ARMANİE IMPASSE – 2 AND THE MİSTAKES OF TURKEY

Firstly, I want to mention the language and expression of the author. The language and
expression of this are more clear than the other column I wrote last week with the heading “Armenia
Impasse”. It is a good thing that the author told the events in detail and by giving information.
Especially the quotations which were done by Semih Ediz from the author and the phrases in
“equation marks” are really great! The column is like the article because of them, according to me.
Lastly, it is a good behave to mention from another columnist, Sami Kohen, rival newspaperman…

Secondly, I want to ask some questions: What did Turkey talk to Armenia, Sweden, Russia
Federation, the USA and other states about this topic before the protocol was signed and during the
protocol? What did Turkey want from Armenia and other states and promise to Armenia and the
others? What did Armenia want from Turkey and other states and promise to Turkey and others? All
the states regarding to the protocol are behaving normally and aren’t accepting the responsibility for
the protocol as if nothing happened. But Sweden mediated between Turkey and Armenia about this
protocol. The USA and Russia Federation forced Turkey to be made an agreement between Turkey
and Armenia and to be opened the borders among Armenia and Turkey. But, now these states are
behaving differently as if these states forgot. The states which said that Armenian Genocide will be
searched by an international commission and the borders between Turkey and Armenia will never
change are accepting normal thing the decision of Armenia Intuitional Court. And today the states
that have ambassadors and consulates in Armenia and Azerbaijan are accepting normal thing again
the military occupation. And lastly, the states left alone Turkey about this topic if they didn’t want to
do these from Turkey.

This situation is showing how well Turkey knows diplomacy (!), according to me. If Turkey talked
to Armenia and other states about the borders among Turkey and Armenia, the research commission
for Armenian Genocide, the military occupation of Azerbaijan – was done by Armenia- and other
topics in detail. And unless the protocol includes these topics, here Turkey has some mistakes.
According to this situation, unfortunately, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Federation is right:
Turkey is making up some things which aren’t real or don’t exist on the protocol. OK, how right is
Philip Gordon about this topic?

The reason of turning this protocol and relationship between two these states into an impossible
situation is that the matters of the protocol or what something was talked aren’t known by anyone
(it’s true for me at least!). OK, how will this issue? According to me, solving this issue is that the
relationship between Turkey and Armenia last in the past as if anything didn’t happen or works
regarding to the protocol will be continued by Turkey, Armenia and other actors. If we choose the
second alternative, it is required that diplomacy should be applied by Turkey correctly and Turkey
should be used their own cards carefully. The most way, according to me, to solve issue, is to go to
the beginning of the issue. I remember aphorism, “if you can’t solve an issue, you should go to the
beginning of the road.” For example, someone may tell the matters of the protocol to the
communities in the world secretly and public opinion might be trusted. While this is done, Turkey can
make interviews with other states to be rescued this impasse from the very beginning. Turkey should
try to solve the issue like the borders, the genocide and the military occupation of Azerbaijan by
making bilateral interviews.
In conclusion, it is controversial weather the decision of Armenia Institutional Court is right or
not. In additional to this decision, the other states aren’t supporting Turkey and however, they say to
Turkey to approve the protocol! It shows that Turkey made some mistakes somewhere. After this,
one from two things will be. The states –especially Turkey and Armenia- will try to continue the
protocol and conclude it or Sami Kohen will be right. And this situation will transform into a state like
“win-win!”. But nobody will win anything or everybody will lose a lot of things and the issue will
increase much more. Here I want to criticize myself because of not knowing things about the
protocol or topic enough.
