February 10, 2019 The Fifth Sunday After The Epiphany Holy Communion IV
INVOCATION
All may stand and make the sign of the cross, the sign with which we are
marked at baptism, as the presiding minister begins.
INTRODUCTION
In the name of the Father, and of the (+) Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The fifth Sunday after Epiphany continues to highlight unlikely instruments
and circumstances appointed to reveal the glory of the Lord. “Who will go GATHERING SONG: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty! (ELW 413)
for us?” queries the voice of the Lord. A man of unclean lips, a former
persecutor of the church of God, and three fishermen who couldn’t catch a APOSTOLIC GREETING
thing. More surprising still, perhaps, is the fact that we are also called.

HYMN OF PRAISE
As a worship courtesy, we ask that you please turn off or set to vibrate all
cellular telephones and pagers during the worship service.
We ask that all present today please fill out the Attendance and Communion
registration card found in your bulletin and place it in the offering plate so
that we may record your presence with us.
Behold, Lord, an empty vessel that needs to be filled. My Lord, fill it. I am
weak in the faith; strengthen me. I am cold in love; warm me and make me
fervent, that my love may go out to my neighbor. I do not have a strong and
firm faith; at times I doubt and am unable to trust you altogether. O Lord,
help me. Strengthen my faith and trust in you. In you I have sealed the
treasure of all I have. I am poor; you are rich and came to be merciful to the
poor. I am a sinner; you are upright. With me, there is an abundance of sin;
in you is the fullness of righteousness. Therefore I will remain with you, of
whom I can receive, but to whom I may not give. Amen.

Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been
taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7The seraph touched my mouth
with it and said: “Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has
departed and your sin is blotted out.” 8Then I heard the voice of the Lord
saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am
I; send me!”
