Procedure in

Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer

Nung inaaral ko to this week iniisip ko, Paano nga ba tayo mag pray? So I
started comparing. Inisip ko muna, para kaya itong speech???

CONCERT>> I HATE GIVING SPEECHES. Perform nalang.

Para kaya itong kanta? Ang prayer kaya ay parang kanta? Kasi may
structure ung kanta... May verse and chorus... May bridge... Tapos may
build up... So Ginawa ko nag google ako ng songs on prayer… dami kong
nahanap

1
2
3
What is Prayer
like?

Just talking to God, plainly kagaya ng pakikipagusap natin sa ibang tao?

Kailangan ba maganda lagi, kailangan ba may luha pang kasama?
Kailangan ba malakas o mahina boses?

4
What is Prayer
like?
How do we pray?

Anong kasama sa prayer? Nung bata ako hanggang ngayon, natutunan ko

yun ACTS. Maganda maalala to. How do we pray?
A - adoration
C - Confession
T - Thanksgiving
S - Supplication

I fully agree with this dahil kasama din ito sa passage natin, kung nakita
ninyo. Pero I believe that God wants our prayers to be deeper. And He
wants our prayers to not be about us.

5
Prayer does not rely
on our efforts.
Prayer relies on
God's greatness.

bago ka pa man mag pray. And alam natin as a fact na ang Panginoon ay
nakikinig sa panalangin ng kanyang mga anak. Amen po ba?

At ano nga ba ang main ingredient in prayer? What or who do we need

when we pray? Ano or sino. Kailangan, ngayong umaga maremind tayo
that God hears the prayers of His children, it is a fact. kaya sabi sa James
5:16>>>>

6
James 5:16
Therefore, confess your sins
to one another, and pray for
one another so that you may
be healed. The effective
prayer of a righteous man
can accomplish much.

Before this passage, si James was already telling them to pray for one
another kung sick, pray when happy, pray when suffering. Because he
knows that prayer is effective. And we are already made righteous in
Jesus Christ. So our prayer is effective!
mo>>>>gospel>>>>>>

SO

7
The main
ingredient in
prayer is
Jesus Christ!

Not you. Not your words. Not the length of your prayer. It is Jesus Christ.
Dahil kung wala si Jesus Christ, your prayer is really walang kwenta. Dati
yung iba sa atin ang daming dinadasalan…. Isa isahin natin::

Kulot
Nakahiga
Nakapula
May buhat

Batangas. Dasal din mga tao don. Pero walang kwenta yung mga yun,
because the main ingredient is Christ. That's why si Jesus Christ nung

mga yon kung gusto natin, but that defeats the purpose
of Jesus Christ dying for you and me. because he said
in His word na siya lamang ang daan papunta sa ama.
so ngayon, kung patuloy tayong magdadasal sa iba,
pinapakita natin that He is not the only way.

8
Matt. 6:5
“When you pray, you are
not to be like the hypocrites;
for they love to stand and
pray in the synagogues and
on the street corners so that
they may be seen by men.
Truly I say to you, they have
their reward in full.

Do not be be like the hypocrites. They want to be noticed. It's not about
them. It's about Christ. They don’t have the power. Kahit gano
katalinghaga yung pananalita, that's nothing without Christ. So,

9
Prayer should
not be about us.

I preached this a couple of times already.

Prayer brings glory to God and we are just small dust in the His
presence. So it will never be about us.

And tinuloy ni Jesus sa verse 6>>>>

10
Matt. 6:6
“But you, when you pray,
go into your inner room,
close your door and pray to
your Father who is in secret,
and your Father who sees
what is done in secret will
reward you.

Our salvation is personal. Jesus died for you. Jesus died for me. The Lord
has a plan for you. The Lord has a plan for me.
May sarili tayong journey. This shows how personal God is. Kaya sabi ni
Jesus, go in secret when you pray. This speaks about how intimate our
prayer should be. This also speaks about how intimate the Lord wants
our relationship with him should be. And this means that

11
Prayer should be
focused.

Pero it needs focus. Parang pag
kanila. So when we pray to God, we need to have focus, that's why we
close our eyes. Kaya tayo nakapikit. Kaya yung iba nakatungo. Yung iba
kulang nalang magtago sa kumot pag nagppray. Pero kung natutulungan
tayong magfocus ng posture natin pati ng surroundings natin in prayer,
go ahead. Ang mga millenials, I'm sure yung iba dito will have their quiet
time naka earphones.

Jesus continued in verse 7>>>

12
Matt. 6:7 – 8
7 “And when you are
praying, do not use meaningless
repetition as the Gentiles do,
for they suppose that they will
be heard for their many words.
8 “So do not be like
them; for your Father knows
what you need before you ask
Him.

And this is very important and I think lahat tayo nakakarelate dito. Pag
3pm, may prayer. May isa akong school kung san ako nagtuturo pag 12nn
may prayer, titigil ang mundo. Yung iba sa atin dati pag 6am gising na at
iniisa isa na yung hawak na beads. So we learn here that

13
Prayer should be
meaningful.

At dito tayo magsspringboard to our points ngayon umaga. How should

we pray? And from our passage, Jesus taught his disciples to pray. I'm
Bakit? Kakasabi lang ni Jesus the verse before e. It
is a model. At marami tayong matututunan dito ngayong umaga because
Jesus himself taught how we should pray.

Verse 9, Jesus said>>>

14
Matt. 6:9
“Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in
heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.

15
Procedure in Prayer
1. Start with God

Father. Kung baga
sa isang liham, Dear Charro. Kanino ba tayo nananalangin? Sa ating Diyos
na makapangyarihan.

Sabi ni AW Pink:

16
All real prayer ought
to begin with a devout
contemplation and to
express an
acknowledgment of
the name of God and
of His blessed
perfections
A.W. Pink

So we are drawing near to a majestic God full of grace and mercy and
love. At bilang mga anak niya sabi sa Hebrews that we should draw near
with confidence because of His precious blood that was shed for you
and me.
Ps 8:1 for example says,,,

17
Ps 8:1
O LORD, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name
in all the earth,
Who have displayed Your
splendor above the heavens!

Father. John 1:12>>>

18
John 1:12
But as many as received Him,
to them He gave the right to
become children of God,
even to those who believe in
His name,

So yung first line ng verse 9 tells us of God's personal and intimate heart
letting us know that we can come to Him bilang ating personal na Ama.
Pero hindi doon tumitigil yon. We can be close to God, we can be
intimate with Him,

19
Matt. 6:9
“Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in
heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.

but the second line "hallowed be Your name" tells of God's reverence.
Yes, He is personal, Yes he is our father, but He is still God, the almighty
God creator of Heaven and earth, in control of the big and the small
things happening around you. "Hallowed be your name" ay nagsasabi
din sa atin ng pagworship sa Diyos. Kaya kanina sabi ko na sa
pananalangin natin, nagpupuri tayo sa kanya. We give reverence to His
sinasabi satin by this example ay solemn dapat ang pananalangin. At

20
Worship is the
essence of all
prayer.

It begins in worship recognizing that He is God that we can start to pray.

So
it still starts with God.

Kaya pag tayo ay nagppray, at pag may nagppray, dapat nasa isip natin
ang pagiging solemn, at pagiging isang holy act ang prayer

21
1. Be sensitive
2. Ayusin mo prayer mo

Be sensitive
Because someone is talking to God. You need to be focused as
well. We want to give reverence sa Diyos

(CLICK)
Ayusin mo prayer mo
Kausap mo ang Diyos. Maybe the best way to pray to God ay kung

The second point is from verse 10 which says>>>>>

22
Matt. 6:10
‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.

23
Procedure in Prayer
1. Start with God
2.Recognize His work on
earth

And in that regard, nung sinabi ni Jesus
"kingdom come" He is speaking of God's dominion over all the earth. At
So anong meron?

24
“Your Kingdom come”
– 2 levels
1. Dominion sa mundo
2.Dominion sa puso ng tao

Dominion in the whole world during the last days. And dominion in the hearts of people as
the gospel is continuously spread up until the last days.

And then the next line says,

25
Matt. 6:10
‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.

"may your will be done." where? In our lives of course! So sinasabi ni

lang hindi naman natin malalaman ang will niya on our own. Kaya nung
sinabi ni Jesus ito, it also means that we are seeking for God's will. Ps
119:27>>>>>

26
Ps 119:27
Make me understand the
way of Your precepts,
So I will meditate on Your
wonders.

ibig sabihin din nito ay we are tuning our heart to His heart

Ps. 119:32>>>>

27
Ps 119:32
I shall run the way of Your
commandments,
For You will enlarge my
heart.

And that means that when we say

28
What is the will of God? We
might not know yet. Pero alam natin that he is at work kung tayo ay anak
niya.

Sabi ni AW Pink:

29
The one who
sincerely prays this
necessarily
intimates his
unreserved
surrender to God
A.W. Pink

So the question now is, is my heart surrendered to God? Nagpaparaya ba tayo sa

Panginoon? Bilang church, do we pray this kind of prayer? As a family do we yield to the
Lord’s will. Or nagpplano lang tayo and rely on ourself?

Bilang mga Kristyano, we should recognize his work on earth through the
church and through our personal lives.

Kaya sinabi din ni Jesus in Matt 6:33>>>

30
Matt. 6:33
“But seek first His kingdom
and His righteousness, and
all these things will be added
to you.

That's why in relation to that, His kingdom on earth will come, His reign
in our hearts has come.

31
Prayer is
recognition of
our God as King.

puso sa lahat ng pinagdadaanan natin, God is at work. He is king over my
heart.

Kaya sa ating prayer

32
Lets pray for the church
Let's recognize his work

Lets pray for the church

Kung gusto natin to let His kingdom come, that will happen
through the church. That also means lets pray for our pastors and
ministers.

(Click)

Let's recognize his work

His work in the world and His work personally sa mga buhay natin.
May trial? ipagpray mo na you come out victorious. God is at work
in you.

Next point is in verse 11>>>>

33
Matt. 6:11
‘Give us this day our daily
bread.

34
Procedure in Prayer
1. Start with God
2.Recognize His work on
earth
3.Ask

So when Jesus said this, sabi niya, glorify God first, and then recognize
His work on earth because it's all about Him. It's really not about us. At
pagkatapos non, Jesus taught na pwede ka rin lumapit sa Diyos for your
needs when He said "give us this day our daily bread".
Another thing na makikita natin dito ay yung time element--

35
Matt. 6:11
‘Give us this day our daily
bread.

Not give us this month, our monthly bread. He did not say, give us this
enough para sa buong buhay namin. Bakit? Kasi hindi na hihingi after
non. This makes us think about tuwing kailan magppray? Everyday. And
the Lord wants us to pray to Him, not just everyday, but everytime. 1
thess 5:17 says>>>>

36
1 Thess. 5:17
pray without ceasing;

Pray continually

without ceasing means not stopping. In the NIV it says (CLICK)

So nung sinabi ni Jesus give us this day our daily bread, it means 2
things:

37
“Give us this day our daily bread”
1. God will provide for His
children
2.God wants us to pray
continually

God will provide for His children

Pansin niyo ba ang sabi "give us this day." the word give is
imperative. Sure shot yan. And if you are saved this morning, God
will really provide for your needs.

(CLICK)

God wants us to pray continually

God wants us to cling to Him. Kung iisipin mo, He will provide, sure
shot. But he still wants us to pray to Him continually. Maybe
because gusto niya to always have this conversation with his
children. He wants to be intimate with you. So talk to God.

38
Asking Him is
depending on
Him.

Why do we ask? Kasi wala tayo. We ask for our needs because we are
frail. Kagaya ng isang baby crying to her mother. Asking her to giver her
milk. Bakit? She is helpless. At kagaya non, we are asking God for our
need because we are helpless without God.
from God.

In verse 12, and our 4th point sabi ni Jesus>>>>>

39
Matt. 6:12
‘And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our
debtors.

40
Procedure in Prayer
1. Start with God
2.Recognize His work on
earth
3.Ask
4.Confess

Sabi ni Jesus "forgive us our debts." Debt here means sin.

41
Matt. 6:11 – 12
11 ‘Give
Give us this day our
daily bread.
12 ‘And forgive us our
debts as we also have
debts,
forgiven our debtors.

The word (click)

debt is so much related to to the word (click)

give. And this is the first time that Jesus used the word (click)

and.
Binigay at inutang. Yung line before says, give us our daily bread. At yung
next line says, forgive us our debts. Ano bang principle ang makukuha
natin dito?

42
“Give” and “Debt”
• The Lord always gives
• We take advantage of it

Sa papanong paraan? We ask God to provide. At matapos yun, we take

all the credit.
Dami kong extra dahil madami akong trabaho
at napakasipag ko. Binigay ni Lord salvation niya at ligtas ako, so bahala
in discipling people and being discipled. Hawak ko naman buhay ko e. It
all came from God. But we don’t own it. Ito ang nangyari kay Adam and
Eve. God gave them paradise. Pero dahil nagpadala sa tukso ni Satan
what happened? They wanted to become god also. And that's the root
of our sins. We want to become our own little gods. We take what God
has given. Inuutang
at wala nang kagustuhan na bayaran. And so yun ang sabi ni Jesus.

43
Forgive us our debts. Forgive us our sins. Forgive me Lord because I have
become my own god at hindi na ako nagdedepende sa iyo. What have
you taken from God?
Confess your sins. Because

44
Confessing sins is
giving God
authority over
our lives.

Why?
And remember God gave
first. He first loved us. And this prayer reflects that. Give us our daily
bread. He gave first. And then we realized that we have debt. And then
we asked for forgiveness. Kaya wala tayong masusumabat sa Diyos.
Because He gave it all
john 1:9>>>

45
1 Jn 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is
faithful and righteous to
forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.

And because He forgave us, we can forgive others as well>>>>

46
Matt. 6:12
‘And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our
debtors.

47
Procedure in Prayer
1. Start with God
2.Recognize His work on
earth
3.Ask
4.Confess
5.Pray for others

At galing sa passage natin, God can
give, He can forgive us, and we can forgive others as well. And just based
on the passage, ito lang yung kaisa isang line kung saan may ibang taong
involved.

48
Matt. 6:12
‘And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our
debtors.

OTHERS

"as we also forgive our debtors. So the focus here is forgiving other
people,, and therefore praying for (click)

other people.

49
When was the last
time you prayed
for someone?

Alam mo yon, yung may group
And Jesus had this exact example in Matt 15:30>>>

50
Matt. 15:30
And large crowds came to
Him, bringing with them
those who were lame,
crippled, blind, mute, and
many others, and they laid
them down at His feet; and
He healed them.

Daming lumalapit na tao, Lord heal me. Lord hear me. Kaya very
important to pray for other people because we were created to have
relationships. We cannot disciple without having relationships. We
cannot share the gospel nowadays without establishing a relationship.
And part doon ang praying for other people. And Paul reminded the
Philippians in Phil. 2:3>>>>

51
Phil. 2:3
Do nothing from selfishness
or empty conceit, but with
humility of mind regard one
another as more important
than yourselves;

And there, we get our principle regarding praying for other people:

52
Praying for
others builds
relationships.

Pwede niyong tignan yan on a ligaw perspective, pero generally kapag

may nagpray sayo, you will always remember the heart of that person.
You will always remember how God worked in your life through that
person. And if we are the person praying, just pray for one another.
Everywhere in the Bible, Paul prayed for the Christians and he urged
them to pray for each other.
niya. That's why paul said in Gal 6:2>>>>

53
Gal. 6:2
Bear one anothers burdens,
and thereby fulfill the law of
Christ.

Kaya tayo, include other people in your prayer. Sino nga ba sa paligid mo
ang kailangan ng prayer? Or kahit tingin nila hindi nila kailangan ng
prayer, pray for other people. Start with worshipping God, recognize His
working on earth and through the church, and then you pray for yourself
asking for your needs, and then for others as well.
Lastly, Jesus said in v 13>>>>

54
Matt. 6:13
‘And do not lead us into
temptation, but deliver us
from evil. [For Yours is the
kingdom and the power and
the glory forever. Amen.]’

55
Procedure in Prayer
1. Start with God
2.Recognize His work on earth
3.Ask
4.Confess
5.Pray for others
6.Pray for your growth in Him

line. After asking God to forgive one's sin, we pray further and tell God,
Lord help me not to be tempted, help me to not sin anymore, help me
not sin longer.
yon. We are recognizing Christ's sacrifice that defeated sin and death.
That's why when we say::

56
Matt. 6:13
‘And do not lead us into
temptation, but deliver us
from evil. [For Yours is the
kingdom and the power and
the glory forever. Amen.]’

lead us not into temptation, we are recognizing who God is. The holy
God who does not have any sin in Him or close to Him. At yung aspetong
Jesus, "deliver us from evil."
tinuro ni Jesus sa kanyang mga disciple because it show us that God is
powerful, it shows us that God is mighty, it shows us that God has
conquered the grave. And tayo as His children are praying to an almighty
God who gave us life when we deserved death, who gave us
righteousness when we deserved to be dead in sin and shame.

This also reflects our desire to know Him more. Si Jesus Christ, said no to
temptation many times. "Lord I want to be like you, lead me not into
temptation." The Lord is holy, "Lord I want to be in your presence, lead
me not into temptation." Lord nasa gitna ako ng isang napaka hirap na
siwasyon, deliver me. Lord I am being abused, deliver me. Lord, yung
mga tao sa paligid ako are sinning, deliver me. Lord, punong puno ng
kasamaan, corruption, ang aming bansa, deliver us. At ang Panginoon,
will deliver us and will keep uas away from temptation if we get to know
Him more. Because sabi niya, "I have overcome the world." so when
Jesus said those two things, sinasabi niya na, guys you should pray to

57
know Him more, you should pray for your growth in the Lord.
everyday, we pray that prayer, so we can fix our eyes on Jesus more and
not on the trouble's of this world.

57
2 Pet. 3:18
but grow in the grace and
knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. To Him
be the glory, both now and
to the day of eternity. Amen.

58
Eph. 4:15
but speaking the truth in
love, we are to grow up in
all aspects into Him who is
the head, even Christ,

Kaya mga kapatid

59
Prayer is a chance
to grow in Christ
more.

Because the more we pray the more we know God's heart. The more
we know who He is. The more we know that He is our savior and he
continuosly saves. At dito nakikita natin na grabe napaka importante
pala mag pray. We don’t simply talk to our Saviour but we talk to Him
and engage with all these things. So tayo, we need to pray to grow more.
And all of these still involves our worship sa Panginoon. If worship is the
essence of all prayer, Christ actually ends the prayer in a very triumphant
majestic manner. He said in verse 13>>>

60
Matt. 6:13
‘And do not lead us into
temptation, but deliver us
from evil. [For Yours is the
kingdom and the power and
the glory forever. Amen.]’

Sabi ni AW Pink

61
THIS model for Divine
worshipers concludes
with a doxology or
ascription of praise to
the One addressed,
evidencing the
completeness of the
prayer.
A.W. Pink

And yes, prayer is of God, and is complete in God. At paulit-ulit natin

sinabi today, that prayer begins and ends with God. That's why we say in
Jesus' name at the end of our prayer because we give God what is due to
Him.

62
And that is prayer.
we are missing on the completeness of prayer na tinuro ni Jesus. Kaya
And looking very closely sa passage natin this morning helped me see
the completeness that prayer can bring between Christ and his children.

Let me close with this quote from Samuel Chadwick a Methodist

minister who lived in the late 1800s.

63
The one concern of the devil
is to keep Christians from
praying. He fears nothing
from prayerless studies,
prayerless work, and prayer-
less religion. He laughs at
our toil, mocks at our
wisdom, but trembles when
we pray.
Samuel Chadwick

So if prayer is to be compared to something, it is to be compared to

nothing. There is nothing more complete and more powerful than
prayer. Kaya this week, I urge everyone to pray with completeness in
mind. To pray and pray for it is our weapon against the devil.
