Program Policies & Participant Responsibilities

Absence Policy
Full participation in the scheduled Program Days is essential to the Leadership Albuquerque
experience. Barring emergencies, attendance at all events is mandatory. Class members are
expected to arrive on time and remain with the class for the entire session. Any participant who misses
more than two (2) sessions will be asked to leave the program and will not receive a tuition refund.

On-line Evaluations
Class members will be asked to complete online evaluations following each program day.

Community Service Project

Class members will be involved in a “project group” which requires the group to be involved in some
form of Community Service and Learning. This involves meeting with your project group outside of the

Program Tuition
In addition to time and dedication, Leadership Albuquerque requires a financial commitment. The FY
2010/2011 tuition for Leadership Albuquerque is $2,000. Full payment is due prior to the August
retreat. A limited number of partial scholarships are available on a need basis. In order to keep
the cost to a minimum for the participants, the program does get sponsorships from the business
community for each of the program days, retreat, and graduation. The tuition covers all program costs
including a two day mandatory retreat, meals provided at each program day, materials, Leadership
shirts, speaker costs, and bus/coach transportation during selected sessions. For a couple of the
sessions, the participants will be required to provide their own transportation to and from site visits (car
pooling is encouraged). On occasion, the participants may also need to pay parking fees at various
locations. The Curriculum Committee attempts to keep these extra costs to a minimum.

Leadership Albuquerque Alumni Association (LAAA)

Subsequent to your graduation from Leadership Albuquerque, you will be a “dues free” member of the
Leadership Albuquerque Alumni Association for one year, enabling you to continue the Leadership
Experience and nurture the relationships forged with your class. You will also be invited to participate
in various leadership roles within Leadership Albuquerque and LAAA.

Selection Criteria

Each Leadership Albuquerque class is chosen by a Selection Committee comprised of graduates of the
program. Classes are representative of our diverse community and include participants who represent
large and small businesses, the self-employed, nonprofits, and community volunteers. The Selection
Committee strives to achieve balance in the class by ensuring diversity of race, gender, industry, and
professional backgrounds.

Applications will be thoroughly reviewed, and candidates will participate in individual and group
interviews. Selection criteria includes:

■ Commitment to personal and professional growth

■ Commitment and motivation to serve the community through assuming leadership roles in the
voluntary and public sectors of our community
■ Personal commitment to improving the community environment so as to favorably impact the
economic development and quality of life in our community.

The Leadership Albuquerque program is highly competitive. A limited number of applicants are
selected for each class. Therefore, we encourage you to reapply to subsequent programs if your
application is not accepted this program year.
