’t seem to be
forthcoming, or if they are, you don’t see them in such a light. Some sort of buckling down is
necessary at this time, and you might perceive limitations as coming from other people or
from “unlucky” circumstances. Financial blocks are quite possible at this time, especially if
the Sun is associated with the second or eighth house. Physically, this may be a rather low
period when you don’t have that extra “oomph” or drive to accomplish more than what is
already on your plate. You might be looking at your physical body in a more realistic manner,
although you might also be focusing on the flaws too heavily. You might also be questioning
your own worth, again finding many flaws that you may have previously glossed over.
However, you can choose to get to work on making improvements. Improvements will not
come overnight, but a slow and steady approach will bring rewards later. A general feeling of
“slowdown” is likely, and if regular tasks seem more overwhelming than usual, it is likely due
to poor spirits and lack of motivation. Sometimes, this transit is associated with problems with
the teeth, bones in general, and the skin. It is also associated with mechanical breakdowns in
your life. Saturn calls upon you to identify the weaker areas of your life and to fix or
strengthen them.

Once beyond the square, you’ve likely fixed a number of small problems that get you back on
track. Pressures tend to dissipate. You might thoroughly enjoy your work and projects.
Building something long-lasting and practical makes sense now. In many ways, you’re likely
to feel more “in the know” and realistic as well as on top of your game.

This period can be likened on a symbolic level to the transition to adulthood and the
acceptance of responsibilities, some level of distancing from others as you get yourself
together.

When Saturn forms a sextile to Neptune through most of 2019, projects that you have been
working on behind the scenes or that you’ve left unfinished might come to fruition, or you
could be using them to further your career. Your career might involve more altruistic goals or
helping others could figure strongly. The Saturn-Pluto alignment in 2020 may involve hard
work at remodeling and renovating your career and goals.

Taurus

Saturn rules your attitudes, beliefs, and adventure sector in your solar
chart, and with Saturn in Capricorn, it arrives back in its “home.” This
transit is about critical attention to and the firming up of your knowledge, belief systems,
training, and legal issues. Self-improvement is what this Saturn cycle is about in your life.
You are developing your ideals and your commitments as transiting Saturn makes its way
through your solar ninth house.

Ideals and spiritual goals that you may have accepted without much thought or worked with
for many years might suddenly seem superficial or not particularly useful anymore. Perhaps
your faith is tested in some way, and you begin to feel more skeptical of some of your most
basic assumptions about life itself.

The areas of your life that require a “back to basics” approach in your life are higher learning,
belief systems, travel, and adventurous experiences. There may be tests of sorts in these areas
of life as if the universe is checking that their foundations are strong. Those things built on
weak foundations may very well crack under the pressure of these tests. Those that are strong,
however, will endure and strengthen further.

Some of you might begin new studies as you subconsciously prepare for Saturn’s next house
transit (after this transit, Saturn will come to the peak of your solar chart). If you’re in the
process of studying, you might begin questioning what it is exactly that you are working
towards, or the usefulness of your course of study. Does this line of study match your true
self? Will it truly benefit you? Many Taureans will examine their attitudes, assumptions about
life, and faith. The ninth house has much to do with our outlook, our personal philosophy, our
sense of adventure, and our confidence. It’s also associated with our faith, hope, and vision.
Its connection to higher learning and travel could mean there are restrictions or re-evaluations
of these things, but for many of you, it is more about taking a closer look at, and re-assessing,
your attitude or general outlook on life, your faith or vision, and your bravery or confidence
for embarking on new adventures – for venturing forth beyond the boundaries of your
everyday existence.

In the initial stages of the transit, you may feel a little somber, skeptical, or disillusioned. The
faith or optimism that may have carried you to date comes up for inspection. Are your belief
systems sound? What do you stand for? What kind of future are you working towards, and
why? The spirit that drives you and motivates you to move out and beyond the everyday grind
is now tested or questioned. By the end of the transit, you will have ideally discovered what it
is that truly and honestly offers you hope and optimism as well as that which fuels your drive.
This is a time for rebuilding your faith in yourself and your beliefs through attachment to
ideals and goals that authentically represent you. A shaky feeling that causes you to sputter
and avoid risks will be replaced with a more mature attitude towards adventure and facing the
unknown. With this transit, you are learning to let go of self-defeating attitudes and belief
systems that have been holding you back, you’re recognizing exactly where you have been
overdoing your expectations, and you’re finding new, more rewarding, and more honest-to-
yourself ways to nurture faith, hope, and vision. The aim is for truth and wisdom, not only
facts, information, and knowledge.

At some point during Saturn’s stay in Capricorn, Saturn will form a trine to your Sun (or
Ascendant). The exact time depends on your Sun or Ascendant’s degree of Taurus. During
this trine, you feel more comfortable with who you are. Because you have a more mature
grasp of our own capabilities, you project a more responsible, perhaps serious, and self-
assured personality to others. You are especially open to receiving grounded, practical advice,
and benefit from humbly learning from others. Your life seems more stable during this time
period, likely because you are able to look at yourself in a realistic and reasonable manner,
and because you are less vulnerable to self-delusion. One of the major sources of stress and
guilt in our lives stems from uncertainty. A tremendous amount of stress is generated
from overestimating our capabilities and responsibilities, and inevitably failing to meet them.
Things nag at the back of our minds. Saturn offers us realism, and with his trine to your Sun,
you see yourself and your capabilities more clearly and realistically. This transit tends to
reduce uncertainty and offers a welcome reprieve from feelings of guilt and fear. At this time
in your life, you know what your responsibilities are, and you meet them.

This influence will be with you until December 2020. In 2018, it’s only affecting 1 to 11
degrees of Taurus Ascendant and Taurus Sun.
Tests can come to your belief system or learning endeavors during this cycle. The need for
reliable, solid, practical training can become very apparent now. You might scrutinize the
belief system that you have held to date, and question your faith – in others, in yourself, and
in life itself. You are seeking out practical and workable solutions to problems.

You might find that your ability to leisure-travel or engage in higher learning is limited during
this period, for whatever reason. Travel may be for business purposes only. You may not be
as adventurous, preferring to stick around home and your neighborhood, or perhaps for some,
stuck there. This can also be a period of teaching others what you have learned.

Overall, this is a more stable, predictable, and practical time for you. You’re likely to enjoy a
steadier pace now. This transit encourages you to build something slowly and carefully — an
approach that is most satisfying for you as a Taurus. This is also a valuable time for the
learning and study of practical skills and brushing up on your knowledge. With Saturn here,
you’re challenged to look at life and your future more realistically and practically. There can
be important accomplishments in publishing or education for many of you.

You have a great need to make productive use of your time, especially concerning learning
endeavors and long-term goals. You might recognize the need to concentrate, focus, and
specialize now, and this is a period for adding more structure to your life by setting reasonable
but definite goals.

The term of this transit is one of greater realism and practicality. You feel more capable of
meeting your responsibilities. Life feels robust and stable, and the benefits of this influence
are likely to be felt most strongly when Saturn officially forms a trine to your Sun or
Ascendant. Now and until December 2020, you are likely to enjoy many opportunities to set
your life in order. Saturn is in very good shape, transiting in harmony to your sign and also
transiting the area of your solar chart that it rules.

In 2019, you’re in excellent shape for meeting friends through studies or bonding with others
through publishing, writing, sharing ideas, and beliefs. Your belief system or personal
philosophy may go through a transformation, particularly in 2020 when Saturn and Pluto
align in this sector. It’s a time for seeing things very differently, and perhaps a little more
seriously.

Gemini

Saturn rules the sector of your solar chart that rules intimacy, sharing, and
shared finances, or money and property that comes from a source other than
your own personal income. There may be tests of sorts in these areas of life while Saturn
transits its own area from December 19th, 2017, until 2020, as if the universe is checking that
the foundations are strong. Things built on weak foundations may very well crack under the
pressure of these tests. Those that are strong will endure and strengthen.
This influence can be felt most strongly earlier or later in the cycle, depending on whether
you were born earlier or later in the sign of Gemini. This year, those born in the first eleven
days of Gemini, and those with a Gemini Ascendant of 0-11 degrees are most affected.

Tests can come to your financial and intimate worlds during this cycle. You may be dealing
with fears of surrendering yourself, emotionally or financially, to others. Support from others
may not be as forthcoming as it has been in the past. For example, a partner’s income may be
reduced, or another form of financial support may be taken away or decreased during this
period. This requires you to assume more independence in terms of making a living.

Emotionally, there can be a feeling that others are not as supportive. There can be delays or
difficulties in general when it comes to getting what you want or need from others. Intimacy
may seem to dry up before it gets better, but it does get better!

It’s a strong time for handling financial matters, especially debts and taxes, in a logical and
realistic manner. These are unlikely to be drastic changes, but rather more along the lines of
slow but sure progress, little by little.

While this period can be a tad difficult at times, particularly when Saturn forms a quincunx to
your Sun or Ascendant, there are some dazzling spots, making it a rewarding period overall,
particularly if you focus more on long-term benefits and less on short-term frustrations.
Saturn occupies a sign that it rules, Capricorn, during this period, and performs very well here
as a result. The last time Saturn moved through Capricorn was from 1988-1990.

How do you handle power? Your desire nature? Intimate relationships? What kind of
obsessions and addictions do you have? What are your deep-rooted compulsions? What are
your unhealthy attachments? With Saturn transiting your eighth house, you are aiming to
answer these questions truthfully and honestly. At the beginning of the transit, you may be
especially sensitive to what seems like outer world pressures that force you to examine and
question some of your deepest desires and attachments. These include your sexual
relationships, your finances (especially with regards to debts, obligations, and shared
finances), and your need for control.

Sometimes, Saturn transiting the eighth highlights sexual dysfunctions or waning

desires/boredom, whether we encounter these in ourselves or in our partners. We may face
difficulties satisfying our libido and/or encounter problems with intimacy. These pressures are
“designed” to make us more aware of our desire nature, and what exactly it is we want.
Dissatisfaction and frustrations getting what you want, especially with reference to
relationships with others and with your financial resources, may be felt now. Support from
others may be lacking in some manner, and this can be felt on intimate and/or financial levels.

While Saturn transited/transits Sagittarius from December 23, 2014, to June 14, 2015; and
then from September 17, 2015, to December 19, 2017, many of you have made a commitment
to a relationship, and/or left a long-term partnership behind. Now with Saturn in Capricorn,
you may be facing the challenges of a long-term partnership, including sharing finances,
power dynamics, and sexual routine, or facing the challenges of living your life without a
partner and getting your needs met.

You may find that previous methods of controlling your environment and the people in your
lives simply are not effective anymore. You may not even be aware of how you have been
employing power and control to date. Now is the time to get in touch with yourself and
motivations.

Another realm over which the eighth house reigns is our mortality. With Saturn here, we
become much more aware of our mortality. Just as Saturn transits to our Sun or Ascendant
make us more conscious of our age, Saturn transiting the eighth house often brings with it a
realization that our time will one day come. Of course, we know this as a fact at the back of
our minds, but Saturn has a way of bringing this more strongly to our attention.

It’s a good time to organize your finances. If you don’t, Saturn will most likely find ways to
get you to do just that. For example, there may be a loss of one form of income, or insecurity
about same. Financial obligations to others might feel especially burdensome now. In some
cases, a partner is dealing with financial issues. For other Geminis, you may be supporting
others and this feels too constricting or too much. It’s not an ideal transit under which to ask
for help or support. It’s a good time to consolidate debts and work on a plan to reduce debt.

Dealing with deep-seated fears, anger, and resentment may be necessary and very healthy and
purging during this cycle. You might face some of your fears that are of a compulsive nature–
those fears that lead you to believe that you need certain things in order to survive. Take a
small example of a superstition. Perhaps we perform some kind of small ritual that we feel
will help protect us or give us good luck. If we do it often enough, it becomes an addiction.
We are afraid that if we don’t do this little ritual, we will set ourselves up for bad luck. If we
get rid of this superstition, we feel stronger. Something as simple as a superstition or ritual for
good luck can undermine us. Why? Because we are giving away our power over ourselves to
this compulsive behavior. We are denying that we have power over our own lives. The same
is true of any form of compulsive behavior and addiction. We attempt to control our lives
through these behaviors, but what we are really doing is letting the addictions control us.
When we give in to compulsive behaviors, we give up self-control, and guilt undermines our
lives. We are not ourselves. By attempting to control others, we give away our own power.
Towards the end of the transit, you may have eliminated some deep-seated habits and
attachments that have been preventing you from feeling emotionally free. You emerge
healthier and stronger. You may have put some of your addictions and superstitions behind
you. You might feel more powerful because you have given up attempting to control things
you cannot or should not control, and you will have gained a healthy feeling of self-mastery.

Bonds are tight and may feel constricting, but filling your duties to others can be ultimately
satisfying. In some cases, others’ demands are unreasonable, and you may face this fact now.
However, in many cases, you may recognize where you can bend and accommodate, and this
is humbling. You may need to define boundaries more clearly in your relationships if sharing
of power, time, money, and resources feels very off, and it often does during this transit.

Cancer

Saturn is now transiting your solar seventh house, dear Cancer. Saturn’s transit
of this house lasts from December 19/20, 2017, to 2020. This puts Saturn
opposite your sign, and significant relationships with others as well as the mirror of your own
personality provided through your relationships with others are the focus.

Saturn motivates us to do “spring cleaning” in the areas of life this realistic planet touches,
and one-to-one relationships will need to be considered and understood during this transit.
Relationship tests are likely. Saturn looks for any weak links and exposes them – they become
obvious and even glaring. You may have to let go of relationships built on weak foundations,
or work on strengthening them.

This is a cycle in which you need to define, understand, and crystallize your significant
relationships with others. If you already have a partner, this is a time when any problems
surrounding compromise, flexibility, and the ability to give your heart to your partner will
surface. Initial frustration can take the form of feeling criticized and “examined” in this area
of life. By the end of the transit, however, you will have learned much about commitment and
compromise. The amount of satisfaction you are deriving from your relationship, the quality
of the relationship itself, and how you view your partner are all things that are under the
microscope now. Disillusionment is a possibility, as you are beginning to see your
relationship without rose-colored glasses now. I am tempted to say you are now seeing your
relationship for what it is, which is true in a sense but do remember that flaws are very much
in focus, and your perspective may be skewed a little towards the negative before you reach a
more balanced and realistic perspective.

For those of you who are single, the initial pressures of Saturn transiting the seventh house
can stimulate a feeling of loneliness. You might feel a void in your life now and ache for a
true equal in a partner. Although this is possible in either situation (whether you have a
significant partnership or not), instead of an issue of re-committing, you will be examining
your need for partnership. If involved in a casual love relationship, when Saturn transits the
seventh, you might feel an urge (or pressure) to make a commitment or a re-definition of your
bond.

Healthy partnerships can be the outcome, whether they are new ones or strengthened existing
partnerships. Saturn always brings with him a fair measure of reality and objectivity, so that
existing relationships may be defined and re-defined. Relationships are seen now as serious
matters, perhaps a little too much so at times. Partners are no longer “fun and games” or
simply mirrors of your ego. Responsibilities to partners, the need to compromise, and the
realities of the needs of others, become clear. You are forced to see people as separate
individuals and to improve the manner in which you relate to and with others. Some of you
will be leaving partnerships behind, and others will be making a commitment. Those of you
who are not interested in partnering may solidify this position.

Depending on your age and life circumstances, “significant partnerships” can mean
partnerships with loved ones, business partnerships, and even deep friendships. You might
begin to view casual friendships as superficial and unsatisfying, and want more. Essentially,
quantity (in the relationship department) is replaced with quality, and this process involves
time, soul-searching, frustration, and, ideally, eventual fulfillment.

Saturn’s opposition to your sign does put some pressure on you. It’s a very useful transit for
better understanding your relationships and partnering needs. Along the way, you may face
some tests to a current relationship’s strength. This transit can also stimulate a stronger desire
for long-term, real connections, or it may bring a more mature or serious partner into your
life. You are more selective when it comes to your close associations. It’s true that problem
areas in a relationship may be magnified or illuminated in the beginning stages of this transit,
and while flaws can appear bigger than they objectively are, eventually you’re likely to get to
the point of increased clarity. Decisions are easier when you can see people and things for
both their strengths and weaknesses, so aim for this sweet spot. Once beyond the exaggerated
stage of realizations, you’ll be in an excellent position to reassess your needs from your
relationships.

During Saturn’s transit, you may find relationships or life’s situations a little more demanding
than usual, and it makes sense to take better care of your health, particularly seeing to getting
regular sleep and proper nutrition.

You might also find less time for socializing during this cycle, perhaps due to relationship
stresses, but also because you are more serious than usual about your interpersonal
relationships and have a hard time swallowing superficiality.

As this transit progresses, you are likely to discover your true needs from partnerships, as well
as what you can realistically give to a partner.

At some point while Saturn moves through the sign of Capricorn, Saturn will oppose your
Sun (or Ascendant). You might encounter opposition or resistance to your personal plans and
goals, which forces you to re-evaluate your current projects or commitments. Some of these
need to be left behind. A maturation process is now in progress, and although this might not
be immediately clear, changes you make now will make your life simpler, easier, and
healthier later on.

During this cycle, be sure to identify and “own” the role that you play in your relationships.
Face complex emotions in your relationships without glossing them over or dismissing them
as “not your problem.” You may be seeing another person as the “heavy”, when in fact your
own needs are also transforming. You are likely seeing the unflattering side of a partner, and
also of yourself as you manage your feelings. Be fearless when facing the roots of any
problems that emerge now.

The areas of your life that require a back to basics, no-nonsense approach are associated with
the sector of your solar chart that rules close personal relationships, such as marriages and
other committed partnerships, long-term associations, open enemies, negotiations,
agreements, and contracts. There may be tests of sorts in these areas of life, as if the universe
is checking that the foundations are strong. Things built on weak foundations may very well
crack under the pressure of these tests. Those that are strong will endure and strengthen.

Some of you might be attracted to older or more mature and established people as partnership
“material.” This can be a make or break period for many of you. If you decide to make a
commitment to someone, it’s likely to be a long one. Some areas of your life may seem to be
breaking down before they get better. There can also be bone and teeth problems – something
that often happens with hard Saturn transits. Tidy and organize your life as much as possible
in order to minimize the challenges.

The last time Saturn transited this area of your solar chart was from 1988-1990. Saturn does
very well in this sector of your chart because Saturn is the natural ruler of your solar
partnership sector. The long-term benefits can be great.

Leo

Saturn encourages you to build some boundaries, restrict, or discipline yourself,

and Saturn is now transiting your solar sixth house until 2020, dear Leo. You’re
challenged to straighten out your daily affairs, work, routines, health, habits, and
self-care programs during this useful cycle. Aim to make changes in these areas of life slowly,
responsibly, and conservatively — Saturn-style! The goal now is to make improvements that
last years, if not a lifetime. Aim to work hard and do what you can, without pushing yourself
too hard. Saturn wants you to work smarter, not necessarily harder. This is a time for
adopting a no-nonsense approach to work and health.

While Saturn transited Sagittarius, your romantic relationships, as well as relationships with
your children if appropriate, may have been put to the test. You’ve made significant changes
to these relationships, left behind a romance, or strengthened your stance on how you derive
pleasure from your life. You’ve settled in. This happened because Saturn was moving through
your solar fifth house.

Now Saturn turns its critical eye to matters of the sixth house, and you are likely to feel a
certain level of pressure in the areas of work, daily functions, habits, and health.
At the beginning of the transit, you might be more accountable than ever when it comes to
your work. You may initially feel bogged down by what seems like undue pressure in your
routines or everyday life. However, Saturn brings pressure that is never truly undue. In fact,
Saturn knows better than us and does know when something is due. Things we may have
previously neglected or disregarded need to be faced, managed, and handled responsibly.

How can you make the best use of your time? How can you manage your day-to-day life, and
your body, more effectively? These are questions that demand answers now. Saturn pressures
here make you acutely aware of all of the “fluff” that you have surrounding your daily
routines and your work. Spring cleaning is now in order!

This is an excellent time for starting new regimens to better your health and well-being, such
as regular exercise, more structured and productive use of your time, and so forth. Organizing
your workspace is appropriate, and so is re-organizing your daily schedule. In fact, you might
be faced with life events that force you to restructure these things, or at least provide you with
the motivation to get your act together.

The sixth house is a house of service, and while the work we do may sometimes feel too
routine or boring, it can also give us a strong feeling of purpose. We want to be needed, we
want to help and support others, and to do our share. If you’ve been scattering your energies
and haven’t truly noted and acknowledged just how much you do, then Saturn here will
stimulate you to tidy up. In the end, you can, in fact, feel more joyful about the services you
provide and the support you give, after taking a realistic look at these things and making the
necessary adjustments.

Saturn moving through your health sector might concern you. However, typically if health
concerns manifest during this transit, they are manageable with some reorganization and
structure. They signal the need for change in diet, routines, and habits. By the end of the
transit, you will have learned, ideally, to be more productive and efficient, to live in a
healthier manner, and to be considerably more focused.

You might also enjoy increased motivation and determination to kick bad habits and routines.

Until 2020, the areas of your life that require a “back to basics” or no-nonsense approach are
associated with the sector of your solar chart that governs work, health, daily routines,
employees, pets, and habits. There may be tests of sorts in these areas of life, as if the
universe is checking that the foundations are strong. Things built on weak foundations may
crack under the pressure of these tests. Those that are strong will endure and strengthen.
Responsibilities in your daily life can weigh heavily – they appear magnified. Do be sure that
you are tending to your responsibilities, and not letting them pile up.

For those of you unhappy with your job or out of work, you are not likely to jump to grab just
any position now. You are looking for something mature, long-term, and reflective of your
values. Because you are more discriminating now, the pickings might seem to be slim. There
can be confusion about where you are headed, ultimately, in your professional life.
Saturn does particularly well in this sector of your chart simply because it’s the ruler of
Capricorn, and Capricorn rules your sector of work, health, and habits. You understand and
welcome the structuring energy of this transit on your daily routines. The last time Saturn
transited here was from 1988-1990.

Virgo

With Saturn, the realist, moving through the house of creative power in your chart,
you might initially feel limited by a seeming lack of internal “spark” or “spunk”,
dear Virgo. As the transit progresses, you will gain a stronger sense of what motivates you,
and how to best express yourself creatively in more effective and perhaps practical ways.
How you entertain yourself, how you have fun, and issues surrounding how you manage your
ego are now coming up for “inspection.” By the end of the transit, ideally you will have a
stronger sense of purpose, and a re-worked ego.

What makes you unique? How do you handle pride? What are your creative talents? Have you
worked hard enough to feel good about “playing hard”? These are issues you will face during
the course of this transit. By the time Saturn enters the sixth house in 2020, you should have a
solid sense of what makes you different than others, and a realistic and concrete belief in your
own creative talents.

Many people go through a period of re-evaluation of their talents with this transit–how they
may have wasted them to date, and how they can express themselves in a more practical,
useful manner. Some of you might be turning your hobbies and pastimes into businesses or
working more diligently and regularly on your creative pursuits.

The fifth house where Saturn is now transiting in your solar chart is also associated with love
and attention received from others, as well as romantic relationships or our more casual love
affairs. Psychological issues you may face during this time include how “deserving” you are
of special attention from others. Initially, you may feel unloved or question your lovability,
and perhaps you may feel somewhat neglected or ignored. As you learn the lessons of this
transit, you learn to love yourself and take pride in yourself in realistic, honest, and genuine
ways. Looking outside of yourself for “ego strokes” (whether through romance or other such
“applause”) may prove to be fruitless. You will learn through the course of this transit to
depend on yourself and to take pride in yourself for what you really are, not only how others
see you. You will be less dependent on others for applause and ego stroking — this is one of
the helpful lessons of Saturn’s transit of this area of your chart.

Romantic relationships might be tested during this time. You might feel overwhelming
pressure coming from your casual love affairs, for example, or the flaws in an existing
romance seem to be screaming out at you. For some of you, a romance might end. If it does,
it’s likely because it truly didn’t fulfill you and, essentially, had to go. For others, a romantic
relationship is strengthened after undergoing some tests and adjustments. What you want from
a romance, as well as what you are realistically capable of giving back to a romantic
relationship, will be clear towards the end of this transit. Saturn has a “make or break” energy
to it.

The fifth house also rules your children, and more specifically, your first child. Some of you
might be welcoming a first child and dealing with the time constraints and increased
responsibilities associated with this new set-up. Others might be encountering difficulties with
discipline or increased demands from children. The need for more discipline and organization
when it comes to managing children may be in order now. Commitment or re-commitment to
time spent with and for children can be a theme if appropriate.

For those of you who are single and looking, there can be some reluctance to enter into light-
hearted romantic relationships. If you do, you do so cautiously, and you are attracted to more
mature or stable people during this cycle. Because you are more discriminating now, the
pickings might appear to be slim. Be careful that you don’t project a negative attitude without
even realizing it, as this can intimidate some.

Those of you who are dating might feel some loneliness, as it can be hard to find what you are
looking for at this time. An existing romance may be tested but strong ones strengthen further.
Those Virgos who are in committed partnerships could find the romantic or fun element of the
relationship becomes a strong area of focus during this cycle, for better or for worse. Keeping
this aspect of your partnership alive requires work. A romantic partner could feel like a
“heavy” at this time, and you might feel restricted in terms of making acquaintances and
enjoying other people’s company.

You can be filled with desire, or circumstances create a need, for more structure in all of these
areas of life, including children, romance, creativity, and recreation. This can be a truly
wonderful time for feeling balanced and steady. Firming up areas of your life that have
become wasteful can benefit you in many ways. The last time Saturn was in Capricorn was
from 1988-1990. Saturn does very well in Capricorn as it rules the sign. This can be a good
time for realizing a dream or goal, particularly along creative lines.

Interestingly, Saturn rules this sector of your solar chart so that you understand these themes
and energy on a very basic level. It feels more comfortable to you in these areas of life. It may
be that you are already quite conservative when it comes to expressing yourself creatively,
having fun, dating, and so forth, and Saturn’s arrival here feels just right, helping you to
reconnect with your basic nature.

At some point during Saturn’s stay in Capricorn, Saturn will form a trine to your Sun (or
Ascendant). During this trine which can last a month or closer to a year depending on when it
occurs vis-a-vis Saturn’s retrograde, you feel more comfortable with who you are. Because
you have a more mature grasp of our own capabilities, you project a more responsible,
perhaps serious, and self-assured personality to others. You may be more open to receiving
grounded, practical advice, and benefit from humbly learning from others. Your life seems
more stable during this time period, likely because you are able to look at yourself in a
realistic and reasonable manner, and because you are less vulnerable to self-delusion. One of
the major sources of stress and guilt in our lives stems from uncertainty. Unnecessary stress
comes from overestimating our capabilities or standards and inevitably failing to meet them.
Things nag at the back of our minds. Saturn offers us realism, and with his trine to your Sun,
you see yourself and your capabilities more clearly and realistically. This transit tends to
reduce uncertainty and offers a welcome reprieve from feelings of guilt and fear. At this time
in your life, you know what your responsibilities are–and you meet them. While Saturn is in
Capricorn, both you and Taurus (fellow Earth sign) receive a trine from Saturn.

Libra

Saturn’s transit through Capricorn from December 2017 to 2020 is bound to be a

significant cycle for you, dear Libra. It marks a time of considerable inner “re-
working.” In terms of outward signs of achievement, this transit may be one of the most
unremarkable of all the Saturn transits. However, near the end of the transit, you’re likely to
recognize this stage as a critical one in which you made some life-changing personal and
psychological advances and developments.

During this cycle, you are working on solidifying your identity–exploring your roots (where
you came from)–so that when Saturn begins its transit through your solar fifth house years
down the road (in 2020), you will be ready to differentiate yourself from others and embark
on some important work on your ego. For now, however, you face issues surrounding your
attachments to the past as well as to your base of operations, home, and family. Sometimes
this manifests as literal re-organization of your home. If moves are made, you might
encounter some resistance in yourself to make that change. The desire may be to strengthen,
build, or rebuild now.

This is not a time when you feel particularly brave in the outer world. However,
reorganization in your home, and more importantly, in your soul, embodies the true nature of
this transit. Many will go through a major “spring cleaning” on an emotional plane.
Limitations that came from early family conditioning are more recognizable. Responsibilities
to family and to maintaining your home might increase, or more likely, you become more
aware of them and how they affect your life. It’s possible that you now view these
responsibilities as obligations or as burdensome, or you simply feel their weight more than
you did before.

A feeling of being alone and unsupported in life may dominate the early stages of this transit.
There may be some delays and slowdowns experienced in the areas of health, mobility, and
career. As Saturn progresses, however, a feeling of some kind of mastery will empower you.
This is a strong period for re-organizing and restructuring your home life. The goal should be
to build your sense of family, security, and comfort, and it’s a truly fabulous time to do so.
This is the time to fix whatever it is that you have let slide in the past. At the end of this cycle,
you’ll have built a stronger foundation. You’ll see yourself and your family more clearly, and
your expectations will be more realistic as a result.

Saturn performs very well in this sector of your chart because Capricorn is associated with
your solar fourth house and is one of the signs that Saturn rules. You understand this energy
implicitly, so this transit feels more natural to you than most. The last time Saturn transited
here was from 1988-1990.

At some point during Saturn’s movement through Capricorn, Saturn will be transiting square
your Sun (or Ascendant). While Saturn is in Capricorn, the square transit will occur for both
you and Aries. During this time, you may experience some form of disillusionment with
regards to an important person in your life, with an authority figure, or regarding plans that
are met with some form of resistance. You may feel “left out,” blocked from advancing in
your chosen life path and lacking in energy and confidence. Ego boosts don’t seem to be
forthcoming, or if they are, you don’t see them in such a light. Some sort of buckling down is
necessary at this time, and you might perceive limitations as coming from other people or
from “unlucky” circumstances. Physically, this may be a rather low period when you don’t
have that extra “oomph” or drive to accomplish more than what is already on your plate. You
might be looking at your physical body in a more realistic manner, although you might also be
focusing on the flaws too heavily. You might also be questioning your own worth, again
finding many flaws that you may have previously glossed over. Instead of bemoaning the way
you’ve lived your life to date, get to work on making improvements.
It is also associated with mechanical breakdowns in
your life. However, these generally happen because you haven’t been managing your life
effectively, and Saturn calls upon you to identify the weaker areas of your life, and to fix or
strengthen them.

Particularly for Libra Ascendants, this can be an important time for new career beginnings.
You may be laying the groundwork and building a long-term project that eventually has much
significance in your life. Think of this time as a period ideal for making repairs and
renovations.

Scorpio

Saturn in Capricorn moves Saturn into your solar third house, dear Scorpio.
In this transit that lasts until 2020, Saturn is overseeing and inspecting how
you network with people around you and how you gain and disseminate information. This can
be a time of pressure that centers around your skills set, mental output, and communication.
You may feel pressure to produce ideas, as well as to make them work, but this can lead to
much more efficient time management.

A certain somberness in your outlook may be characteristic of this phase, and there can be
times when you worry more than usual. It may seem like acquaintances and sometimes
siblings are blocking your growth in some manner, and these relationships may be strained as
a result. Although you may have a desire to make contacts, you are now rather preoccupied
with learning or increased errands and daily “busy-ness” and you may view idle chit-chat as a
waste of precious time or simply a lesser priority. Others might find you a tad distant or
simply not as available as you used to be. Some shyness or stiffness is possible in your daily
interactions.

You may feel an unusual pressure to structure your time and effort, and to cut out
communication that seems unnecessary. You may at times feel rather overwhelmed by such
things as errands, red tape, paperwork, and other such day-to-day “disruptions”. As Saturn
moves closer to your fourth house, there may be some vague feeling of urgency and worry, as
if you sense some things in your life are closing, and they may very well be. By the end of the
transit, however, you will have ideally gained a greater depth of understanding, having
focused on information and communication that you really can use to feel more effective in
the world.

Positively, you are more able to come across as an authority in the work that you do, or in
your communications. In fact, there are many positives that ultimately outweigh the
downsides. This is a good time for organized learning in the form of taking courses and
finding solid and useful ways to improve your skills. Lack of skills or proper training may be
something you’re focusing on during this transit with an eye on filling the gaps and
strengthening your position. You might also feel that you are not as effective in your
communications, and it’s a good idea to find new ways to improve your communications
skills.

If you are involved in courses or other training programs, you might feel unsatisfied, and you
might desire more depth or stimulation. There can be issues with mobility and transportation
during this transit, and mechanical breakdowns can present challenges. Again, Saturn exposes
areas of weakness and provides you with the tools to strengthen them.

This is a time of increased practicality and esteem. You are more reliable than usual and you
procrastinate less. Teaching can be in strong focus. There can be a greater love of the less
glamorous aspects of your work, studies, and projects, and you are capable of tremendous
effort to further your goals. During this cycle, Saturn is in one of the signs that it rules
(Capricorn) and performs very well in this position. This gives more power to your
communications sector – you are functioning in your own terms. You understand the need to
structure and organize your daily affairs and communications implicitly. The last time Saturn
transited here was from 1988-1990 – this transit doesn’t happen often!
At some point during Saturn’s stay in the sign of Capricorn, he forms a harmonious sextile to
your Sun (or Ascendant). Strengthened relationships with authority figures or older people in
your life may play a supportive role in your life now, largely due to your own humbler
attitude. The work you do and the responsibilities you take on provide you with a solid sense
of purpose. Because you have a more mature grasp of our own capabilities, you project a
more responsible, perhaps serious, and self-assured personality to others. You look at yourself
realistically and reasonably, and you are less vulnerable to self-delusion, which ultimately
strengthens your confidence. One of the major sources of stress and guilt in our lives stems
from uncertainty. We might want to stop to think about how much stress comes
from overestimating our capabilities and responsibilities, and inevitably failing to meet them.
Things nag at the back of our minds. Saturn offers us realism, and with his sextile to your
Sun, you see yourself and your capabilities more clearly and realistically. At this time in your
life, you know what your responsibilities are, and you meet them.

Sagittarius

Saturn leaving your sign does take some pressure off your life, dear Sagittarius.
Saturn will not return to your sign for another 28-30 years, in fact. You are likely
to feel freer in self-expression, and certainly more mature than you were before
Saturn’s movement through Sagittarius.

While a certain level of introspection marked the Saturn transit of your sign or Ascendant
sign, Saturn’s movement into Capricorn and your solar second house marks a new stage of
taking stock of your effectiveness, self-worth, and finances. This stage of your life, lasting
until 2020, is a practical one. Financial success may not be remarkable. It is generally steady,
if slow to come by.

This transit is sometimes associated with financial loss, but in truth, it is more about our
perceptions–you are apt to review how effective you have been on a financial level to date
and find some dissatisfaction with your progress. In fact, gains may be slow, but sudden
reversals are not common with this transit. The purpose of this transit is for you to make the
connection between your own feelings of self-worth and what you produce in the real
world/get back from the real world.

As with all Saturn transits, at the outset, you might reach out and look for validation from the
outside world and from others, and find something lacking in so doing. The initial sense of
feeling unsupported can be discouraging (many of us think on the lines of: “I work so hard,
and what do I get for all this hard work?”), but as the transit progresses, you learn to look
inside of yourself with a newfound clarity and realism, and ideally draw up considerable
strength from within. You work on your effectiveness in the world, and see exactly what has
been holding you back from achieving the results you want. The challenge here is to capture
the newly found and defined self-confidence you gained from the first house transit, and now
apply it in the real world. You are worth something, and you deserve compensation for what
you do. While you may not feel it right away, you are working towards a more responsible
attitude towards making a living, feeling secure, and feeling worthy.

Use this transit for getting yourself onto solid financial ground. Make budgets, examine the
ways you spend money, and eliminate wasteful practices and attitudes. If you’ve been living
on credit (borrowing from your future), Saturn will make it known in some way that this
attitude is unhealthy, and these habits need to change. It’s time to be more conservative with
your money, and feel more accomplished in so doing. You might find creative ways of
making do with less. Look for overlapping or unnecessary expenses and other redundancies,
and aim to rid yourself of material clutter.

The second house rules income derived from your own efforts, and this excludes shared
finances and financial support through debts and rebates. It also rules personal possessions,
self-esteem, personal talents, and personal values. There may be tests of sorts in these areas of
life, as if the universe is checking that the foundations are strong. Things built on weak
foundations may very well crack under the pressure of these tests. Those that are strong will
endure and strengthen. You may be necessarily more cautious about entering into heavy
financial commitments during this period, and more cautious in general with spending.
Worries can surface about your earning power, but as you progress, the ideal end result will
be a stronger sense of what you are capable of earning, better spending and saving habits, and
a more realistic budget. Cutting back on some luxuries may be in order, but you may just
discover that the security you gain is more important than the luxuries you’ve let go.

Saturn performs very well in Capricorn, and this should be a rewarding cycle for coming to a
better position regarding the management of your material resources. You are exceptionally
security-minded at this time and you can begin or step up savings plans. Any innate
organizational and budgeting traits you possess are highlighted now. Your natural talents can
contribute more to your personal income than previously. The last time this transit occurred
was some time ago – from 1988-1990.

Capricorn

Saturn is transiting your all-important first house/your sign, dear Capricorn,

until 2020. The first house rules our personal identity. During this transit, you
concern yourself with how you come across to others on a personal level. Your physical body
becomes a focus as well. It may be a time when you feel the weight of your age, or when you
see your body quite clearly instead of seeing what you want to see. As a result, it’s an
excellent time for beginning health regimens, diets, and the like.
Your outlook on life changes as you adopt a more serious, mature, and responsible attitude. In
the beginning stages of the transit, you may feel some lacking in self-confidence and possibly
some frustration with yourself. You might reach out to others in an attempt to validate
yourself, looking for ways to boost your confidence. When these attempts fail, you may feel
temporarily let down and discouraged. Rest assured that Saturn will re-work these feelings,
with your help of course, until you reach a point (as Saturn moves through the
house/Capricorn) when you have a stronger sense of self. This transit acts to transform your
self-confidence in such a way that you question the source of your confidence to date, and
discover a more solid base for pulling up inner strength and thus true confidence. Saturn here
acts to rip away the superficial. Illusions about the self, the body, and personal abilities will
no longer be entertained. You may no longer be comfortable with any superficial mannerisms
that may have carried you to date. You might decide to slim down or simplify your approach
to the world, and, for some, perhaps slim down your body as well! The end result is a
newfound or redefined identity and a realistic understanding of yourself.

In terms of career and projects, outward signs of progress may not be remarkable, yet the
work that you do during this transit will lay a foundation for future success and progress. For
example, you may be working on projects that yield little or nothing in terms of immediate
financial gain that will, in fact, assist your career years down the road.

At some point during Saturn’s movement through Capricorn, Saturn will conjunct your Sun
(or Ascendant). Your level of maturity, realism, and responsibility comes up for inspection.
The goals you have set for yourself, as well as your very character, are now re-evaluated for
strength and purpose, and tested against reality. Saturn has a way of slowing down our life, as
if it is forcing us to take a really good look at it. Because the Sun rules our vitality, you may
feel that your energy is somewhat depleted. You begin to feel your age, and the pressures that
may go along with it. You may feel alone and un-parented or unsupported. Your
achievements to date become especially important to you, and you are extremely sensitive to
whether or not you have been recognized on a professional level as well as on a personal
level. Whether your talents and abilities, and your unique individuality and character, are
recognized by others becomes especially important to you. You might be self-critical and/or
feel that others do not support or recognize you enough. You might find yourself pulling away
from others as you take the necessary time to re-evaluate your life. This process is necessary,
as you are learning to see yourself more realistically–without rose-colored glasses–so that you
can move forward with a stronger sense of purpose. Some commitments or plans might need
to be let go. You are likely to feel some regrets for how you have lived your life to date, but
once you honor those feelings (which seems to be necessary in order to move forward), you
are in a better position to make improvements.

Others are seeing you as more responsible. Self-discipline comes more naturally as well. The
best way to handle Saturn’s transit through your sign is to meet your responsibilities to the
best of your ability. Do take a closer look at the areas you’ve allowed to slide, and listen to
your feelings of disappointment, but don’t let this turn into regret or resentment. Instead,
focus on making improvements and keep in mind the long-term. Short-sightedness now can
get you into trouble. Impatience will not be rewarded. Think in terms of the long view.

While Saturn in one’s own sign is not the most desired transit, Capricorns understand
Saturnine energy and do well with it. Saturn performs very well in Capricorn! You may feel
that you’ve come into your own. The last time Saturn transited Capricorn was from 1988-
1990.

Aquarius

Saturn moves into the sign just behind yours, dear Aquarius. This puts Saturn in
the background of your solar chart. This transit can be very revealing — for some
more challenging than others. Contemplation of the meaning of your existence,
your accomplishments, and your “failures” can be in focus with Saturn transiting your solar
twelfth house. This transit marks the end of a cycle, which can most certainly bring with it a
fair measure of confusion and discontent, especially at the beginning of the period. However,
this tends to dissipate as you go along.

Saturn turns a critical eye to all that lies beneath the surface, and you are forced to do some
serious “spring cleaning” of your psyche. During this transit, you face your own demons–the
vague yet haunting fears that undermine you. We all have skeletons in our closet. What we
don’t always realize is that they can seriously undermine our happiness and well-being.
Saturn sweeps through your “closet” (the twelfth house) and demands that you take a hard
look at what’s been hiding in there. Is this process uncomfortable? For some of us, it can be.
But getting rid of outdated attachments, and examining and discarding irrational fears, is not
only necessary for further growth and development, it’s ultimately a huge relief. The twelfth
house in some ways is a dumping ground for things we have left undone. Saturn transiting
here wants us to sort through the junk and keep only those things that we truly need for future
development. This process can be rather lengthy and it can feel very slow, but if done
properly, it can be most rewarding.

You could feel that you are dealing with endings more than new beginnings during this
transit, as you let go of old and unhealthy attachments and unconsciously prepare yourself for
Saturn’s transit of the first house/Aquarius beginning in 2020, when you will work diligently
on reworking your individuality and personal identity. You are somewhat introspective at this
time and you might isolate yourself from others in some manner–a process that tends to come
naturally.

Saturn is one of your rulers, and while Saturn transits Capricorn, there can be a retiring,
somewhat withdrawn or private element to your personality. Health issues, generally of a
psychosomatic nature, may come to the fore. You may be attracted to alternative ways of
living, and to self-study fields, such as psychoanalysis.
Do your best not to dwell on past failures or guilt for what you haven’t done during this cycle.
Detach yourself from these things as much as possible. Put things to rest. This can also be a
time when you give of yourself to others, as you are valuing charity more than usual. You
could be struggling with issues of self-worth, and this is a fine time to really explore what it is
that holds you back from going after what you want and deserve in life. With Saturn in the
background of your chart, you might often feel quite free of restraint, however. In fact, you
may be one of the signs that has an easier time with this transit since Saturn rules this area of
your solar chart and you’re comfortable with its energy. Saturn performs very well in
Capricorn, and the last time Saturn moved through Capricorn was from 1988-1990.

Pisces

You’ve spent at least a couple of years focusing much of your energy on your
place in society, your responsibilities, and your social standing while Saturn
transited the tenth house, dear Pisces. You should be at a point where you know, realistically,
what you are doing and where you are headed professionally. When Saturn transits the
eleventh house as it does now with Saturn in Capricorn, your personal goals and aspirations
come under Saturn’s scrutiny. How you fit in with others, your affiliations with people and
groups, and your peers all become serious matters to you now.

The beginning of Saturn’s transits tend to feel a little off or disappointing. You might feel that
your personal “circle” or your networks are superficial or unsatisfying at the beginning of the
transit. You might feel alienated as you begin to see them for what they are –or are not –
worth. You might feel some disdain for the superficial workings of casual friendships, and
begin to feel uncomfortable and self-conscious about “going through the motions,” doing and
saying the right things, and so forth.

Alternatively, you might meet someone with whom you establish a serious friendship at this
time, or you might become a member of a group or affiliation that you devote much of your
time to. Weeding out what seems now to be superfluous social associations from your life is
very likely during this transit as you become more serious about what you want, on a personal
level, from your life.

You might take a hard look at the role you play in others’ lives, and consider exactly what it is
that satisfies you and contributes to your happiness, beyond partnership, romance, career,
religion, and so forth. As Saturn moves further through the house, and by the time the transit
is over, you should have found ways to bring definition and articulation to your innermost
wishes and hopes for your personal path.

Friends or group affiliations may seem more demanding of your time and energy now, or you
might feel stress about how much you put into your social obligations. Alternatively, you
might decide to contribute to your community in significant, tangible, and practical ways
during this transit. You may be more discriminating when it comes to making new friends, or
circumstances are such that you spend less energy on networking and involvement in your
community or in teams and groups. Existing friendships may experience some tests or trials
during this cycle, and one or possibly more friendships may end. Ones that are true, however,
will strengthen.

At some point during Saturn’s stay in the sign of Capricorn, he forms a harmonious sextile to
your Sun (or Ascendant). This happens to both you and Scorpio. Strengthened relationships
with authority figures or older people in your life may play a supportive role in your life now,
largely due to your own humbler attitude. The work you do and the responsibilities you take
on provide you with a solid sense of purpose. Because you have a more mature grasp of our
own capabilities, you project a more responsible, perhaps serious, and self-assured personality
to others. You are able to look at yourself in a realistic and reasonable manner, and you are
less vulnerable to self-delusion. One of the major sources of stress and guilt in our lives stems
from uncertainty. Unnecessary stress comes from overestimating our capabilities and
responsibilities and inevitably failing to meet them. Things nag at the back of our minds.
Saturn offers us realism, and with his sextile to your Sun, you see yourself and your
capabilities more clearly and realistically. At this time in your life, you know what your
responsibilities are, and you meet them.

There can be nice opportunities to make long-lasting connections during this period. You can
have more influence in a group, possibly naturally taking the lead. It’s a time for making solid
plans for your future. This is a rewarding period overall, particularly if you focus more on
long-term benefits and less on short-term frustrations. Saturn is in a sign that it rules,
Capricorn, during this period, and performs very well here as a result. The last time Saturn
moved through Capricorn was from 1988-1990.
